The boys are on vacation! At the same time! But not together! You get what we mean right? Anyway, what is a geek vacation without a geek vacation game? Crofton goes through an existential crisis filled with anime, RPGs, and full priced Switch games in an era of Xbox Game Pass. As Ryan talks him down, he must deal with the Nicolas Cage of it all that is going on in his head. Add to that some fun Daddy Day Camp vacation tales and you got all the makings of a fine episode of Dungeons and Diapers. All of this and Only Murders in the Building too!

Well COVID finally caught up to one of our intrepid hosts - find out which one and how they handled it with tons of kid content, from board games (King of Tokyo), to movies (Raya and Big Hero 6), to TV shows for adults (Abbott Elementary). Crofton and Ryan are back, after a small break, to exchange notes on all the geekery that crosses their paths. This is a bit of a greatest hits episode as it includes an Obi-Wan inspired Star Wars discussion, a how to get your kid into games sidebar, and Ryan pool jokes. It is not all retreads however as Ryan brings the projectile vomit from his son's soccer game and Crofton underlines the nuances behind trash talking your own children when gaming together. Ryan and Crofton take a break from the games (following Crofton's critically acclaimed visit to The Gamer's Inn) to talk about TV and movies - notably Doctor Strange and his crazy multiverse experiences (slight spoilers marked below if you're looking to avoid) and the kids of Big Mouth and their hormonal adventures. Ryan and Crofton have had it rough lately - for different reasons. They are here to talk about them and work through their complicated emotions. Don't worry though, here to help them is the wonderful world of Marvel Comics which they enjoyed through Spider-Man No Way Home, Moon Knight on Disney Plus, and the Guardians of the Galaxy video game. Crofton kicks off the show running through "Disaster Chez Crofton", while Ryan's office chair seems to have a mind of it's own. In the Dungeons section, Ryan has been watching Peacemaker while Crofton takes the Sega Genesis to task. Crofton is back from vacations - both from out of the country with his family and from out of the podcast as he visited Ryan over on The Gamer's Inn. Highlights from that discussion include Switch vacation games Golf Story and Into the Breach, Valheim and Ryan's rundown of the new Halo show. Ryan is feeling under the weather and the boys postponed doing a full Dungeons and Diapers this week. That said, Crofton was SO EXCITED about Elden Ring that he coerced a totally real and not at all fake Ryan to participate in a 30 minute discussion of the first hours of Elden Ring. Crofton wraps up his anime teen talk with Daganrompa and updates Gwen's journey through Dragon Quest Builders 2 while Ryan has a laugh with the Righteous Gemstones and prepares to get his hands dirty with potty training. The ongoing occupation of his city may be pushing Crofton over the edge but not as far as those Yellowjackets that Ryan is watching on TV. Actually Ryan loves the tube this ep, with thoughts on Boba Fett and what makes "good" Star Wars (trigger warning) as well as the Wheel of Time and if it is a Lord of the Rings clone (trigger warning). Crofton hits the games with his thoughts on anime high school murder detective Sim Daganrompa (trigger happy havoc warning) as well as Dragon Quests Builders. It may be a New Year but it is the same old Dungeons and Diapers you love. Ryan and Crofton share holiday notes including some gifts that were hits with the kids. Ryan finally sees Spider-Man: No Way Home and Crofton plunges into the forests of Valheim. Gwen schools her dad at Catan Junior while Ryan survives school closures. On this, the last Dungeons and Diapers edition of the year, we start a new tradition: the Daddies - the first ever Dungeons and Diapers award show. What was Ryan's favourite film of the year? What game kept Crofton coming back for more? And what were their single biggest "Dad" moments of the year? The Academy has spoken, the awards will be handed out, and the year will be reviewed. Meanwhile in the Diapers section it is literal diapers as Ryan unsuccessfully tries to get some of his kids to a nappy-free world. All this and Crofton gets beat by his daughter at Smash Bros!
