There can be multiple explanations for that, but mainly because only 3/6 states in the region have ever really shown any promising talent in the genre. Recently, we have had the opportunity to learn about an artist out of CT who has been making his rounds in the Hip-Hop circuits and has an undeniable sound and story to tell. As our last guest of 2022, it's only right that we bring on an artist who's been a major voice and influence within our city and scene for a long time now. When we think about the major R&B players from Boston we often refer to Bobby Brown, Mike Bivins and the rest of New Edition, but there are others who have played a hand in the story of others; even the guys just mention previously. So this week we welcome Cyrus Deshield, the singer/songwriter originally from Liberia who came to the South End section of Boston and became the Grammy nominated creative he is today! Some may remember Cyrus from being a part of the R&B group "617" which rebranded to "Metro City" while under the wing of the for NE Patriot Willie McGinest's record label and Interscope Records. It's been quite a while since we've sat across from a guest who lives so heavily in the social media comedy space; 84 episodes ago to be exact. For most music enthusiasts, the best way for them to feel connected to their favorite artists is through live performances. It’s always refreshing to talk to an artist who has multiple layers of creativity up their sleeves.
