Last week Dr.Vikki had a consult with a woman at Sloane Kettering in NY. Dr.Vikki made a full protocol for her. When the patient talked to the nurse before the operation, the nurse freaked out and told her she should leave Sloane and go to a smaller local hospital for her care. What the hell? This patient was at Sloane because they have good surgeons. A local hospital is not going to do any better with a protocol. The psychological attitude that if you ask for things for your care you that you need to leave your hospital is not ethical. The nurse needs to learn a new way to cope other than tell patients to go somewhere else. Patients have the right to ask questions and ask for care they want. This is an issue still needed to evolve in medical care. This is one area that DOCTORVIKKI@gmail.com has been a leader in for over 30 years.
