Exact Buyer
In this episode, I talk to Edan Krolewicz, founder of ExactBuyer. ExactBuyer helps you find the exact people you should be talking to and gives the information you need to reach out to those people in a reliable way. Edan shares how he functions best, his company’s vision, and how they are different from the other tools that are already out there. He shares the importance of diving deeper into different industries and getting into where exactly you should be.   In this episode, we discussed: What ExactBuyer does to successfully help businesses. What excites Edan about macro-level problems. The difficulties of getting good at different prospecting tools. How they figure out the filters they use and the importance of going deeper into the differences and needs of customers. The importance of branding and building trust. Helping the people understand the business at large. As Edan shares his goal to stand out in a marketplace that has a lot of bad players, we discuss the following things to help him achieve that goal: It all comes down to branding and being someone that people can trust. When you’re a young company, your brand is the relationships that you’ve made in your career so far. As you get older and as your company matures, then it’s not just your brand but it’s your brand and the people that work in your company.  Doing market maps to find the right answers for your market analysis. Building and growing a community helps drive the direction of the company. It’s one thing to know what to do, but timing is as important. As you hire an STR, bring in someone very good at what they do and can work independently.  2. Establish a digital footprint. a.) Try to see if you can leverage some alternative ad platforms. b.) When you start getting customers, collect reviews from them on public platforms. c.) Put yourself out there. (e.g. going to or starting podcasts) WHAT IS DIGITAL MARKETING FOR HUMANS? Ardent Growth
In this episode, Skyler Reeves, the CEO of Ardent Growth, talks me through his business and how he found his niche. As a child, Skyler was into arts until he discovered his affinity for Math and Computer Science. He also served in the military, observing different cultures among people. His company, Ardent Growth, helps e-commerce brands understand which content they need to make and in what order to get results as fast as possible. In this episode, we discussed: The reason why order matters when putting out contents. How to reduce the time it takes for content to rank. The overlap between trying to solve a problem and producing something with it. The importance of having content strategies and answering your customers’ questions through content. Mastering one thing first, then expanding your service offering. The importance of keeping your ROI compounding to keep the business going. Mapping your strategy by thinking about how your customers like to consume information and how they like to buy. How content can almost speak for itself. At present, Skyler's company is trying to figure out how to re-establish themselves and build that top-of-the-funnel awareness. He discussed the things that he had tried doing, and we also came up with the following: If you’re trying to increase inbound, it’s just around elevating your brand. It may be through podcasts, attending and speaking in conferences, and networking. Speaking at a conference enables you to validate people's assumptions that you know what you are talking about. Identify ideal influencers to partner with. Think about the metrics that matter to you, as far as ROI, and how to measure that. You have to ask your customers to know which channel or mechanism was the most impactful. It's not always a one-size-fits-all. Each person takes a different approach. Think of the solutions that will work and what you can do based on the timing and resources you have. Working with influencers, give the context, and let them come up with the content because they know their audience well. Create a referral program and find some incentive to provide them. Storify Agency
In this episode, I talk with Seth Erickson, the CEO of Storify Agency. He helps companies tell better stories about what they are doing, why they exist, and why they have value to other people. Seth also talks about his book, How to Hack Humans: Storytelling for Startups. We discuss his future goals and some ideas to help him achieve them. In this episode, we discussed:  How he realized that authenticity saves a lot of energy trying to be someone else.  The goal of Storify of helping startups communicate their value to investors and the marketplace at large.  How customers would need to know why they should care about what you offer and how it would solve their problems.  Presenting your brands the right way through education.  How important it is for the customers to be the center of the stories you tell about your brand.  Brain simulations created by the stories being told to customers. People usually associate Seth’s storytelling skills with extroverted people. On the contrary, Seth is in fact, an introvert. Although human interaction may be dreadful for introverts like him, it is his goal to reach out and help more people through what he does. We came up with the following to help him get to his goals:  Find what feels comfortable and build up from there.  Create posts on a business page first instead of a personal page.  Reach out to friends for referrals.  Listen, choose, and pick feedback that would further improve the business.  Continue sharing on podcast interviews until comfortable enough to talk on a stage in front of an actual audience. Story Dialogue
In this episode, I interviewed Carmel Finnan of Story Dialogue. She shares about her long journey of finding out what she wanted to do, the longer journey of discovering how she can do it, and the fulfillment of finally doing it. Carmel talks about the real deal about dialogue and how, when properly executed, it will maximize the effectiveness to deliver its purpose. We discussed her concern of standing out against the increasing noise in the marketplace, especially in social media, and we’ve come up with some really great ways to address it. Listen up and learn! In this episode, we talked about: Carmel’s journey from working in the academe in Ireland to leaving it, becoming self-employed, and establishing her own business. How she waited for so long, not doing anything because she didn’t know what to do. How what happened to her friend scared her and became the turning point in her life. Meeting a businessman in her course that led her to find the need for storytelling in business and found her place in it. The power of dialogue and how, when executed properly, will give the utmost result needed in any area it is used. Carmel raised her concern about the increasing noise in social media and how her message can be heard above it. We arrived with the following ways to do this: Build a community. Get insights from each other. Make the community run by itself, with you observing on the sideline and participating as another part of the community. Choose the right tools. Implement a game plan. Flourish & Grit
In this episode, I chat with Emily McGuire of Flourish and Grit. We talk about her journey in her business, including how she thought of the name and how it represents the business's principles. Emily teaches us how working hand in hand with these principles affects their clients’ businesses. Emily walks us through the email marketing experience as perceived on the other side of the fence, the customers, and how Flourish and Grit work backward to maximize the value of email marketing for their client's business. We discussed their common struggle, which is identifying their niche and how to work with that. Listen up and enjoy! In this episode, we discussed: Emily’s struggle to be taken seriously because of her uncanny ways of doing business and how she eventually won over that prejudice and found her footing in the business. Emily’s joy as she gets to work with her best friend, who is talented, and how their partnership helps them grow together and grow the business with it. What inspired the name Flourish and Grit and how it represents both their principles of doing the business and the experience of partnering up with them. How they work with email marketing holistically to capture high touchpoints that people send to your business to signal they are interested. Strategies to keep people engaged and how to lead them seamlessly to the purchase process. Emily shares her struggle of finding the ideal customer to market to and how to tailor their marketing according to that niche. We discussed the following strategies that could help her in this particular area: Define the value of your services. Determine how much you want to get paid according to the value you give. Create a persona of the ideal customer based on that pricing. Define your image based on the persona of those that can afford you. Think of a company that you want to work with. Find a way to quantify why you want to work with that company and start checking other similar companies according to the metrics you deduced from that analysis. The CEO Confidant
In this episode, I interviewed Angel Ribo, the CEO of The CEO Confidant. This man literally has traveled the world in his entire life, helping people start and grow their businesses. As if that’s not amazing enough, he is also fluent in a couple of languages. Angel shares his journey of helping hundreds of CEOs internationally and what he learned from those experiences. He talks about supporting more than a thousand underprivileged kids in Latin America to become entrepreneurs using local resources through his organization called Wisdom for Kids. In this episode, we discussed: How he chose his brand when he left corporate America 5 years ago. How every CEO and business is different. The system of expansion and exposure that they use in growing different businesses. His experience of not invoicing his past clients. The elements he uses in branding answering the questions who do you want to serve and what you do for them. Angel shares his goal of 1 million daily reach for his content, and we brainstorm on some ways to achieve it coming up with the following things to help him achieve that goal: Instead of being on and off with the video content, keep it on. Make reusable content. Make five bullet points, and each bullet point can be a potential video. Use caption for accessibility and make it user-friendly for everyone. Alternate caption and video post Have a newsletter creating a funnel of people they can reach directly. Jube
In this episode, I had a chat with a very good friend of mine, Karan Nijhawan. He is the Founder of Jube. Karan shares how a disappointing experience at a networking event gave birth to the idea of his business. He talks about the importance of the environment to the growth of each individual. We had a productive brainstorm about some marketing ideas on how to achieve his goals for his business. In this episode, we discussed: The founding principle of Jube (Just Be) is that you are the average of the five people you surround yourself with. How a bad experience at a networking event sparked the idea that eventually became Jube. The mistake of underestimating the effect of the environment on a person. Letting people handle things that you don’t want to do but are in their zone of genius. The principle of who, not how. As Karan shares the pivot that he is currently applying to his business, shifting from high ticket clients to serving more people at a more affordable price, we discuss the following things to help him achieve that goal: Profit-sharing in exchange for more hands-on mentoring. Create an environment such that the community has the "network effect." Strengthen the community by giving roles to some of the members of the community. Set of procedures where the community runs itself, and everyone is getting a platform to speak. Set the vision and let it run, then check the gaps and find ways to improve. Postaga
In this episode, I had a chat with  Andrew Cabasso. He is the Founder of Postaga, a software tool that helps marketers connect and build a relationship with their audience through email outreach. We talk about how business people can save resources in the long run by spending time validating their idea first with the target market. He also shares the benefits of having a co-founder rather than doing everything yourself. Listen up, and you will find a lot of value in this episode. In this episode, we discussed: How he taught himself to code and was able to code an app that helps find available time slots for delivery of groceries. That great idea cannot be a business if no one is willing to pay for it. Spending a lot of time validating the idea so you don’t waste your time developing a product that eventually will not sell. His decision to have a co-founder who has skills that complement his and how it reduced the burden of being a start-up where you have to do a lot of things. The importance of open communication when you work with someone. As Andrew shares the things that he would want more time for, we discuss the following things to help him in that area: Trusting and empowering your people as you delegate tasks to them. Being a mentor through a feedback loop in the process of task approval. Hiring the right people. Building a diverse team not just in race but primarily in experience. Experiment and keep going until you find what works for you. Keep in mind that what works today may not work tomorrow. How they came up with the business idea and how it transitioned to what it is now. The improvements they are implementing like the app for members to make it easier for them to access the vehicles they need. Being dedicated enough to your vision. As Ezra shares with us their plans and concerns in their business, like parking constraints and availability, we brainstormed and came up with some interesting ideas and solutions: Survey the users. They are the ones who know about their neighborhood, and therefore, their input can contribute a lot to solving concerns in the parking space. Partnering up with apartment complexes for parking spaces. Looking into churches as options for parking because they mostly are just full on Sundays. Increasing availability through a more streamlined and efficient service experience. Looking into better data and better technology to maximize parking capacity of certain areas.
