News: The D23 Expo is coming up later this year, and the ticket details have finally been released. For D23 Gold Members, a 1-day ticket is $89 for an adult and $79 for children aged 3-12. The 3-day ticket is $229 per adult and $209 per child. This year, all ticket purchasers must be at least a D23 General Member to buy tickets. Becoming a General Member is free. Ticket pricing for General Members is $99 for a 1-day adult ticket, and $279 for a 3-day adult ticket. Children’s tickets are the same price. Also new this year is the Hall D23 Preferred Seating package that is available for $899 for a 3-day ticket. Tickets go on sale for Disney Visa Card holders at 10am pacific on January 19th. General availability opens at noon pacific on January 20th. – https://d23.com/d23-expo-2022-details/ Next month is Magic Key Holder Celebration Month at Disneyland. Two posters will be offered to Magic Key Holders, one featuring the mountains of the Disneyland Resort, and the other featuring transportation. The mountains print will be offered February 1st through the 15th, with the transportation print being offered February 16th through the 28th, while supplies last. PhotoPass magic shots were also announced. A Peter Pan shadow shot will be at Disneyland, while a Steamboat Willie shot will be at Disney California Adventure. Both Magic Shots will be complimentary for Magic Key Holders. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/disneyland-announces-free-printed-posters-and-special-photopass-magic-shots-for-magic-key-holder-celebration-month/ Some locations may have limited hours or modified menus around the resort in the coming weeks. This is due to the staffing shortages and rise in omicron cases in cast members. Without staff to work the kitchens or man the positions for different locations, Disney is unable to keep things running as normal. However, the resort has updated its protocols for positive cases in cast members to being able to return to work 5 days after a negative test, instead of the old policy of 10 days after symptoms resolve. – https://www.micechat.com/312204-disneyland-news-update-genie-crowds-holiday-removal/ Some more additions are now available for lightsabers at Savi’s Workshop in Batuu. Two lightsaber hilts, one with a Loth Cat grinning, and the other with a Rancor. These screw onto the bottom of any lightsaber offered for purchase and are $24.99 each. No discounts are offered. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/14/you-can-put-what-on-a-star-wars-lightsaber-in-disneyland/ This week is all about the food. In Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a new dish has landed at Docking Bay 7 – the Dewback Chili Noodles. The dish is made up of spiced Papperdelle Noodles and Gingered Ground Pork with Brussels Sprout Leaves and Shredded Red Cabbage. Guests can try this for $15.49. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/14/review-star-wars-food-with-a-little-spice-we-can-get-behind-this-disney/ A new exclusive candy apple is available at Marceline’s Confectionary in Downtown Disney. The Grogu candy apple is a classic candy apple, inspired by Grogu, also known as “the child” from the Mandalorian. The apple is covered in green chocolate with large eyes, and, of course, cute little ears. The bottom is made to look like his brown outfit. Guests can pick one up for $12.99 for a limited time. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/14/we-thought-we-had-seen-disneys-best-baby-yoda-treats-until-now/ A new churro has taken the internet by storm this week. The Lemon Bar Churro has landed at the Grizzly Peak Churro Cart in Disney California Adventure. The churro is rolled in crushed vanilla wafer sugar with a tart lemon drizzle. The Disney Food Blog says it tastes just like eating a lemon bar in churro form. This version will set you back $6.75. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/15/review-disney-just-combined-2-of-our-favorite-desserts-and-were-in-love/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/15/review-disney-peanut-butter-chocolate-churro-need-we-say-more/ If beignets are your jam, then stop on by the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square for a new flavor. The Butter Cookie Mickey Beignets are the classic beignet, coated in shortbread cookie flavored powered sugar. The cookie butter dipping sauce is an excellent side for this beignet and is sold separately. They come in a 3-pack for $5.49, or a 6-pack for $8.99. The side of dipping sauce is $0.89. According to reviews, the dipping sauce is a MUST for this treat. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/14/we-didnt-think-we-could-love-mickey-beignets-more-then-disneyland-did-this/ Beignets aren’t the only thing with a new variation! The Royal Street Verana now has limited time Bacon Cheddar Jalapeno fritters. The fritters are served with a cheddar cheese dipping sauce. The jalapeno is not overly present, so it isn’t spicy. There is a good mix of flavors, but the fritter itself can be a bit greasy. For $5.99, guests can get 3 of the new item, sauce included. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/review-new-limited-time-bacon-cheddar-jalapeno-fritters-from-royal-street-veranda-at-disneyland/ A new take on a classic has appeared in Frontierland. The Strawberry Ice Cream Float is available at the Golden Horseshoe for $5.99. The treat is Sprite, with stawberry ice cream and topped with whipped cream. Basically, a root beer float, but with Sprite and Strawberry ice cream, instead of Root Beer and Vanilla ice cream. The drink is reported to be a bit messy, so be ready with a lot of napkins. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/review-share-a-new-sprite-strawberry-ice-cream-float-from-golden-horseshoe-with-your-sweetheart-for-valentines-day-at-disneyland/ With Valentines Day coming up in less than a month, a new sweet drink has come to Red Rose Tavern. The Strawberry Sweetheart Tea is black tea with lemon, and is sweetened with strawberries. Don’t let the name fool you, it is a frozen drink that looks more like a smoothie than anything resembling tea. The new drink tastes like sweet tea mized with strawberry puree. The lemon is not very pronounced at all. Guests can enjoy this sweetheart drink for $6.49 in Fantasyland. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/review-strawberry-sweetheart-tea-is-a-sweet-slushy-valentines-day-treat-at-disneyland-park/ Fans of the Hungry Bear and the funnel cakes at this location should get excited! A new Red Velvet funnel cake is offered for the Valentine’s season. The funnel cake is made with red velvet batter, and topped with cream cheese icing, strawberry ice cream, and whipped cream. It can be a bit rich, but looks like an excellent seasonal offering for $8.99. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/review-celebrate-the-season-of-love-with-red-velvet-funnel-cake-from-hungry-bear-restaurant-at-disneyland/ Discussion Topic: Lunar New Year Disney Parks Blog – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2011/02/happy-lunar-new-year-festival-at-disneyland-park-feb-4-6-and-11-13/ AllEars.net – https://allears.net/2012/01/19/happy-lunar-new-year-celebration-at-disneyland-park-fact-sheet/ AllEars.net – https://allears.net/2012/01/21/disneylands-lunar-new-year-celebration/ AllEars.net – https://allears.net/2018/01/27/disney-california-adventure-lunar-new-year-celebration-the-year-of-the-dog/ MiceChat – https://www.micechat.com/312034-disneyland-merchandise-update-lunar-new-year-and-more/ MiceChat – https://www.micechat.com/312637-disney-california-adventure-lunar-new-year-eats-and-treats/ Disneyland.com – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/events-tours/lunar-new-year/

News: A galaxy far, far away came to Disneyland 35 years ago recently. This was the first time that fans of the Star Wars universe could actually be apart of the universe, years before Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The opening of the landmark attraction was celebrated by the park staying open for 60 hours. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/01/star-tours-at-disneyland-park-celebrates-35-years-of-galactic-adventures/ Another great sign of progress to get the trams back operating for guests is underway. There are construction walls up around the loading area in Downtown Disney, with paving taking place behind the walls. According to our friend David over at FreshBaked reported that 7 trams are in operation and being tested, up from just 4 recently. – https://www.micechat.com/311792-disneyland-update-lightning-lane-shenanigans-and-staffing-problems/ and https://wdwnt.com/2022/01/photos-downtown-disney-parking-tram-station-construction/ Lunar New Year is coming up quick on February 1st. To celebrate, the mural in Downtown Disney on the corner of the former ESPN building has been updated to reflect the occasion. Being the year of the tiger, the mural includes Tigger, along with Mushu, Mulan, Chip, Dale, and Goofy. The artwork was created by Disney Live Entertainment art director Elizabeth Lisa Kang. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/photos-new-lunar-new-year-mural-featuring-tigger-in-downtown-disney-district/ A slighly healthier snack has come to Disney California Adventure. Chocolate covered bananas have debuted at Carabelle’s Ice Cream Shop. Not only will they be covered in chocolate, but also with a variety of toppings. Rainbow sprinkles, Mickey confetti, crushed peanuts, and crushed waffle cone. This follows the return of the bananas to Walt Disney World a couple of months ago. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/09/weve-been-waiting-for-this-treat-to-arrive-in-disneyland/ Some popular Disney treats have seen a price increase recently at Walt Disney World. This could mean that the price changes are coming to Disneyland in the future. Some notable prices are $5 for a 20oz bottle of soda, Mickey Premium Bars up to $6.25, and the Dole Whip at $6.99. It is not certain that prices will increase, but something to keep an eye on. Some of the items at the restaurants have also increased by a couple of dollars each. – https://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions/epcot/news/10jan2022-disney-hikes-the-price-of-mickey-bars-and-dole-whips-along-with-hundreds-of-other-food-and-beverage-items-at-walt-disney-world.htm The Disneyland Monorail will be going down for refurbishment, possibly in relation to the changes coming to the Downtown Disney District in February. Currently, the monorail is scheduled to close February 14th, with no exact end on the calendar yet. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/06/disneylands-monorail-to-close-temporarily-this-month/ There are just a few more days to visit a couple locations in Downtown Disney. Earl of Sandwich is currently scheduled to close on January 22nd, Sugarboo & Co will close on January 16th. The Starbucks located in the same building as Earl of Sandwich has already closed. This is in preperation for the makeover of this section of the shopping district, which should be starting soon. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/13096/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_January_10___16_2022#news0 and https://www.micechat.com/311809-disneyland-news-monorail-downtown-disney-shops-prepare-to-close-in-advance-renovation/ With the recent surge in COVID cases, due to the omicron variant, staffing at the resort has been challenging. The resort has been cross training as many cast members as possible and moving cast members around as much as possible to limit the impact of the shortages. The most notable closure is Napa Rose. Reservations were cancelled for guests who had booked dining at the location, due to staffing issues. – https://www.micechat.com/311792-disneyland-update-lightning-lane-shenanigans-and-staffing-problems/ Disney Vacation Club members should be aware of some new changes to the program. Interval International exchanges are now officially available. Exchanges with this program include thousands of resorts all over the world, including “high-quality properties” such as Marriott, Sheraton, Hyatt, and Westin. Disney Stays include not only Disney Vacation Club Resorts, but also traditional Disney Resort hotel exchange options. Disney Experiences include exchange options like Disney Cruise Line voyages, Adventures by Disney guided trips, National Geographic Expeditions, and the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. – https://wdwnt.com/2022/01/disney-vacation-club-adds-new-exchange-options-for-disney-experiences-and-non-disney-resorts-through-interval-international/ The next century of the Walt Disney Company is just around the corner, and CEO Bob Chapek has released some goals for the next century. Chapek released the “three pillars of success” in a memo to Cast Members. The three pillars are storytelling excellence, innovation, and relentless focus on the audience. On the surface, these pillars are exactly what the public expects from the company currently, and are nothing new. Time will tell what these pillars mean for the company going forward and what will change based on these. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/ceo-bob-chapek-establishes-his-three-pillars-of-success-for-the-next-century-of-the-walt-disney-company/ Discussion Topic: Star Tours Deep Dive Disney Parks Blog – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/01/star-tours-at-disneyland-park-celebrates-35-years-of-galactic-adventures/ Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Tours WDWNT – https://wdwnt.com/2022/01/looking-back-on-the-history-and-impact-of-the-original-star-tours-35-years-later/ Behind the Attraction – Episode 3

News: The holidays are coming to an end soon, but one holiday treat just arrived at Disneyland. The Holiday Dole Whip is now available at the Tropical Hideaway for $6.79. This version is a swirl of cherry and lime dole whip, with festive sprinkles and a gummy on top. The flavor has been described like cherry limeaid, being a bit sour, and very sweet. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/30/this-new-disneyland-dole-whip-tastes-like-sour-gummy-worms/ In Disney California Adventure’s Paradise Gardens, guests can celebrate 3 Kings Day. From January 3rd through the 9th, special decorations and photo ops will be in the area to experience. – https://www.micechat.com/311498-disneyland-update-new-year-magic-and-mayhem/ Salt and Straw in Downtown Disney is at it again with more new flavors. This time, they are all vegan as well! The new flavors are inspired by cupcakes, with flavors like carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, Coconut Cream Pie with Lemon Curd, Chocolate Salted Caramel, Rainbow Sprinkled Babycakes, and a Chocolate Hazelnut Cupcake option. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/04/cupcakes-and-ice-cream-find-us-in-line-at-this-disney-scoop-shop/ Lovepop in Downtown Disney had a bit of a rough opening just before Christmas, and then was closed for a couple of days after. The new shop is open daily now and offers pop-up greeting cards with intricate designs. They also offer a line of Disney cards, but beyond that, they are just a unique greeting card store. – https://www.micechat.com/310913-disneyland-update-christmas-out-prices-up-and-changes-ahead/ This year, guests had a much better experience at the resort for the New Year celebration. With the reservation system being in place, the parks never closed their gates to guests and the crowds were pretty manageable. Fireworks were launched over Paradise Bay at DCA, and over Sleeping Beauty Castle on Main Street to ring in the new year. Stages were setup around the parks to host DJs for the evening. – https://www.micechat.com/311498-disneyland-update-new-year-magic-and-mayhem/ Magic Keyholders will have an updated location to dine soon. The Magic Key Terrace will be closing mid-January to add some more colorful elements, replace the furniture, and update the lighting fixtures. This update should really liven the place up and make it a more comfortable place to take a break and have a drink or a bite to eat. – https://www.micechat.com/311498-disneyland-update-new-year-magic-and-mayhem/ The Disneyland Hotel is getting some updates that are very magical. Carpet has been replaced near Goofy’s Kitchen and now features designs inspired by Sleeping Beauty. The new carpet looks like it jumped right off the screen and onto the floor of the hotel. – https://www.micechat.com/310913-disneyland-update-christmas-out-prices-up-and-changes-ahead/ Listeners who have tickets for Villains Nite or Star Wars Nite that were rescheduled, this message is for you. February, 2022 will be Magic Keyholder Celebration Month. Disneyland announced the month long celebration of Key Holders happening in the parks, Downtown Disney, and at home! No specific details have been released on what will be offered in February, but we will keep you posted as news is released. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/16/disneyland-magic-key-holders-prepare-to-be-celebrated-for-a-whole-month-next-year/ An unhappy Magic Key Holder has filed a lawsuit against Disney for “deceiving it’s most loyal fan base by artificially limiting theme park capacity and blocking passholders with ‘no blockout’ annual passes from making reservations.” The lawsuit is a $5 million dollar suit filed on behalf of all Disneyland Magic Key holders claiming that Disney “relegated them to ‘second class’ ticket holders by artificially limiting Magic Key reservations and the number of passholders that can visit on any given day.” Disneyland has said that they will “vigorously defend our position as the case proceeds.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/12/16/disneyland-passholder-lawsuit-alleges-magic-key-deceptively-advertises-no-blockout-dates/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/20/disney-responds-to-5-million-magic-key-and-park-reservation-lawsuit/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/magic-key-terms-conditions/ When we were in the parks a couple of weeks ago, there were quite a few PhotoPass photographers who were trying to take amazing photos, and control the crowds at the same time. This week, it appears that they have received some help at Sleeping Beauty Castle with rops to direct guests around the optimal PhotoPass photo area. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ For guests that have been pre-screened for the Disability Access Service or DAS (pronounced DAAHS) now have a new option available in the Disneyland App. Return times can be reserved through the app after the service has been linked to a ticket, making it unncessary to visit with a guest relations cast member to make a reservation. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ Single bobsled riders should take note of this next news item. The single rider line has moved at the Matterhorn from the area where the Lightning Lane return area was, to the right side exit of the attraction, towards the teacups. This should help alleviate at least some of the congestion that can happen where the three lines come together at the entrance. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ With the opening of the Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe on Main Street, the holiday shop in Fantasyland has been re-themed. The location, now called Merlin’s Marvelous Miscellany, received a new sign sporting the new name last week. No information on what will be offered in the shop just yet. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ The Disney Parks Blog has some festive holiday digital wallpapers available for download. Each design comes in mobile, desktop, and Apple Watch versions for all screen sizes. Designs include Mickey Mouse getting ready to hit the slopes, Mike and Sully playing outside in the snow, Rocket and Groot strung up in lights, and many more. Head on over to the link in our show notes to download the version that best says Happy Holidays for you. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/celebrate-the-holiday-season-with-new-disney-digital-wallpapers/ A new, ecological way to get around the Anaheim Resort District is coming soon. Sage Energy Consulting is working with the Anaheim Transportation Network to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce electricity costs, and charge the new vehicles. Some of the charging stations are solar powered, and work with batteries to store power when the sun is out, and charge the busses when it is a cloudy day, or at night. The goal is to have a 100% electric fleet by 2025. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/17/how-your-ride-to-disneyland-will-be-different-in-the-future/ Fans of soccer, or football as it is known everywhere else in the world, now have a place to shop in Downtown Disney. Lunar New Year and Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festivals are returning in 2022. The Lunar New Year celebration in 2022 is based on the Year of the Tiger, so Tigger will be joining the festivities. Raya, from Raya and the Last Dragon will make her debut at Disneyland for the celebration as well. The Lunar New Year runs January 21st through February 13th. Starting March 4th and running through April 26th, the Food and Wine Festival will return. Sip and Savor passes will be offered for both celebrations. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/fan-favorite-limited-time-festivals-return-to-the-disneyland-resort-in-2022-lunar-new-year-and-disney-california-adventure-food-wine-festival/ As we have been covering for a few weeks now, Jessica Rabbit is taking over Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. Last week, Jessica Rabbit, dressed in her best detective outfit, made her appearance in the attraction. A new figure was placed next to the car trunk that she used to be inside of, then where she held the sledgehammer, she has been changed over to the new look, and finally, her silhouette has been updated in the queue to reflect the new look. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/11/photos-new-detective-jessica-rabbit-animatronic-debuts-at-disneyland/ and https://www.micechat.com/309922-roger-rabbit-cover-up-at-disneyland-jessicas-new-starring-role/ The Disability Access Service, better known as “DAS” has been improved! Starting with visits on December 20th, guests who utilize the service can pre-register for the service virtually with a Cast Member. To do this, guests use a live video chat feature as early as 30 days prior to their visit, but no less than 2 days before arrival. Guests can then book up to two one-hour return windows for select experiences, per day in advance. In the future, Disney says that guests enrolled in the system will be able to same-day self-select an attraction, without having to visit with guest relations. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/07/guests-can-now-virtually-pre-register-for-disneylands-disability-access-service/ It was great to be able to ride it’s a small world on it’s first day of operation for the holiday season, but it took a lot of work to get it open! The Disney Parks Blog documented the process. The underground maintenance room of the attraction, known as “the pit” flooded on November 10th, while refilling was underway. Almost all of the ride control machinery is in the pit, and was submerged in at least 7 feet of water. Twenty different teams sprung into action to get the attraction working again. They set a timeline of 4 weeks to get it operational again. More than 200,000 gallons of water needed to be pumped out of the pit before teams could even begin to determine the damage. Teams worked to determine what could be cleaned and salvaged, and what needed to be replaced. Many of the spare parts which they could use were stored in the same pit. The team reached out to small world attractions around the world to get the needed parts. They met the goal of under 4 weeks and reopened the attraction on December 6th. The timeline was expected to be several months under normal conditions. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/how-disneyland-resort-cast-rallied-to-open-its-a-small-world-holiday/ We saw first hand how the launch of the Genie system in Disneyland went last week. The first hour or so worked well as we were able to buy our Genie+ service, and make a couple of Lightning Lane reservations for Guardians and Midway Mania. We were even able to mobile order some food and have a lot of PhotoPass photos taken. About an hour into the day, the entire system went mostly unresponsive. The free Genie service to plan the day only displayed an error, and reservations for Lightning Lane attractions could not be made. Even the Lightning Lane+ pay-per-attraction options were not available. However, around 5pm, the system seemed to come back online and continued to work for us perfectly until the end of the night. Even the couple hours the next morning, the free portion of the service seemed to be working well. – https://www.micechat.com/309918-disneyland-update-genie-fail-entertainment-holiday/ If, like us, you were in the parks on December 10th for the launch of Genie+, and you used the service, you may have received an email from Disneyland. The email states that they are “working to provide recovery” for the launch. Not exactly sure what that means at this time, but it is possible that Disney will either refund guests, or provide some other perk for the inconvenience. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/13/select-disneyland-genie-users-to-be-provided-recovery/ A new Star Wars photo opportunity has come to Downtown Disney. Next to the Star Wars Trading Post, there are two new displays for The Book of Boba Fett, the new Disney+ show coming later this month. The first is a throne that Boba can be seen sitting on in the trailer for the new show. The second is a sand crawler, which fans will know from the original movies and the Mandalorian. – https://www.micechat.com/309918-disneyland-update-genie-fail-entertainment-holiday/ A strange construction project that drew a lot of attention has finally been completed. The right side of the walkway to ToonTown has finally come out from behind construction walls and has been revealed to be an ADA access ramp. Theories had been talked about like a new Lightning Lane queue, or other odd options, but this is just an ADA ramp for people needing the less bumpy path and slighly less grade going to ToonTown. – https://www.micechat.com/309918-disneyland-update-genie-fail-entertainment-holiday/ It is going to be easier to spot former Disneyland, and other Disney Parks Ambassadors in the future. New gold Disney Ambassador Alumni name tags have been created that take their inspiration from Walt Disney’s Disneyland employee #1 badge. The new name tags were presented to the current alumni at a recent alumni gathering. So, next time you are in the parks, be on the lookout for a gold name tag to see if you are in the presence of a former Disneyland Ambassador. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/new-alumni-name-tag-for-disney-ambassadors/ It has been a little while since guest’s paper parks have been able to grow – until now. A new Disney Paper Parks: Holiday Edition has been posted on the Disney Parks Blog. The Paper Parks are designed by Imagineers for all to enjoy. The holiday version is 12 ornaments, for the 12 days of Christmas, featuring different parks around the world. Starting in Disneyland and moving through all the parks around the world, this is a set not to be missed! To download the Paper Parks, visit the link in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/disney-parks-blog-presents-disney-paper-parks-holiday-edition-designed-by-walt-disney-imagineering-part-4/ We have spoken before about the great relationship that Disney has with the Make a Wish Foundation. Last week, Disneyland hosted a Galaxy of Wishes fundraising event in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The money raised from this event will help the Make a Wish Foundation be able to grant more wishes for children with critical illnesses. Disneyland was part of the first wish back in 1980. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/galaxy-of-wishes-disneyland-resort-and-make-a-wish-join-forces-to-create-more-magic/ We wanted to have the final update on the Cast Member union negotiations and voting that took place a couple of weeks ago. The Cast Members voted to accept the current contract, which will offer $1 per hour retroactive to June 16, 2021, $1 per hour starting June 16, 2022, but being pulled forward to November 17th, 2021, and a final $1 per hour on June 16, 2023. Cast members who were hired on or before June 16, 2001 will get $2000 for fulltime and $1000 for part time, one time payments. Cast members hired between June 17th, 2001 and June 16, 2011 will receive $1000 for full time and $500 for part time, one time payments. DLW 212: Social Clubs with Stephanie

News: A holiday tradition is returning to the parks next week! The famous Disneyland Resort candy canes will be on sale again at the Candy Palace And Candy Kitchen on Main Street December 7th, 9th, 15th, 21st, and 23rd. Over at Disney California Adventure, they will be on sale December 8th, 14th, 16th, and 22nd at Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street. A mobile waitlist system will be in place to get one of these confections, and there is a limit of 1 per guest, with no discounts accepted. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/foodie-guide-to-holiday-candy-at-disneyland-resort/ The Candlelight Processional will again take place at Disneyland, after not being opened last year. There are two nights, with four total performances on December 4th and 5th at 5:30pm and 7:45pm. If you are not a member of the media, a Club 33 member, or an invited guest, your best bet to see the performance will be for the second performance each night as the limited seating area is cleared in-between performances. – https://www.micechat.com/308957-disneyland-update-candy-canes-candlelight-holiday-surprise/ The hotels of the Disneyland Resort have finished their holiday transformations this year. Some of the things that guests can experience include an under the sea themed Christmas tree at the Paradise Pier Hotel, a vintage-inspired mural at the Disneyland Hotel, and, of course the massive tree, with ornaments inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement of California at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. In addition, the gingerbread house at the Grand Californian is a site to behold, with treats for sale nearby. Santa Claus will be at each of the hotels from November 25th through December 24th, with handbell carolers at the Grand Californian now through January 9th, and holiday carolers strolling between the Disneyland Hotel and the Paradise Pier Hotel December 15th through the 25th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/the-holidays-are-magical-at-the-hotels-of-the-disneyland-resort/ We talked about it’s a small world’s problems that came from flooding of the attraction just prior to it reopening for the holiday season. No official updates, but MiceChat reports that people are working around the clock to get the attraction open as soon as possible. The Disneyland calendar continues to push the “refurbishment” listed out one day at a time, hoping for a miracle. Our sources indicate that a miracle is what it will take to get it opened before the end of the holiday season. – https://www.micechat.com/308957-disneyland-update-candy-canes-candlelight-holiday-surprise/ Avengers Campus has been terrific in how often different Avengers and other Marvel characters cycle into and out of the new land. This time, Hawkeye and Kate Bishop from the new Disney+ series Hawkeye will be battling the Tracksuit Mafia, then taking part in meet and greets with guests. The battle will take place on select days on the rooftop of Avengers Headquarters. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/24/catch-hawkeye-defending-avengers-campus-in-disney-california-adventure/ Splash Mountain is going down for refurbishment starting on January 10th. Some online think that this will begin the changeover to The Princess and the Frog theme that is coming sometime in the future. Since there has not been any word from Disney on this, we are going to assume that this is the annual maintenance for the attraction, just like Grizzly River Run each winter at the resort. If anything changes, or gets announced, we will let you know! – https://www.micechat.com/262305-breaking-news-splash-mountain-to-become-princess-and-the-frog-themed/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/30/news-2-popular-rides-will-temporarily-close-soon-in-disneyland/ For guests wanting to upgrade to a Magic Key, the options are getting less and less. Last week, we reported on the Dream Key being sold out, and now the Believe Key has also sold out. The only keys left are the Enchant Key, and the SoCal only Imagine Key. This follows Annual Pass sales being suspended in Walt Disney World to help control the level of crowds in the parks. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/24/news-another-disneyland-resort-magic-key-pass-has-sold-out/ Amazon and Disney have partnered together to offer Alexa services to hotel guests in Disney World and next year at Disneyland. Current Amazon smart device owners can ask their devices to “launch Avengers Campus recruitment” to be taken on an interactive audio tour of Avengers Campus. It is a fun addition to the smart device and can be used to get your family excited for the next trip! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/28/take-a-tour-of-disneys-avengers-campus-from-home-with-amazon-alexa/ The union negotiations and another vote is on the horizon for the cast members at Disneyland. Since cast members at DCA have already voted to approve the contract, only Disneyland Park cast members are holding another vote to decide of they will strike or not. They need a 75% vote to strike, and only 60% voted down the contract, so there is still a ways to go. The vote takes place on December 3rd to decide to accept the contract, or to strike. MiceChat recommends travel insurance if you are going to Disneyland in December or January, as a strike would likely shutdown the resort. – https://www.micechat.com/308957-disneyland-update-candy-canes-candlelight-holiday-surprise/ Discussion Topic: Stephanie F – Social Clubs at Disneyland SoCal Funseekers – Disney Movie Meets and other events https://www.facebook.com/groups/899875317467577 Disneyana Fan Club https://disneyanafanclub.weebly.com/ Disneyland Alumni Club https://www.disneylandalumni.org/ MiceChat.com https://www.micechat.com/

DLW 211: MagicBands are Coming!
This week, a lot of news from the Destination D event last weekend in Florida, changes coming to Downtown Disney, the new dining location has opened near Harbor Galley, we finish our talk with author and former cast member Bruce, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. If you want some DLWeekly Swag, you can pick some up at https://www.dlweekly.net/store/. News: Olaf has worked his magic, because something is coming to Disneyland that was never expected to: MagicBands! Not just any MagicBands, the new MagicBand +. The new MagicBand+ will offer “glow with the show” type color changing lights, haptic vibrations, and gesture recognition. The new version will allow guests to interact with things in the park, making it a more immersive experience. The previous features of the MagicBands like theme park tickets, room keys, and purchases will also still be available. MagicBand+ is expected to debut in Disneyland in 2022, after Walt Disney World. – https://d23.com/just-announced-disney-parks-shares-new-details-on-guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-rewind-the-30th-anniversary-of-disneyland-paris-and-more/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/just-announced-magicband-will-debut-in-2022-at-walt-disney-world-resort-as-part-of-50th-anniversary-celebration/ The cancelling of the new hotel on the west side of Downtown Disney a few years ago left everyone wondering what was going to happen to the space that is now empty, like the old AMC theater location. At the Destination D event this weekend, we got a glimpse into what is planned. The old AMC theater building will be demolished, and a new green space with room for guests to lounge and relax will be in it’s place. The area will also have a stage for performances. This means that the current Starbucks, Earl of Sandwich, and Sugarboo & Co. will again be forced to close for a second time. The concept art does show a building to the east of the area that may offer a place for these establishments in the future, but no announcements have been made. – https://d23.com/just-announced-disney-parks-shares-new-details-on-guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-rewind-the-30th-anniversary-of-disneyland-paris-and-more/ It has been a while since we have heard anything about the new Disney Vacation Club tower coming to the Disneyland Hotel in the future. Work has been progressing on the site recently, and Disney showed off some more concept art from the project, including what the rooms will look like. The new room design will take inspiration from the “sketching style of Walt Disney himself.” The new tower will feature 350 guest rooms and should open in 2023. – https://d23.com/just-announced-disney-parks-shares-new-details-on-guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-rewind-the-30th-anniversary-of-disneyland-paris-and-more/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/20/photos-take-a-look-inside-the-new-dvc-tower-coming-to-disneyland-hotel/ The new dinign area for Harbor Galley opened last week, sooner than expected. Pelican’s Landing is the name and theme of this new seating area along the Rivers of America between Harbor Galley across from the Haunted Mansion, and the rafts to Tom Sawyer Island. The area has a lot of nautical details and adds a lot of seating in this area of the park. Some informational signs are also on display, giving some information about the Mark Twain, Sailing Ship Columbia, and some of the local plants and nautical equipment. – https://www.micechat.com/308538-dateline-disneyland-redevelopments-major-changes-possible-strike/ The day has finally come! Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is testing standby only, with no boarding group required. This is testing our theory that the attraction is in so much demand because of the queue system. We will see this week what the wait times are with just standby. The removal of the virtual queue is also a first step in heading towards Genie+ and Lightning Lane coming to Disneyland in the future. – https://www.micechat.com/308538-dateline-disneyland-redevelopments-major-changes-possible-strike/ With all of the holiday fun going on inside the parks, Downtown Disney has joined in on the fun as well. The Disney Ultimate Toy Drive, which supports Toys for Tots is available, in addition to lots of treats, drinks, food, and merchandise offerings. Of course there is also entertainment! Holiday Harmony, The Moonrays, and The Sugarplums a capella carolers will perform in the evenings Fridays through Sundays November 26th through December 26th. Main stage bands will also perform near the Downtown Disney District main stage. Of course the Star Wars: Tales fro the Galaxy’s Edge will also entertain guests. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/enjoy-the-splendor-of-the-season-at-downtown-disney-district-at-the-disneyland-resort/ An interesting take on gift cards is coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World soon. The Holiday Pin Series features a gift card, along with a character pin as an added bonus. The gift cards with pins must be activated at $100, with the limited edition pin included at no additional cost. There are 4 sets, with Stitch, Mickey Mouse, Grogu, and Olaf. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/11/first-look-new-100-holiday-gift-cards-with-pins-coming-to-walt-disney-world-and-disneyland-resort/ One of Teresa’s favorite details that was added outside of Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout has been having some issues recently. The “space goo” that is scattered around the area has started to shrink in some areas, causing the area to be uneven. Some of the goo has even come undone from the walkway, leaving holes. No word on if Disney is going to repair, replace, or just remove this theme detail. – https://www.micechat.com/308538-dateline-disneyland-redevelopments-major-changes-possible-strike/ The vote on the cast member union agreement did not go as smooth as it should have. Some voting irregularities came up, such as cast members getting the wrong park ballot, observers being kicked out before counting was complete, and rejected ballots. We are waiting for what the next step will be, and will pass that information along to you once we know something. – https://www.micechat.com/306249-disneyland-contract-troubles-leave-cast-concerned/ Discussion Topic: Author and Former Cast Member Bruce Edwards – Main Street Magic Shop Amazon – https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09J7HJ851 Barnes and Noble – https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/nothing-up-my-sleeve-but-pixie-dust-bruce-edwards/1140355973 Etsy – https://www.etsy.com/shop/bruceedwardsbooks

News: Some major changes are coming to Mickey’s ToonTown in 2023 with the opening of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Josh D’Amaro announced at the IAAPA theme park expo in Orlando that the land would close in March of 2022 to make the changes. The only confirmed information is that there will be a reimagining of the entrance to the land, adding a couple of green spaces for parents and children to relax and play together. The current ToonTown park will expand into CenTOONial Park. It appears that the Jolly Trolley and tracks will be removed and replaced with a new fountain. The concept art also seems to show changes to Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin, and possibly even another entrance to Galaxy’s Edge. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/mickeys-toontown-at-disneyland-park-to-be-reimagined-with-new-experiences-and-more-play-and-interactivity-for-young-families-in-2023/ and https://www.micechat.com/307775-disneylands-toontown-closing-in-2022-for-enhancements/ The holidays at the Disneyland Resort kicked off this past Friday. Along with some new offerings, this also marked the return of parades at Disneyland with the Christmas Fantasy Parade. Characters are dressed in their holiday best, decorations all over the parks, the return of Believe… In Holiday Magic Fireworks, and more. Over at Disney California Adventure, the Festival of the Holidays has returned, Disney Viva Navidad along with it, and so much more. The Disney Food Blog was there and wrote up their experience. Main Street had the Victorian Era party, with some characters dressed as Scrooge and ghost Marley from A Christmas Carol, the Muppets were caroling from the Omnibus as it drive up and down Main Street as well. New Orleans Square had a bayou-inspired celebration, Miguel was hosting a fiesta in Frontierland, Lilo and Stitch were having a tropical celebration in Adventureland, Elsa hosted a winter party in Fantasyland, and finally, Buzz Lightyear hosted an electronic party in Tomorrowland. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/12/caroling-muppets-and-ghost-goofy-all-the-entertainment-we-spotted-at-disneylands-holiday-party/ Of course with the Merriest Nites celebration, there was some new merchandise exclusive to the event. This year, they put the merchandise behind a mobile wait list system. Once guests entered the mobile waitlist, they were notified when it was their turn to go to Star Wars Launch Bay to look at the items on sale. The items included a Tumbler for $34.99, a Pin for $17.99, a Magnet for $14.99, an Ornament for $19.99, and an iPhone Case for $34.99. The artwork includes all six character “hosts” from the event, as well as Mickey and Minnie in holiday caroling outfits. There were also two Merriest Nites tees. A red version with the hosts and the castle, and a white version with Mickey and Minnie in their caroling outfits. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/12/all-the-exclusive-merriest-nites-merchandise-at-disneyland/ One of the flagship items for the first of the Merriest Nites events didn’t go as planned. it’s a small world was planned to debut the holiday overlay version, but was unable to open because of flooding. The transformation to the holiday version was complete and the refilling of the flume was underway when there was a small flood, which resulted in shorting out some electrical equipment. Until that equipment can be replaced or repaired, it’s a small world will remain closed. – https://www.micechat.com/307360-disneyland-news-small-world-holiday-delayed/ and https://www.micechat.com/307512-disneyland-update-the-down-low-on-the-ho-ho-ho/ The new Disney movie Encanto doesn’t come out for over a week, but guests can already meet the main character in the parks. Mirabel can be seen as part of the Viva Navidad celebration in the Paradise Garden area of Disney California Adventure. The movie Encanto comes to theaters on November 24th. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/11/photos-video-mirabel-from-disneys-encanto-now-greeting-guests-at-disney-california-adventure/ Weeklyteers have been raving about a new dessert available at Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Square. The Hot Cocoa Creme Brulee comes will a side of sugar cookies, and is a must try for chocolate lovers. The Disney Food Blog describes the dessert as a mix between pudding and custard, with a layer of toasted sugar on top, topped with homemade whipped cream and marshmallows. This dessert is available through the holiday season for $10. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/11/review-hot-cocoa-creme-brulee-is-an-amazing-dessert-at-cafe-orleans-in-disneyland/ Oogie Boogie has moved out of the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa’s lobby for this year, and in his place is a large gingerbread house for the holidays. The gingerbread house will look like the hotel itself. The snack cart is still next to the display, selling sweets and some beverages. – https://www.micechat.com/307512-disneyland-update-the-down-low-on-the-ho-ho-ho/ Friday, November 12th was Disney+ Day around the entire Walt Disney Company. The celebration lasted through the weekend at the parks, with a blue carpet greeting for guests at Disneyland on Friday. All of the park icons were lit up in “Disney+ Blue” for the occassion. Special photo opportunities were around the parks as well. On Disney+ itself, a lot of new shows and movies debuted, along with announcements of future shows like Agatha: House of Harkness, Marvel Zombies, and Echo. For all the new Marvel stuff coming to the service, be sure to watch the preview on Disney+ or on YouTube. We will have the link in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/disney-castles-icons-glow-disney-blue-as-disney-rolls-out-blue-carpet-for-disney-plus-day/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/11/photos-colorful-murals-highlighting-streaming-movies-series-come-to-downtown-disney-district-for-disney/ With the replacement of the Photo Supply store at the end of Main Street and transforming it into the Plaza Holiday Shoppe, it left us wondering what is happening to Kingswell Camera Shop on Buena Vista Street. At this time, only Radiator Springs Racers, WEB Slingers, and Rise of the Resistance will be on the Lightning Lane+ service. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/08/disneyland-reveals-new-disney-genie-details-heres-how-the-itinerary-planning-app-works/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/disney-genie-launching-at-walt-disney-world-resort/ At Disneyland, the following attractions will feature Lightning Lane as part of the Genie+ paid service. To be clear, these are part of the $20 per guest, per day Genie+ service, and not part of the Lightning Lane additional charge. Autopia, Big Thunder, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones, it’s a small world, Matterhorn, Smuggler’s Run, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Star Tours. Over in DCA, Goofy’s Sky School, Grizzly River Run, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout, Incredicoaster, Monsters, Inc., Soarin’, and Midway Mania. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/08/disneyland-announces-22-rides-where-you-can-pay-to-skip-the-lines-heres-how/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/genie/ Guests that have been to Disney California Adventure this past week on rainy days may have been able to ride Web Slingers by waiting in a standby queue, instead of getting a boarding pass. Disneyland is switching to a standby queue on days when the attendance are lower for the new attraction. Guests who get a boarding group at the 7am window will have their boarding group honored, but there may not be a need for the noon boarding groups, and switch to standby only. The standby queue usually becomes active around 4-6pm. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/12/disneyland-pauses-web-slingers-virtual-queue-on-slow-days-and-switches-to-standby-line/ One of the big questions guests have been asking a lot recently is what is going on with the trams? The Orange County Register thinks that it is still related to the COVID-19 health and safety regulations that have been in place since the parks reopened. There were some posts online this week that said the trams were needing repairs after not being run for nearly a year and a half and maintenance teams are already overloaded. So, the real answer to when the trams come back is anyone’s guess. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/11/when-will-disneyland-parking-lot-trams-return/ Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company has finally made it to the west coast from Florida. The coffee stand that sits at the entrance to Pixar Pier and Paradise Wharf was recently converted to a Joffrey’s, along with adding mobile ordering and some food offerings. Breakfast offerings are abailable until 11am, with a burrito available after. A chia fruit salad, sugar cookie, chocolate chip cookie, and chocolate croissants are offered all day. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/10/photos-joffreys-coffee-tea-company-makes-disneyland-resort-debut-at-the-gourmet-coffee-stand-at-disney-california-adventure/ Disney+ has been an excellent source of information and entertainment about the parks since it launched in 2019. A new movie, which will focus on the creation of Disneyland, will be debuting on the service in the future. The movie will be written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, who worked on The Jungle Book 2 and Beauty and the Beast. David Gordon Green is set to direct. He worked on Halloween and Halloween Kills as the writer and director. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/10/movie-focusing-on-disneylands-creation-coming-to-disney/ The Disneyland Resort has been hiring quite a few new cast members recently, although not a lot with more than two legs! The Circle D Ranch has recently received 5 new horses for Disneyland. The new horses are Dublin, a four-year-old Belgian and Percheron cross, Champ and his half brother Chip, who are 5 years-old and are Clydesdales. Lily is 5 years-old, with no breed mentioned. Finally, there is Pumpkin, who is one-and-a-half years old, and is a Percheron. The training to get horses from the ranch to Disneyland can take from 6 months to a year, depending on the horse. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/meet-the-new-disneyland-horses-at-circle-d-ranch/ After three long years, the current Disneyland Ambassadors Justin and Rafa, who would normally have held the position for two years, but because of COVID, their term was extended to three years, will retire to other positions in the parks. The new 2022-223 Ambassadors were announced last week, making their titles official. Mark is currently a stage manager in Disney California Adventure, starting with the company back in 2013. Nataly is a guest relations VIP hostess, starting with the company back in 2010. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/meet-the-next-disneyland-resort-ambassador-team/ Weeklyteers who are like Tage and love building models of Disneyland, there is a new 3D model book coming out soon! “Build Your Own Disneyland Park: Press Out 3D Model is now available for preorder on Amazon for $14.99. The book has 35 press out pieces and instructions to build a 3D model of Disneyland. There is also some information about each of the lands in the book. The book will be out on December 7, 2021. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/10/shop-new-build-your-own-disneyland-park-3d-model-fact-book-available-for-pre-order-on-amazon/ For Weeklyteers who watched the Muppets Haunted Mansion Halloween special on Disney+ this week, the Disney Parks Blog has released some wallpapers, stickers, and more! Some of the wallpapers include Miss Piggy as Madame Pigota, Animal, and Muppet versions of famous locations from the Haunted Mansion. There are some GIPHY stickers when you search Disney Plus Life on Instagram, and more. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/celebrate-muppets-haunted-mansion-with-all-new-digital-wallpapers-stickers-and-more/ The Haunted Mansion exhibit at Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln has been updated to include some of the props that were used to film the Muppets Haunted Mansion special. Some of the items include a “2 DIE 4” license plate, the crystal ball from Madame Pigota, the maids spray bottle from that same scene, coffins, and more. Lights are being installed on the exterior of the attraction in preperation for it’s a small world holiday, which will premiere on November 12th. The first guests to be able to experience the attraction will be able to do so at the Disney Merriest Nites event on November 11th. The attraction will go down for the transformation of the interior on October 25th. – https://www.micechat.com/303988-disneyland-update-happy-hauntings-and-magic-keys-clogged/ Guests walking the tram route have likely seen the Muppers Haunted Mansion display near the Downtown Disney tram loading area. The display has a few iconic sights from the Haunted Mansion, with a Muppet skew to them, including the stretching room portraits, gargoyles, the busts that follow guests, and more. The Disney+ Muppet Haunted Mansion special drops this Friday. – https://www.micechat.com/303988-disneyland-update-happy-hauntings-and-magic-keys-clogged/ D23 Gold members will be able to purchase some exclusive Mickey’s of Glendale and The Muppets Studio curated items on shopDisney.com. The popular holiday overlay celebrated the 20th anniversary on October 3rd. To commemorate this milestone, a glow in the dark shirt and water bottle appeared at Disneyland. Both items have Oogie Boogie in a Santa-inspired outfit, the Haunted Mansion, Lock, Shock, and Barrel, and says “Haunted Mansion Holiday 20th Anniversary, Disneyland Resort.” – https://www.micechat.com/303736-disneylands-haunted-mansion-holiday-celebrates-its-20th-scary-christmas/ The Orange County Register found a permit that Disneyland filed with Orange County to install some scaffholding and seating in Town Square on Main Street. This points to the return of the Candlelight Processional at Disneyland this year! The annual event was cancelled last year at both US resorts due to COVID-19. Disney World has announced their candlelight will run from November 26th through December 30th. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/09/28/candlelight-processional-returning-to-disneyland-this-holiday-season-permits-show/ A new shoppe is coming to the end of Main Street, replacing the former Photo Supply Store. Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe will be a vistorian-era themed store which will change with the holidays throughout the year. Ornaments, housewares, linens, and accessories will be for sale. Holidays that will be celebrated will include Hanukkah, Lunar New Year, Sping and Easter, Fall and Halloween, and Christmas year round. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/plaza-point-an-all-new-holiday-store-coming-soon-to-main-street-usa-in-disneyland-park/ Since Disneyland reopened back in April, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage has been closed with a return time of “winter 2021.” Currently, the lagoon has been drained and is undergoing some refurbishment. We will have to wait and see if the attraction reopens before the end of the year. – https://www.micechat.com/303988-disneyland-update-happy-hauntings-and-magic-keys-clogged/ A couple of weeks ago, the World of Color lagoon was drained to work on the infrastructure for the nighttime spectacular. With the lagoon drained, some cast members have reported that the lagoon itself is also getting some work done. MiceChat reports that the show is not expected to return until sometime in 2022. – https://www.micechat.com/303988-disneyland-update-happy-hauntings-and-magic-keys-clogged/ Magic Key holders may have noticed the reservation calendar filling up faster recently. This is probably in part due to the popular holiday season we are in, in addition to Magic Keyholders grabbing a reservation in advance in case they want to go to the parks on a specific day, with the ability to cancel before midnight the day before with no penalty. Our recommendation is to check the calendar often, especially closer to midnight to snag a reservation. – https://www.micechat.com/303736-disneylands-haunted-mansion-holiday-celebrates-its-20th-scary-christmas/ The Amazon smart speakers are getting a little more Disney. With the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, Disney announced a project with Amazon to bring Disney stories, characters, and more to a new “Hey Disney!” feature. Guests can use Hey Disney! at home or in a Walt Disney World hotel room to interact with Disney characters, get park information, and more. Disney will share more about the service soon. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/hey-disney/ Discussion Topic: An Audio Tour of Disneyland from the vault.

News: Extended hours for the parks haven’t returned yet, but Magic Key Holders can experience something almost as good. From September 20th through October 7th, Magic Key Holders can ride Haunted Mansion Holiday after park closing for an additional hour Mondays through Thursdays! A valid park reservation and proof of Magic Key will be required to ride. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/09/16/the-exclusive-way-to-ride-haunted-mansion-holiday-in-disneyland/ Six Happy Haunts have taken leave from the Haunted Mansion Friday through Sunday evenings though Halloween! The SCAREolders, a six person a cappella group will entertain guests in Downtown Disney, with favorites like “I Put a Spell on You” and other tributes to Disney villains. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/downtown-disney-district-is-frightfully-delightful-during-halloween-time-at-disneyland-resort/ As we reported on previously, the PhotoPass services has moved from Main Street Photo Supply in Disneyland and Kingswell Camera Shop in Disney California Adventure to the exterior part of the Disneyland Newsstand. The new location is labeled as “Photo Concierge” and will be the single location for photo services. The old locations inside the parks will be repurposed for more merchandise. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ A once state of the art system is almost completely gone from the parks. The FastPass machines have been removed from most if not all locations where they were previously installed in order to prepare for the launch of Genie+ and Lightning Lane. The new services will be offered through the Disneyland App only, so the old machines are no longer necessary. Some of the locations have been repurposed as shaded vending locations, while others are left empty for the time being. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ The annual Gay Days Anaheim event took place over the weekend and drew quite a few LGBTQ++ guests and allies. Disney offered some rainbow food and merchandise options around the parks to celebrate. There was a Mickey Rainbow Cookie, Rainbow Cotton Candy, Rainbow Cake, and a Rainbow Parade Tumbler. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ Guests sightseeing in Town Square at the beginning of Main Street might notice something new. The gates to the crowd overflow corridor near the Mad Hatter have been repainted to say “Welcome Friends” with “Disneyland Main Street, USA” and “Town Square Established 1955” above and below. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ Some unannounced changes started to take place in a popular attraction in Toon Town last week. Jessica Rabbit will be taking over a different role in the attraction as the story is updated to better reflect today’s mentality. Jessica will now be a Private Eye keeping an eye on the Weasels who are on a crime spree in Toon Town. Her busty character will be more modest with a trenchcoat covering her up, and her character has already been removed from the trunk of a car in the attraction. Imagineers are working on the updates outside of park hours to not close the attraction. No word on when the updates will be complete. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ A more subdued color scheme has come to part of New Orleans Square. The former Le Bat en Rouge shop has transformed from the deep rouge color to a new green and gold that is reminiscent of Princess and the Frog. There is still no official word on what will go into this location, but MiceChat guesses that it will be a Princess and the Frog themed shop of some sort. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ On Friday, October 1st, Walt Disney World will celebrate its 50th anniversary. To go along with the celebration, ABC will be presenting “The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World.” Disney Legend Whoopi Goldberg will host the show, which will feature performances from Christina Aguilera and Halle Bailey from Cinderella Castle. The special will look at the past, present, and future of the resort with never before seen footage. The special will air at 10pm eastern, and will be on Hulu the next day, with Disney+ coming later. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/teaser-released-for-the-most-magical-story-on-earth-50-years-of-walt-disney-world-special-coming-to-abc/ With the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World coming up in less than 2 weeks, the president of Walt Disney World, along with the Global Ambassador for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” dedicated the Disney Fab 50 golden sculptures of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse to cast members past, present, and future. The Fab 50 are 50 sculptures that were created of Disney characters to be placed all around Disney World for the 50th celebration. A plaque was also placed near the Mickey and Minnie sculptures commemorating the event. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/honoring-the-heart-of-our-magic-cast-members-of-past-present-and-future/ As we reported on last week, the infrastructure in the water to support Fantasmic! at Disneyland was being worked on, which is great news! This week, the platforms in World of Color lagoon have been raised and are being worked on. The projection housings we reported on being dismantled months ago still haven’t returned. Hopefully this is a good sign that World of Color might make a return before the end of the year. Unfortunately, there is no official word on when either Fantasmic! or World of Color might be returning. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/photos-world-of-color-fountains-uncovered-for-refurbishment-at-disney-california-adventure/ A new Oogie Boogie popcorn bucket is now available for purchase in Disney California Adventure. For $11, guests can pick up this bucket, decorated with Oogie Boogie surrounded by the Headless Horsemen, Jack-o’-lanterns, and other Halloween icons. Some DCA attractions are also in the background of the bucket. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/photos-new-oogie-boogie-popcorn-bucket-available-at-disney-california-adventure/ Disneyland was able to fulfil the final wish of a longtime annual passholder and Star Wars fan who was killed in the line of service in Afghanistan last month. Marine Corporal Hunter Lopez told his parents before he deployed that if anything happened, he wanted to be buried with the lightsaber he built in Disneyland in 2019. The family couldn’t bear to part with the saber that he built, so they went to Disneyland to build a replica. Friends who work for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and are members of Club 33 arranged to have a private Savi’s Workshop session to create the saber. While dining in Club 33, the family was presented with an American flag that flew over Disneyland and framed in a plaque in honor and memory of Hunter, presented by Disneyland Security Vice President Dan Hughes. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/09/20/disneyland-pays-tribute-to-fallen-u-s-marine-killed-in-afghanistan-airport-attack/ Discussion Topic: Tage and Teresa talk about Oogie Boogie Bash and their upcoming trip. Tickets start at $165 per person and give access to 6 parties put on by Minnie Mouse, snow moments on Main Street, an appearance from Santa Claus, admission to Disneyland starting at 5pm, A Christmas Fantasy Parade, attractions excluding Toontown, Critter Country and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, photo ops, characters, treats, and of course merchandise. Agatha Harkness from WandaVision has set up in the Ancient Sanctum in Avenger’s Campus. Sid from Toy Story has set up a sideshow circus, called “The Sid Show Circus” on Pixar Pier in the stage area formerly used by the Pixar Philharmonic. Rounding out the new villains is Cruella DeVille, who is putting on a fashion show in the Hollywood Backlot. – https://www.micechat.com/301430-new-characters-bewitch-the-oogie-boogie-cast-preview/ A fun detail has returned to Cars Land. The ofrenda for Doc Hudson is back this year near Ramone’s House of Body Art. The setup looks very much like the memorial setup that was in Cars 2. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/09/12/whats-new-at-disneyland-resort-a-huge-edible-halloween-display-a-new-avengers-campus-character-and-spooky-treats/ The edible Oogie Boogie sculpture in the Grand Californian has returned to the lobby this year. Near the display is a coffee cart that has been setup to offer drinks and some treats (and to encourage guests not to eat the display!). – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ Once again, the Haunted Mansion Holiday has received its centerpiece of the Gingerbread House in the ballroom scene. We have talked about the hundreds of pounds of ingredients, hours and hours of work to bring it to life and more. This week, we got a look at how the gingerbread house is moved into the Mansion and assembled for guests to see. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/celebrate-20-seasons-of-spook-tacular-fun-with-the-haunted-mansion-holiday-gingerbread-house-at-disneyland-park/ As with every good Disney event, there is new merchandise for Oogie Boogie Bash! A set of pins for this years event featuring different villains, as well as a tumbler donning the Oogie Boogie Bash 2021 logo. – https://www.micechat.com/237070-oogie-boogie-bash-halloween-party-disneyland-resort/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/photos-new-vampire-tow-mater-straw-clip-cruises-into-disney-california-adventure-for-halloween/ This Thursday, September 16th, the Carnation Cafe will finally reopen to guests! When it reopens, it will serve breakfast and lunch from 8am to 2pm daily. For those of you who have not dined at this location, it is a great place to take in Main Street and people watch while you get some good food. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ New Orleans Square has almost completely returned to normal after the scrims in the area have finally come down. The area looks great now, with just one scrim still up in front of Le Bat en Rouge. Hopefully this will also result in the Royal Street Veranda reopening soon. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ Now that the Magic Key Program has been in effect for a couple of weeks, how has this impacted the crowd levels of the parks? Weekdays are delightful, with low waits for attraction and comfortable crowds walking around. In the evenings, more locals are coming in after work to catch the Halloween Screams show. On weekends, they have been busier, but not back to the levels of pre-covid. Overall, it is a great time to visit the parks, especially when compared to what it was like before the shutdown. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/photos-new-magic-key-popcorn-bucket-available-at-disneyland-resort/ A change has come to the virtual queue system for Rise of the Resistance and Web Slingers. Guests can login to the Disneyland app and confirm their boarding party up to one hour before the virtual queue opens. This cuts down on the time to secure a place in the queue right at opening. This is a welcome change to the system. Hopefully, Web Slingers and Rise will phase out the virtual queue system sooner than later. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ Some great news for those looking forward to igniting the night again soon. The fountains and infrastructure around Tom Sawyer Island that supports Fantasmic! has been under refurbishment! The area around the water jets have been drained and work is being performed. Hopefully this means that a return of the popular nighttime show is not far off! – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ Guests arriving to the Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures are sometimes surprised that the parking lot trams are still not back, requiring a long walk to the front gates. Some are opting to park over in the Toy Story parking lot, which has busses that will drop guests off closer to the gates. The busses that are in use are small, and do not currently have air conditioning. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ This week, the Tenaya Stone Spa in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa officially opens! The Disney Parks Blog posted all the details of the story and design elements of the new spa. The inspiration for the spa comes from the spirit of nature, indigenous cultures of California, and the Craftsman design of the hotel itself. One of the unique details is the tree root chandelier, which looks like the roots of a tree are growing through the ceiling. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/interior-design-elements-tell-the-story-of-new-tenaya-stone-spa-at-disneyland-resort/ Discussion Topic: Emmie – Infants and Toddlers in the Parks Toddler Friendly Attractions Map – https://cdn1.parksmedia.wdprapps.disney.com/dam/disneyland/preschool/disney-family-toddler-friendly-attractions.pdf Feedback: Hi Tage & Teresa! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the recent episode on food allergies in the parks. As a mother of a child with severe tree nut & peanut allergies it is a subject near and dear to my heart. While food labeling and safety measures in places like schools are improving greatly from when I was a kid, I always appreciate raising awareness in the general population. I, like all of your listeners, love the Disney parks and love them even more for the care they take in providing safe and magical experiences for all of their guests- allergic guests and all. Towards the end of the episode you and asked Ellie about general resources for people to use in regards to food allergies. I think this is so important because whether you or a loved one suffers form good allergies or not, if your child goes to school you will probably have to send allergy safe snacks/treats at some point. I’ve relied on: https://snacksafely.com/ They have a snack safe guide that breaks down popular brands and products you find in any grocery store and marks whether they are safe for all of the 8 different food allergies. They also include information on allergen labeling and whether products were made in a facility with major allergens or not if cross contamination is a concern. You can download the snack guide, and they update the information periodically as manufacturing processes change over time, and it takes them to contact the manufacturers and research their cleaning/labeling practices. Thanks again for your thoughtful discussion topics that help us realize all the amazing resources we can take advantage of in the Disney parks! Whitney Nolden

Disneyland does an amazing job and I always find great food. Just wanted to throw out another tip if people ask, the special diets phone number currently doesn’t work but you can email firstname.lastname@example.org and they answered my questions and I was actually able to pre order gluten free Monte Cristo sandwiches 2 weeks before our reservation at Blue Bayou. And when we got there our waitress already knew our order it was wonderful! ❤️ Monica
