Episode 2 feat. Karen Dawes, Training Manager of the BPCA

Welcome to Dealey Pest Academy Podcast! For this episode, we talk to Karen Dawes, Training Manager of the BPCA.

In this episode, we talk about:

- "BPCA-registered" as a badge that acknowledges and recognizes the qualification of member employees (with categories for trainees, affiliates, technicians, etc.)

- Being a member benefit, the BPCA-registered badge is used to recognize any form of training or learning, whether it be hands-on or by the book, with the aim to represent one's competence and portfolio in the pest control field

- How the BPCA is finding a way to get the message accross in terms of introducing pest control as a sustainable career, despite the low number of interested people. The profession being very hands-on and will least likely to be replaced by robots in the future.

- The pest control career may be seen as an "old man's industry" but there's a lot more to it than that, in terms of knowledge to be gained, technicality and passion.

Karen also talks about how being part of the BPCA has opened her eyes to see pest control as a profession where you'll not just learn how to kill pests like it's the easiest thing to do, but it is a profession and an industry full of technicalities and complexities. She's also quite optimistic in terms of introducing a pest control career path to today's generation, with the help of BPCA's programs, training and opportunities.
