I wish we could have went on for another hour with Miyo but she had some people she needed to strangle on the mats. We had a great time and it's a great episode to get your heads thinking if you are doing everything you can to prepare yourself incase of an attacker. Miyo is not only a bad ass on the mats but she is a becoming one of Utah's advocate for women self defense and women's jiujitsu by not just self defense but I think just her sharing her own experiences to others helps a lot too! After a week off, Ryan and I sat down and discussed serious topics that ranged from flat earth and aliens to Sponge Bob and Pokemon. I think we went over important things but it was just a regular conversation we normally have of pretty stupid stuff.

We sat down and listened to some incredible stories in this episode. Kristin shared her story of her journey fighting breast cancer and the challenges she faced from her diagnosis, her chemo sessions, and surgeries to being in remission. Kristin shared about her deployment to Baghdad, Iraq while serving in the Army and her convoy being hit with an IED attack and how she coped with her transition after her deployment. Kristin is a Brazilian Jiujitsu Brown Belt under Professor Paul Silva from Carlson Gracie San Diego, CA she is also an Army Combat Veteran and a breast cancer survivor and currently trains at Carlson Gracie Gilbert, AZ. 

We had the opportunity to sit down with not just one of the best competitors in the brown belt division but one of the funnest guys around. Ryan and I had such a great time listening to him share his story of how his childhood helped shape him be the great man he is becoming.  Jake is one of the most exciting competitors and you can watch him November 9th as the Co Main Event on Fight to Win #93 in Scottsdale, AZ and you can watch it on Flo Grappling.  Jake is a brown belt under professor Andre Maracaba of Maracaba Jiujitsu.

After a 5 week hiatus we are back! Ryan and I go over what's been happening and sit down with our great friend, Dustin Sims as he diets down for the upcoming Jiujitsu World League Tournament. We also talk about what's been holding the podcast back.

We're coming back at ya! Updates on why we were missing last week and updates on shakes and moves.We go into what happened at the NABJJF Phoenix Open and if the IBJJF is getting too money hungry with their announcements this week. Also, Ryan and I discuss and reflect on the anniversary of 9/11 terrorist attacks.

This episode is from last Thursday 8/23 when we sat down with Peter Iacavazzi at the IBJJF Worlds Master Championship. We were able to meet up with him the evening before he competed and have an awesome conversation.  Peter is a Brazilian Jiujitsu Blackbelt for team Atos at HQ in San Diego, CA with professor Andre Galvao. Peter is a 5x Pan American champion and 2016 World No Gi champion to name a few of his accomplishments.
