My side-hustling friends, I have come to the realization that it's time to say goodbye to the GOT SIDE HUSTLE show. As it started, "ELEVATE YOUR 8" and morphed into GOT SIDE HUSTLE, I have made some amazing friends and learned so much about myself and what it takes to build a business. I have come to really understand productivity and time management and how I can make the best of every hour in every day. I have created systems and procedures for working my side hustles in less than one hour a day. And now it's time to do something different. The show will still be around - and from time to time I will likely do a special episode when I really have something to say or I have a great guest... But until then, the GOT SIDE HUSTLE show is always here for you. HAPPY REX MANNING DAY!  In honor of this amazing annual event, where we eat special brownies, pizza, and watch the delightful 1995 movie about teen angst, music, and making your dreams come true (sort of) - today's episode features Side Hustle Lessons derived from some of my FAVORITE moments in the film EMPIRE RECORDS.   From ABC.NET.AU: " If you grew up in 1990s, you might be familiar with Empire Records. The film, which followed a raggedy crowd of employees at an independent record store facing corporate takeover, resonated with those of us who listened to "alternative music" and wanted to telegraph our displeasure at The Man. It was a very cool thing," Jenna Guillaume, a pop culture writer and the author of two works of young adult fiction, told me when we spoke about Empire Records, which was released 25 years ago. "The characters were outsiders and you were an outsider if you loved it and that became a token of your cool status." But the film was a disaster. It was abandoned by its studio just weeks before its release. While it gave early platforms to Liv Tyler and Renee Zellweger, critics mostly dumped on it and it barely made it to US screens, let alone Australian ones. With a budget of more than $US10 million, it made just $US150,000 in cinemas." Anyway - I have derived more than my fair share of enjoyment from this film and I'm thrilled today to be able to share some amazing lessons on rocking your side hustle and doing the passionate work you were made to do!!

2020 may have been a total booger and truly shitty year, but 2021 was a rollercoaster of a ride if ever there was one.  And I LOVE roller coasters, but I’ll tell you what…I’ll take a little bit of a kiddie ride for a while if you don’t mind me saying so.   Regardless, there were plenty of lessons to learn in 2021 and I’ve come up with 21 of them to share with you for this week’s ``better late than pregnant” episode LOL.   These lessons are all business related in the sense that they are personal and frankly, when you have two side hustles, one with your husband, and a day job that you truly love, then everything gets a little personal every now and then.  From working ahead and setting deadlines to having your own professional development curriculum and rocking your mindset, I hope you enjoy this fun list that I’ve shared in Episode 157. Can I just tell you how much I did NOT want to do an episode this week?    Well, it's true.   I'm in a slump, y'all.  An icky one.  Like the kind where they send you back down to the minors.  But slump and all, I learned a few things today and I wanted to share them with you because I think they are worthy of getting me out of my slumpy-ness. I have used an app called VIDA through my employer's health insurance.  It's AWESOME.  I have a fantastic health coach that I meet with every week and the app is sort of a combination of FitBit, MyFitness Pal, and every other food tracker on the planet. Today, VIDA was hosting a webinar on dealing with stress during the holidays.  I decided to check it out and it was AWESOME!  I got into more detail in the episode, but let's just say I had a slight epiphany and I feel very hopeful about the next few weeks! Gail Scott is a 27 yr veteran in skincare and beauty sales. She has worked that business as both a side hustle and a full-time career. As of late, she has created other side hustles coaching and teaching women on working virtually and growing a new podcast, MIDLIFE MOXIE™️. Christina Massey is a serial entrepreneur. She has several businesses, including 14 years in the beauty and skincare industry.  She is always looking to expand her portfolio and the new MIDLIFE MOXIE™️ podcast is the newest addition to her gigs.

I'm not a parent - and I don't plan one on TV - but this subject gets even me a little anxious.  I have nieces and nephews so I definitely do not envy parents with this whole birds and bees conversation.    And YES - there are people who do this stuff for a living and thrive on it.  So I was really happy to talk to Amy Lang of Birds and Bees and Kids today.  It's a very fun and funny conversation - and Amy brings some great tips to the table specific to the side hustle...so, no, we aren't talking about sex the whole time, LOL.   Talking to your kids about the birds & bees can be really uncomfortable.   - And most of us dread the idea of having “THE TALK”….….. but it doesn’t have to be this way!   - Our guest, Amy Lang had been a sex educator for over 16 years when she freaked out about talking to her son about her favorite topic!   -Once she recovered - and did a bunch of research - Amy started Birds & Bees & Kids to help parents learn how to have these important conversations.   -Sex advice guru Dan Savage says Amy is a “parent’s best-friend-with-benefits” when it comes to the birds and bees talks.   - She is also the host of JUST SAY THIS!
