Tiki Culture and Disney share a large crossover of fans nowadays with the popularity of Trader Sam's on both coasts combining tempting rum concoctions with the gentle sway of palm trees and so this week we are very pleased to welcome co-director and editor, Alex Lamb, to the show to discuss his upcoming documentary, The Donn of Tiki. It centers on the man known as The Godfather of Tiki, Donn Beach who is half fable and half legend according to many who knew him. Alex along with co-director and cinematographer have taken to task telling the actual story of Donn or at least as much as they can uncover amidst all the colorful fiction. 11 years ago it was announced the Guillermo del Toro would helm an adaptation of Disney's Haunted Mansion for the big screen. In the time since little to nothing has ever been said and both parties have seemingly went their own ways but is there any connective tissue in the future work of del Toro to the Haunted Mansion? To begin answering that we also have to go back even further to when the Haunted Mansion first came to be and dig into its own influences. How does a movie from 1963 weigh in on the iconic theme park attraction? What is in store for the home of 999 friendly haunts?
