Xbox Changes and Then Reverses Course on Xbox Live Gold Pricing, Resident Evil 8 Demo (Maiden) - VG2M # 258
On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison start out by giving out their reactions to the Resident Evil Village: Maiden PS5 demo. What they liked about the setting and story aspects of it and also wonder what the story could actually be about as you move further into the game itself. In this section there’s also discussion on the rest of the Resident Evil Showcase reveals which were not as glamorous or meaningful. Marc also talks about playing some Immortals Fenyx Rising and how he’s enjoying it, but that it also feels empty and flying isn’t the best. The guys also give some thoughts on the major praise Hitman 3 has received. Plus, thoughts on the news about Resident Evil 4 Remake being switched to Capcom Division 1 as they figure out what’s the best course to take on it.After that, it is all about the drama surrounding the price increase to Xbox Live Gold and the eleventh hour decision to reverse it. While also subsequently making free-to-play games actually free without having to pay the subscription fee to play them. They also ponder the need for a subscription to play online at this point? And Sean really wishes that Microsoft would implement a family plan out of all this.In sadder news, Vicarious Visions' entire studio was merged into Blizzard and now the studio responsible for the Tony Hawk 1 + 2 Remasters is essentially no more and now just supporting Blizzard on their projects. Marc is very bummed about this, as Activision had the chance to have a studio that could create an original project and chose otherwise. Could there be something going on at Blizzard? Finally, Puzzle Quest 3 is announced, Gabe Newell wants Valve to make more single-player games and how Marc feels this is a hollow sentiment. While Sean thinks that they should be given the benefit of the doubt. Also, the retirement of Takaya Imamura and his legacy at Nintendo. Lucasfilm Games is Back, Another Cyberpunk 2077 Apology, GameXplain Reveals Game Review Crunch- VG2M # 257
On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison enjoy the return of the full-fledged gaming news week, as this week featured quite a lot to talk about from various spectrums from another Cyberpunk 2077 apology to the return of Lucasfilms Games. The guys get to it all and still find time to talk some Wandavision at the end too. Firstly though it is about actually playing the video games. Sean and Marc describe the folly of playing Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Game - Complete Edition in four-player co-op. Marc also talks about why he may not be the biggest fan of the game. Sean is enjoying the Little Nightmares II demo too. Sales charts from the entirety of 2020 are out and the duo discusses the insanity of how the Nintendo Switch has succeeded and how they could continue that in 2021. While also examining what could be left as far as Wii U ports to bring over now that Super Mario 3D World is getting its time in the spotlight very soon. They also discuss some of the reveals from the latest trailer for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. Lucasfilm Games is back and is now the reservoir for everything that is Star Wars gaming related. Also, a Bethesda studio, Machine Games, is working on an Indiana Jones game. Is there anything to expect from the makers of the new Wolfenstein titles getting into more Adventure type games? Plus, they tackle the argument of exclusivity again too. Furthermore, what type of Star Wars game is Ubisoft making with Massive tasked with the game. Could it really be “The Division: Star Wars?” CD Projekt Red issued another apology for Cyberpunk 2077 this time in video form from Co-Founder and CEO Marcin Iwinski. However, the length of the video gave way to saying too much and led to more lies and blame-shifting on quality assurance. What does it say about the road map including free DLC before the next-gen console versions? Also, a revealing article by Patrick Klepek at Waypoint features four former GameXplain channel employees discussing various stories from their time working there. Many of them utterly damning, especially what Steve Bowling went through in reviewing Final Fantasy VII Remake. While this is an extreme and saddening example, it does show the disconnect between short embargo times and the length of AAA games. Sean discusses how boss Andre Segers is squarely to blame for many of the travesties in the article. And why trying to get a game review out by a certain date should be relaxed more. Focusing more on the health of workers instead. They also end the show by giving thoughts on Wandavision and discuss upcoming games. The 25 Best Games of 2020 Discussion: Ghost of Tsushima, Hades, Demon's Souls
On this final and special episode of Video Games 2 the MAX for 2020 hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison are joined by Randy Isbelle and Jens Dietrich in discussing and debating what belongs on the list of this year's 25 Best Games. This is our second of two podcasts looking back at the year that was 2020. Although we do nominate some new games that weren't previously discussed, please make sure to listen to our previous episode where we discussed our Personal Top 10 Games to get a more in-depth reasoning as to what games wound up making the majority of the list, as this episode is mostly about ranking those games. The discussion as to what we loved about them happened on the previous episode. There are still some fun debates here and passionate speeches, but don't go in expecting a ton of talk about the games themselves. Also, the last 10 minutes or so is a discussion on some highlights from the gaming year.

Back 4 Blood Alpha, Our Most Anticipated Games of 2021, Keith Mitchell - VG2M # 255
This episode of Video Games 2 the MAX features a guest in The Outerhaven founder and writer for Tom’s Hardware Keith Mitchell as he joins Sean Garmer, Marc Morrison, and regulars, Jens Dietrich, and Randy Isbelle. Keith talks about his origins with gaming and games writing. While also discussing some of his favorite genres, conversing extensively with Jens about how much he enjoys the Soulsborne games and his favorite Resident Evil titles too. Keith also talks about some of his favorite games from 2020, especially the Demon’s Souls Remake. Once again gaming conversation surrounds the uber popular Cyberpunk 2077 as new news items surface regarding enlarged save files due to too much crafting, which causes them to become corrupted. Not to mention, CD Projekt Red could also face class action lawsuits due to misleading investors. This also leads to discussion on the entire saga as a whole from both a consumer and reviewer perspective. Plus, Defector and Paste Magazine took the controversy involving Cyberpunk 2077 to a new level and at the same time angered many inside both the writing and game development industries. Keith and Sean discuss how the review process actually works in working with PR companies and why NDA’s are not bad. What they are usually for and why sometimes you choose not to sign one. Not to mention, the very real consequences of breaking one that can occur. Finally, in the main topic everyone gives their Top 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2021. How good is Back 4 Blood after Keith played the alpha. Does Final Fantasy XVI actually come out this year? Will Halo Infinite wind up getting canceled on Xbox One consoles? Is Kena: Bridge of Spirits the indie game everyone’s excited about? There’s just so many games. There’s certainly something for all in 2021. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, FIFA Lawsuits, PS5 Launch- VG2M # 251
On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison discuss World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Hades, and more Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla too. Plus, PS5 accounts are being banned for selling access to the PS Plus Collection to PS4 players. Does this create another conundrum of control for digital games? Or is this more of Sony protecting its gift and making sure it is used correctly? Will Sony eventually give PS4 players the opportunity to also have the PS Plus collection? All those questions are explored in this topic. Also, the super accomplished soccer star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has opened the door for a potential myriad of lawsuits to come EA’s way over likeness rights in the FIFA games, as he is not part of the FIFPro players union and doesn’t feel correctly compensated. Now over 300 other players are also pondering lawsuits. Could this change the landscape of soccer video games similar to the college football one? Or does this just wind up as a big cash settlement and perhaps a change in contracts going forward? Not to mention, Neo: The World Ends With You is officially announced, Avengers still hasn’t made back its development costs, Red Dead Online goes solo, and SNK gets some ownership interest too. Could PlayStation Really Have an Answer to Xbox Game Pass? - VG2M # 250
On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison discuss more games they are playing. Marc has spent a lot of time with Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. While Sean has done the same with Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The guys discuss their progress in both games and why Valhalla is more akin to the older AC games than you may think. Sean also discovers Dragon Kart, brand new jobs, and Karaoke in Yakuza. Sean got to check out Hades and start his journey in one of the best games of 2020. Then, it is on to the news, as PlayStation outsold Xbox in Japan. The Embracer Group buys even more studios, and the Last of Us TV series gets the full greenlight at HBO. Jim Ryan is once again talking a lot in the media. He dropped a hint that there is “news to come” on a potential PlayStation answer to Xbox Gamepass. The duo ponder what that could actually look like, what would be included, and should Sony just bundle PlayStation Plus and PS NOW together for one price? Also, IO Interactive surprised everyone with their acquisition of the James Bond license. Promising an original story for 007 in the game. The guys wonder if there will be any allusion to any of the Bond films or stories and IO will improve upon what they already do with the Hitman franchise too. This also leads Sean and Marc to discuss the rumored potential sale by Square-Enix of their Western IP’s such as Just Cause, Tomb Raider, and Deus Ex. Who could be the one to buy them? Would it be better for them to go elsewhere? And would this help Square-Enix refocus their efforts on doing more with other Japanese IP’s? Finally, Marc finds the prospect of a Tetris film interesting, but isn’t happen with the direction of the narrative. Watch Dogs: Legion, Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed Again - VGM # 246
On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison discuss the run of delays between Cyberpunk 2077, Bravely Default II and Destruction All-Stars. What does it mean for Cyberpunk 2077 to once again be taking some more time in the oven. Is it really coming out on December 10? Is this secretly a good thing for the game since it would come out at a less crowded time? Or does the super negative reaction prove it should have just released already. Nintendo gets into the mix as well with the revelation that Control: Ultimate Edition and Hitman 3 are coming to Nintendo Switch via the Cloud. Could this be a way for Nintendo to keep up with Sony and Microsoft when it comes to third party titles even without a true next-gen console? Sean believes it certainly could be. But will these two titles give Nintendo enough confidence to keep pushing for its use. Sony made some moves by possibly acquiring Crunchyroll and declaring their support for the PlayStation 4. While two Xbox teams lost two important creative directors for Halo: Infinite and Everwild. Should people be worried about Halo: Infinite and if this delays it even further out? Perhaps it just means the game will be even better once it finally arrives. Plus, Gears 5 gets story DLC, Assassin’s Creed is getting multiple series at Netflix, and Buzzfeed is making an e-sports and gamergate movie with Ellen Page. You can always let us know your thoughts on the show via the comments, email us at w2mnetwork@gmail.com with any questions or concerns, or shout out and follow us on twitter or via the Facebook page too. Alex Hutchinson's Stupid Tweets, Star Renegades, Console Launch Memories - VG2M # 245
On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison discuss Sony finally letting streamers, influencers, and gaming sites preview the PlayStation 5. They also talk about some games they are playing too. Sean is enjoying two different Strategy RPG titles in Star Renegades and Ikenfell. While Marc plays some older stuff in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and the first Alice game. The CEO of one of Google Stadia’s creative teams, Alex Hutchinson, put out some terrible tweets stating Streamers should pay a license to stream the video games they play. Although neither host is really a streamer, they have some choice words for the idiotic statements. They discuss the various ways streaming has helped the industry grow, the hard work content creators put in that goes unnoticed, and the fact that 99 percent of streamers actually pay for the games they play already. There’s also other discussions as well on the show. Could an X-Cloud stick create an entry point for console gaming? Also, the original Fire Emblem becomes the next Nintendo limited release, is this going to be a trend for Nintendo moving forward with every anniversary? Plus, the Uncharted movie gets some pictures, Ubisoft wants to connect for cross-progression, and more. Finally, in the special topic of the week, the guys discuss their console launch memories for the various times in life where they received or bought consoles for the first time over the many console generations. Solitaire Conspiracy, PlayStation 5 Teardown, Cyberpunk 2077 Goes Gold - VG2M # 243
On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX, hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison discuss the resurgence of PlayStation 5 in the news, as Sony revealed the insides of their next-gen console to the world. However, it didn’t stop there, Sony also finally shared how game saves, game libraries, and PS4 backwards compatibility will work with the system. The guys discuss the interesting tidbits from all of this. Microsoft also continues to make moves as they made a deal with Gamestop to help stores on the backend. But could it mean more in the future? And will Xbox All-Access having a physical outlet turn some folks towards getting a Xbox Series system. They also talk about the rumors of Series X getting too hot and Gamepass going to IOS through a browser based app. Will Apple actually let that happen? Sadly, the duo also have to get into the sour side of gaming with people harassing Insomniac’s community manager for the change to Spider-Man’s face. And even worse, journalists are making side stories out of the CD Projekt Red decision to work overtime to finish Cyberpunk 2077. Sean has some serious thoughts on this. And he also goes into how a certain person is making this much more into a personal agenda and attacking differing opinions, instead of just reporting the situation. Marc also shares his thoughts on Solitaire Conspiracy and there’s upcoming game talk too. Super Mario 35, Steve in Smash Bros., PS5 Saves - VG2M # 242
On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison banter about Steve and Alex from Minecraft making it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Of course, some folks were not happy about it, but honestly, it is all quite shocking. It totally adds another new wrinkle to the variety of fighters in the game. Plus, Nintendo apparently thinks the Joycon drift “is a non-issue.” Although Marc feels otherwise. And Nintendo wins some lawsuits and it sparks debate about emulation too. Marc also has thoughts on Mario 35 as well. There’s also the not so clear cross-gen and PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 save situation. Also, Spider-Man’s face changed for the PS5 remaster. Are these things something that’s worth getting upset about? Or is this another case of news being blown out of proportion in the hype toward new a console launch? Xbox Series X’s are out for preview and backwards compatible games have new load times and show off the vaunted Quick Resume feature. Not to mention, the size of the darn thing. Sean has some thoughts on all the new information on the system. And how Yakuza: Like a Dragon being next-gen only on Xbox until March 2021 could be a feather in the cap for their good press lately. In our major topic, the guys also talk about the latest with WWE and Twitch. Now, the company wants full control of their wrestler’s accounts. Could this turn into an absolute nightmare for the superstars that gained a following on the site?
