Richwoods High School grad Andre Allen of the Central Illinois Sneaker Fest shares some details about the event this weekend in the Peoria Civic Center Ballroom. Dozens of collectors and vendors will have hundreds of sneakers to sell and trade from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday in conjunction with the IHSA March Madness Class 3A/4A state basketball tournament. 

Jason Terry, an assistant professor of music at Bradley University, chats with the Journal Star's Thomas Bruch about his experiences teaching music, and in particular, a stint teaching in war-torn Iraq. Terry, who specializes in teaching piano and music history, shares some of his philosophy on music education and the rising force of technology in music, as well as his musical likes and dislikes.

Actor Andrew Jon Rhodenbaugh joins Journal Star entertainment editor Thomas Bruch to chat about his role in the Peoria Cabaret Theatre production of "The Ultimate Christmas Show (Abridged)" now showing through Dec. 16 at The Waterhouse in Peoria's Warehouse District. The irreverent holiday comedy's three-man cast includes Rhodenbaugh, a native Peorian now living in St. Louis, Peorians Mike Reams and Jimmy Lahood.  

From the annual Red, White and Boom fireworks show to the infamous Nelly concert, the Peoria riverfront is the scene of some of the city's biggest events. Nick Conrad of the Peoria Park District is one of the key organizers of these events. He chats with Journal Star entertainment writer Thomas Bruch about this summer's unprecedented slate of big-name concerts on the riverfront.

"Hotdoggers" Sammi Sandwich Manning and Honey Mustard Haley Rohe, chat with the Journal Star's Thomas Bruch about their yearlong assignment driving the unique vehicle across the nation and spreading the word about Oscar Mayer's new all-natural, nitrate and nitrite-free frankfurters.

Food Truck Frenzy will descend upon Heritage Square in Peoria Heights on Saturday. Hick'ry Catering Company, a mobile food business specializing in smoked meats, will be one of the vendors this year. Owner Ryan Foster spoke with us about running a mobile food business and what it's like at busy events like the Food Truck Frenzy.

Marc Alghini is the program director and morning on-air personality at 99.9 WWCT. He has overseen a gradual evolution in the live music scene in Peoria, bringing in quality national acts at both traditional venues and non-traditional ones. We chat about the upcoming Spoon show at the Limelight Eventplex on Sunday, several other upcoming shows in the central Illinois area and the passing of Walter Becker of Steely Dan.

On The Cue Podcast this week, we preview the Peoria Blues and Heritage Music Festival, which runs Sept. 1 and 2 on the Peoria Riverfront, with the help of some special guests. Jack "Mad Dog" Manis from Jay Goldberg Events and musician Chris Stevens talk about this year's lineup, the influence of John Mayall and Dr. John, local boy gone national Matthew Curry and some of the music workshops that will be hosted by Stevens throughout the weekend.

Chris Stevens, one half of the duo T&C and a local blues musician, drops in on the Cue pod to talk about the Peoria Blues and Heritage Festival, where he will be performing and leading guitar workshops all weekend. He even gave us a few demonstrations in the studio.

David McDonnell, an Irish author and storyteller from Traverse City, Mich., joins the Cue podcast ahead of his appearance at Erin Feis this weekend. McDonnell discusses his 900-page book, "ClanDonnell," as well as his favorite aspects of Irish festivals.

Local comedian Jeff Bailey, a Metamora native, chats about becoming a standup comic and what it takes to survive in the competitive world of live comedy. He is performing this weekend in Red, White and "Blue" Comedy at the Jukebox Comedy Club.
