Ante came with his dad and the team to do some roof work at the studio. While waiting for the rain to stop, he chatted with Susie about HSC, work, football, growing up as a second generation Croatian and his chilled philosophy in life. He reckons his parents have done everything right bringing him up. "Just don't stress", he said, "If you stress, everything is harder"..... Here is Ante’s story.

Alex (Part 2) Life after high school In this episode, Alex delves deeper into how she taught herself to code. How did she get started? What did a typical day of self-study involve? How did she land her first role in the tech industry? She also reveals the key insights that she would share with high school students today. Additionally, Alex discusses her life outside of work, particularly her love of volunteering at Lentil As Anything, a not-for-profit social enterprise and pay-as-you-feel restaurant.

Alex (part 1-Life after high school) After completing the HSC, Alex took a gap year, during which she engaged in various bouts of work experience and travelled to Turkey to explore the country that her mother migrated from.  Alex was offered a place to study a Bachelor of Law, but she transferred to Psychology, and later, to Economics. She discusses this journey and how she grew to be dissatisfied with the quality of university education (which prompted her to seek alternative forms of education). A well-spoken girl who is determined to learn what she wants, despite societal expectations.

Isabella is a matured and frustrated 11 years old who seems to have opinions with everyone and everything. She talks about the strict rules of her private girls' school and what she has to do to wake herself up at Chapel service. She eagerly advises all parents to congratulate kids on the things they have achieved because they are trying their best. Here is Isabella’s story.

Hope you all had a happy school holiday! The podcast is back. At age 9, Macayla is my youngest podcast guest. While most of the 9-year-old kids will scream at the sight of a spider or cockroach, Macayla adores them and keeps them as "pets".   She speaks calmly and fluently about her experience as a junior ranger cadet and her love for insects and nature. 

15-year-old Julia talks about her parents’ decision choosing between public and private system and how much she enjoys her all-girls school. “Social media is not that bad,” she said. “Snapchat is my main source of communication. It’s really not as bad as people think”. An extrovert only child, Julia gives a lot of insights and tips to her fabulous social life.  

"I am a bit of a Geek," said 12-year-old Lachlan, almost lying flat in a very relaxed way in the studio talking about his view on life.  Lachlan has abundant enthusiasm for tennis, public speaking,  astrology, Fornite video game and the sad youtube clips that made him cry.  He adores the GRASS in his new school cause grass is a very COMPLEX thing. "year 7 is overdramatized by people", he said. Here is Lachlan's story.

Poppy is a very funny 14-year-old girl who jokes about how bogan she sounds and her random school teachers (#notmentioningthenames).  She also talks openly about dealing with learning difficulties and how the Arrowsmith program in Canada prepares her to fit into the mainstream school.  If you love the TV show "J'aime, the private school girl" you will love listening to how Poppy talks.  Here is the amazing, one and only Poppy. 

"Oh the boys are so annoying!!" said Allyson. Allyson is a frequent winner for Awards in piano and cello competitions in Sydney. She talks about her practice routine and discipline for instrumental learning, family and how much she loves her new school without any ANNOYING BOYS AROUND. A very cute conversation from an articulated, well-spoken 11-year-old. Here is Allyson’s story.

Sierra is a pretty, polite and sweet 13-year-old girl whom you will never guess she has a black belt in Taekwondo. We recorded this podcast in the kitchen of our Martial art studio after our training. Despite the noisy background and lots of distractions, she spoke confidently about her Taekwondo journey that I am sure it will be very inspiring to many. 

The most fun, random chat with my very chilled 11-year-old girl Ava.  Ava talks about her daily life with lots of sports commitment, debating team and what she thinks about school and what teachers should be.  It's a happy conversation with a cute 11-year-old who can just talk and talk. 

Sharon is the only student I taught from total piano beginner from age 6 and went all the way. Now an Architecture student at the University, Sharon now sounds like a closed good friend of mine.  A hectic, fast pace conversation that is full of laughter, random thoughts and good rapport between a student and teacher who obviously has been hanging around together for far too long. So awesome to see kids flying high and wide. 

Monica is a well spoken 12-year old who talks about her school captain experience excitedly and her love and passion for basketball! Going to all girls high school is a new beginning for her and we wish you all the best Moni.

This episode was recorded on a freezing winter day in Taipei city. 11-year-old Emma has never had her education in a western country. Nevertheless she speaks fluently about her busy bilingual school in Taipei, her love for reading and debating, what she thinks about Australia and the interesting birthday present she designed for her parents to do. Lucie Mae gets up at 4:30 am and nap throughout the day. She talks passionately about rowing and what's like to be the youngest of 5 siblings with 13 years of the age gap. We speak so fast that you need to concentrate when you listen otherwise the next topics comes in randomly. Oh, and the "piss off" teen party in Mosman. I am sure you want to know what that is.
