Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach is one of my favorite places on Earth. A 60-foot-high mountain made from an old trash dump is a treasure to me. That big, beautiful mountain, surrounded by lakes, playgrounds, skate parks and a winding walking trail, is a source of joy for people far and wide. All at a place built on a pile of trash… Items that were discarded, devalued, and done away with, were used as the foundation for a place that now inspires magical moments. And that’s just it... Mount Trashmore reminds me that we can take the piles of pain, regret and sorrow in your past… The ugly stuff we’d rather throw away… and use it all as the foundation for something beautiful…inspiring… magical. Our trash can become treasure when we change our perspective.

Our failures are just lessons in disguise if we allow them to guide and teach us.
