DD 015: 7 Strategies for Quickly Increasing Sales Conversions (Mktg Funnel Series 3 of 7)
Continuing with the Marketing Funnel Series, in this episode I share a few different funnel sales conversion optimization strategies you can deploy right away so you can see an immediate boost in your sales, revenue, and profits. One of the best ways to create consistent, predictable growth in a business is to dial in a marketing and sales funnel that allows you to buy customers profitably on the front end. If you can do this, then you no longer have to be as concerned with how low you can get your cost of acquisition down. Sure, it's nice to keep it as low as possible. Makes your economics all the more favorable. But... Unlike all your competitors, who are most likely focused on the same thing - buying new customers for as cheap as possible - you'll be the competitor who can afford to spend the most to buy a new customer. That's not just a small linguistic nuance. Let that sink in for a minute. If you and 3 other businesses are competing for the same customer, and the other three guys can only afford to spend $30 to acquire a new customer while you can, if you needed to in order to win, spend up to $120 to acquire the same customer ....who wins? You do! Spending least on cost of acquisition doesn't grow a business. Getting more customers grows a business. I'm not, again, saying that cost of acquisition doesn't matter. It most certainly does. But it should be used a benchmark for optimization. The overall goal should be as many new customers as possible. And one of the most effective points of leverage for creating this is a high converting marketing or sales funnel. After auditing and working on more marketing funnels than I can remember, here is one of common denominators that under-performing funnels have in common... ... they make it really hard for buyers to give the business money. I scratch my head... My perspective is that the singular purpose of a marketing and sales funnel is to get as much cash as possible from as many buyers as possible. And I cannot figure out why so many marketing funnels seem to almost intentionally make it hard for the buyer to give their cash to the business. Getting more new customers is not the only single way to grow your business. A business can be grown geometrically ...more customers, larger average transaction, raising your prices, bundling offerings, engineering psychologically driven sales funnels, and so forth. ...and yet it would seem that most entrepreneurs, marketers, and business owners have a pig-headed determination to take the hardest approach possible to growing their business. Some sort of glorified honor in doing things the hard way. A right of passage that makes you feel you really 'earned' it? That never quite appealed to me.
