Episode 37 is going to make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. On Side A we talk about one of Amanda's favorite new artists, the Canadian singer/songwriter, Charlotte Cornfield, and her cover of Lucinda William’s “Fruits of My Labor.”  Amanda was first drawn to Cornfield when she heard the song, “Pac-Man” which has quickly become a staple on her playlists . Our Side B features a conversation with Matt about Joy Division who were pioneers of the post-punk movement and LCD Soundsystem’s cover of “No Love Lost.” Here at Cover Story, we are huge LCD Soundsystem fans & can’t wait to banter with The Boner about this band. Today’s episode is one that Amanda has been waiting to record, perhaps, since the 7th grade which was when she first got her hands on one of her favorite cassette tapes of all time: The Pixies Doolittle. On Side A we talk about Nada Surf’s cover of the seminal classic by The Pixies, "Where is my mind?".  And, as promised on our last episode, we are going to take Filler out of his comfort zone as we bust out the tie dye and strap on our Birkenstocks to talk about one of my favorite covers of all time: Grateful Dead’s version of Broken Arrow. Episode 35 was a delight to record. Our Side A features a beautiful cover of Paul Simon’s Graceland by Justin Townes Earle - a brilliant songwriter who built his own legend but couldn’t outrun the darkness that came with it. Our Side B features legendary singer, songwriter, and musician Chris Cornell and his band Soundgarden. Their song Black Hole Sun was covered beautifully by the jazz pianist Brad Mehldau. Episode 34 is vibrant: Our Side A features, Kendrick Lamar, one of the most talented and poetic hip hop MC’s of the past decade taking inspiration from one of Filler’s favorite jazz guitarists Grant Greene.  Our Side B has our volume set to 11 as we discuss Metallica and their latest album, Blacklist, which features a ridiculous number of covers. This episode also brings back our “Call in Listener” segment as Johnny Night Train, from the band Jet Ransom, gives us a call to wax poetic about Cliff Burton, the original bassist from Metallica. Support the show

Our Side A features one of the greatest Feisty Feminist songs of all time which was originally a man's account of bedding women—until Cyndi Lauper transformed it into a rallying cry for sexual equality. That’s right - we are talking about "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". Our Side B has been brewing since we first went to the white board for Cover Story. We’ve been waiting for the right time to talk about Harry Nilsson and his cover of “Everybody’s talkin’". Thanks to the awesome show on Netflix Russian Doll, which features one of Nilsson’s songs ad nauseum, we finally found the perfect moment to feature an episode on Harry Nilsson. We love a good Rabbit Hole here on the porch at Cover Story so don’t be surprised that our rabbit hole leads us to a bunch of banter about the Midnight Cowboy.
