In today’s Cyber Security Matters episode, Dominic Vogel and Christian Redshaw are joined by Kevin Lonergan, Senior Strategy Manager at TELUS Cyber Security. Kevin pulls no punches in talking with Christian and Dominic about Ransomware as he breaks down the TELUS Canadian Ransomware Study which looks at over 450 Canadian organizations. The study highlights some surprising realities and insights about ransomware and the impact that it’s having on these organizations.  The study covers topics such as the evolving tactics threat actors are using, the technologies that organizations are finding most successful for detecting ransomware attempts, whether or not Canadian organizations are paying ransoms or not, and the results they’ve encountered when it comes to restoring their data.  It also looks at the impacts of attempting to negotiate ransom payments down, whether or not cyber insurance has been the safety net organizations have hoped it would be, and the total costs that ransomware attacks have had on these organizations – the real cost being their organization’s future.
