There are few measuring sticks of talent greater than the “Lights on Broadway” and in Episode 20, K-Bo, Amy and Duke sit down with the uber-talented actor/singer/writer/artist Jarvis B. Manning, Jr. Manning currently plays the part of Al Bryant, an original member and co-founder of the epic Motown group, The Temptations, in the Broadway smash hit Ain’t Too Proud. The show chronicles the history of the legendary group and in addition to playing Bryant, Manning also plays the part of Norman Whitfield who was a staple in the Motown scene and he also produced virtually all of The Temptations’ music in addition to co-writing some of the group’s biggest hits. Listeners will quickly learn what made Manning a first-call for his roles in Ain’t Too Proud as the young artist demonstrates a masterful understanding, desire, and ability to perform at the top of his craft. A Texas native who frequented Louisiana on family visits eventually moved on to Broadway, Manning has left little doubt with theatergoers that his own lights are shining bright. Initially excelling in sports, then into so many artistic roles, listeners will be interested to hear Manning describe his fascination and dedication to studying and recreating the magical genesis of the Motown greats.
