From A to B Starting with How
One of the hardest questions I have been asked to answer is, how I got from wanting to kill myself to loving my life. I try to lay the ground work of that answer in this episode.  I mention 2 book. The Power of Now and Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life's Most Important Skill. Thanks for listening. Please ask questions. www.douginapub.com doug@douginapub.com Asking for help is the strong thing.

Waking Up with Purpose
After my suicide attempt, I woke up, with purpose.  I started to solidify my reason for being here, for staying here and motivation for moving forward.  I talk about the first few weeks after waking up and start laying the ground work for the next batch of episodes.  It gets better. Ask for help. Ask questions. Doug

The Night I Tried Suicide
In this episode I cover the month or so from the end of my marriage to the night I tried to overdose.  As you can tell, I was unsuccessful. I have had many people ask me about this time period, so I thought I should cover it. I could have made a better choice, but it propelled me forward and I haven't stopped moving forward since.  Ask for help. Call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline 1-800-273-8255 From here on the episodes get much more uplifting and motivational.  Thanks for listening. Ask questions.

The Beginning
I go back to the beginning and talk about who I was before my suicide attempt. Some of the bigger events and some things that show who I used to be. I had some people ask me some tough questions, and I needed to backup my story so I could try to answer them properly.  This is in preparation for really digging into the changes I made to become who I am today. I will try to offer strategies and ideas to help others.| As always, ask questions. doug@douginapub.com www.douginapub.com

Doug in a Pub talks to Jessica Jones from Giant Jones Brewery
I had the chance to sit down with the brew master from Giant Jones Brewing located in Madison WI. Jessica Jones has made a huge mark on the brewery scene in Madison and all of Wisconsin.  They brew "Big Beers for Everyone" 7% ABV and up.  They are also very involved in the local community. Recently they raised around $8500 for the local Rape Crisis Center. They didn't just donates profits like most people do, they donated everything from a specially brewed beer called Credible Ale.  This is a most stop if you are in the area for any reason.  Check out their Facebook page for more info. As always, ask questions.  Be excellent to each other.

Doug in a Pub with Eliza Rickman Part 2
In this second part of my conversation with Eliza Rickman, we get a little more personal. We discuss struggles with relationships and anxiety. Talk about how the past can keep coming back to trip you. She has found EMDR to be very helpful and suggested the following resources from WebMD & Psychology Today. I am so grateful she is so open and honest. The more we share, the smaller the world gets. The more we understand we are not alone, the better. As always, ask questions. If you are struggling, ask for help. What to be a guest? www.douginapub.com

Doug in a Pub Ep5 Fear and Love
I talk and fear and love. Pretty straight forward episode. My favorite quote about fear: “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” Frank Herbert, Dune My favorite quote about love: “Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.” Patrick Rothfuss, The Wise Man's Fear Episode 6 will be part one of my conversation with Eliza Rickman. Here is the post where I asked Brett to marry me. Thank you for listening, spread the word. Love each other. Have a question or want to be a guest? doug@douginapub.com

Doug in a Pub on Life in a Kilt
Download this episode In November of 2016 I was a guest on the now defunct Life in a Kilt podcast.  Life in a Kilt was created and hosted by Rick Baldwin and Cheri. Rick has led an interesting life and is still an active artist. (buy his art) When he turned 50, he decided to wear a kilt everyday for a year. That led to Year in a Kilt then Life in a Kilt.  The podcast was recorded on site at Mac McGee's in Decatur GA just outside of Atlanta, where Rick lives. It is a great place for food and drink. One of the best places to go when in Atlanta. Being on this episode started me thinking about starting my own. It is also recorded where I first met Rick, his wife and Cheri and was dubbed "Doug in a Pub" Since then, Rick and Cheri have started a new podcast, This Epic Disaster. It can be found all over the internet.  Hope you enjoy this episode.  Keep your ears open for new episodes of my podcast and send me some questions.

Doug in a Pub - Episode 1 Hate, suicide and sex toys
Download this episode In this first podcast from Doug in a Pub, I try to get the podcast ball rolling. I talk about the word hate. It is a lazy word and the first I tried to eliminate from my vocabulary.  I discuss my failed suicide attempt and how we as a society need to talk about it more. I tell a story about helping strangers on Facebook by sex toys.
