The Thing About Aliens…
It’s 2017.  We have been making television shows and movies about aliens since around 1938. Aliens have been referenced in books, sacred texts, temples, and land features all over the globe for at least a few thousand years.  The History channel has a whole show on this subject.  The Commute for Peace is dedicated to bringing about more peace on Earth, as well as above…or below it, so first let’s look at how the perception of aliens has morphed through history through our accounts of interactions with them:   Ancient History: Aliens were Gods with advanced technology, knowledge, and wisdom.  Tempers, they also seem to have had tempers, and some of them liked Earth Girls…a LOT.  We should definitely appease them so they don’t get mad at us. Less Ancient History: Nobody knows more than the Church, not even aliens.  Jesus Christ is WAY cooler than the Aliens ever were.  Stop talking about Aliens, talk about Christ and the Church.  I mean it, I will frigging burn, imprison, drown, or otherwise dismember you if you talk about Aliens again. Recent History (1940s-1950s): Aliens are real, and they are going to destroy Earth because we are acting like pricks and recently developed atomic bombs with such flippant disregard that we even invented a painfully spicy candy named after them.  WE don’t even like us very much right now. More Recent History (1960s): There’s no such thing as aliens, keep doing what you’re doing.  More bombs, burgers, and chocolate shakes coming right up.   There, don’t you feel better now? Even More Recent History (1970s-1980s): The government is trying to cover it up! Aliens are real, but they have an abnormal anal compulsion.  Also, they like sucking blood out of cows and touching people where they pee.  That’s all they care about.  Anal probes, animal exsanguination, and human reproductive organs.  10 Trillion galaxies in the universe, could be fun things going on elsewhere, but nope, they like to come here solely to be creepy and nefarious. Just a Few Decades Ago (1990s): The Truth is dark, smoky, and sinister. “They” are controlling our minds, our government, and our world, man!  Also, alternatively, why haven’t we made contact yet?  Why don’t we hear anything out there?  Where is everyone?  But also, they’re mining our organs.  The “monster” we perceive is just a projection of our own fear.  Or possibly actual aliens.  Maybe both,

Quantum Entanglement and Prayer
The phrase "Quantum Entanglement" can make a person's eyes glaze over.  In today's podcast, we break down aspects of the human body, explain exactly how we interact with the physical world and the quantum field, and then talk about how our interconnectedness enables things like prayer/distance healing.  I don't think it will put you to sleep! Energy moves through and from us in a variety of ways, and this interaction of energy and matter can have a variety of effects on us; energy can sustain or nourish, destroy, or even transform both our physical bodies as well as the core of our existence. Let’s begin by focusing on some of the basic mechanics of energy interactions then move to the more abstract, quantum level from there. Our body is a vehicle that tends to move us from one place to another and every vehicle needs fuel on which to run. The fuel that cars ingest was derived from things that once lived on the surface of the planet; we often refer to this type fuel as energy, and the amount of energy available to the machine can help determine how much power it can exert. It takes energy and power to affect change on the material world; whether you have a tractor digging a foundation, an airplane moving people from one continent to another, or a horse dragging a plow across a small farmstead, energy is needed to generate the power necessary to change the world around us. Likewise, whether we consume plants or animals, we are ingesting energy from things that once lived on the surface of the planet. The lack of food directly translates to a lack of power and lack of ability to effect change on the world around us, whether that change means doing homework or learning new concepts in school, building a home, performing surgery to save someone’s life, or caring for children. We can definitively measure how the lack of proper nutrition causes dips in cognitive and athletic ability, dropping the body into a protective subsistence mode that conserves both energy and power for vital functions. Depending on what kind of food energy we take in, we can either contribute to our health or detract from it. Burgers, bacon, and french fries may be delicious going down, but they contribute to cholesterol deposits in our arteries and fatty deposits throughout our bodies. A variety of studies indicate some of the foods we eat contribute to GI issues, high blood pressure, inflammation or allergies, and even cancer. This is because not ev

Healing and Preventing Anger
The best way to heal anger is to first stop creating it! Although it is not officially listed as a dangerous carcinogen and there are currently no public health campaigns or "wars" targeting this scourge, anger is the deadliest health threat humans face.  At its most obvious and urgent, we are presently at risk of a nuclear war simply over anger.  In our communities, violence and murder have sadly become commonplace in too many corners of the world.  In the home, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, and unresolved family issues threaten to derail many of us on a daily basis. What is to be done? The simple answer can be found every day in the material world; after a fire destroys a building, we salvage what remains, clean up the site, and then we rebuild.  When an engine breaks down, we get the mechanical components fixed so the engine can run again.  When someone has an accident and breaks a bone, we set it and protect it until it has healed.  The message is clear and ubiquitous; repair, rebuild, and thrive. Healing the damage caused by anger doesn't seem to be completed with nearly the same efficiency and competence as we find when fixing material things, and yet, material things are far less important than the emotional health of our families, societies, and communities. It's important to understand that whether you are angry at someone else, or someone else is angry at you, you are being poisoned (by your own creation) -or worse if that anger erupts into violence.  In other podcasts, we have reviewed the concept that we are all Creators, and we are always creating something.  Anger is a creation.  Violence is a creation, but so is healing, love, and compassion. In this podcast, we talk about what's in it for you - why you should bother with healing and trying not to create additional anger in your life.  We look at quotes and excerpts from the Bhagavad Gita, the Tao Te Ching, the Christian Bible, the concept of Alchemy, as well as revisiting ideas about energy exchange between people, this time visualizing the Chladni Plate experiments. Endings and the Sacred Spiral
A person's physical life has a typically predictable cycle of events.  There is a birth process, a period of learning and growth, a period of mastery and sophistication, a process of increasing limitations and decay, and finally, physical death.  Our relationships, be they in the form of a romance, a single job or entire career, a group membership, or even a family relationship, can go through the same cycles as well.  We tend to mourn what we see as ending periods in our lives just as we would mourn a loved one, because each of these things, like marriages or jobs, are mini-lifetimes themselves. We live in a culture that has an obsession with endings.  Break-ups, corporate firings, the end of the world...our focus seems to constantly be on catastrophe, but there is another perspective available to try on; the Sacred Circle.  The circle has been a revered symbol in many places throughout the world for thousands of years, and in many cultures it signifies God, the highest deity or power in the Universe.  When viewed in two-dimensional space, a circle is said to have no end and no beginning.  However, if we were to expand our thinking into multiple dimensions and turn the circle on its side, what we might uncover is a spiral.  The additional dimension of time added to the two-dimensional circle creates an endless twisting coil of cyclical progress and development, spiraling off into infinity. In this podcast, we look at the many cycles of our relationships and we talk about giving the death of each relationship a "life review", and we go in depth about how to regard such a life review without blaming ourselves or others.   Today's cover photo graciously provided by Aaron Burden on Unsplash; https://unsplash.com/photos/XGNkXDdJcyc

Resonant Frequency and Turning the Other Cheek
In today's episode, we once again examine our interactions with others in terms of energy exchange, and it will help to be thinking about how energy moves from one place to another in an oscillating wave.  This time, we talk about how someone else's anger gets magnified when it is met with our own anger in response, and we look at a similar concept in science called Resonant Frequency.  In order to prevent ourselves from entering into a state of Resonant Frequency with another angry person, we look at the scientific principle of noise cancellation, and compare this to the idea Jesus propounded in his sermon on the mount about "Turning the Other Cheek". We also examine the Tao Te Ching for ideas about the natural flow of energy and how surrender can show power rather than weakness.   From there, we identify and discuss how to eradicate the feeling of powerlessness, by exploring pseudo-scientific thoughts on the nature of time, where we go when we die, and the true meaning and significance of being Eternal.  We just barely begin to delve into the concepts of Quantum Wave Theory in comparing the idea of Eternity in the pure Energy state versus Time in the Material World (which are really two sides of the same coin), and what all of this means in terms of our relationships here on earth.  At the very least, is my hope that at the end of this podcast, we will no longer get road rage or need to troll people on the internet! I like to dream big.   Check out the website for links to topics and books discussed. https://www.commuteforpeace.com/

Universal Oneness and the Blessings of Destruction
Today we look at the way a prism splitting light is much like religion splitting God; a universal oneness gets broken down into several individual colors and interpretations all over the world, each one as valid as the colors (blue, green, red, yellow - there is no "Right" color) that are split from pure white light, the universal energy that surrounds us.   From there, we look at the concept of how the entire universe appears to be encoded with a pattern of destruction and renewal, from the impersonal scientific as well as the religious perspective, and finally, we contemplate the idea that there must first be space before there can be growth and rebirth.  We all spring forth from a womb, and part of the value of the womb is the protective space it provides for growth.  When we become too full of ourselves, when the world becomes too full of people, sometimes a reset occurs that can be painful or tragic, but which also becomes the womb for new life, rebirth, and renewal. Some of the people and topics in this episode: Egyptian Sun-God Ra, Prisms, Tectonic Plates, Ernest Hemingway, Radiocarbon Dating, Noah and the Flood Myth, Hindu: Brahman, Vishnu, and Shiva, Buddhist Sand Mandalas, and Greensburg, Kansas. Quantum and Divine Energy
In this episode, we look at the ways we are already surrounded by, and connected to, various forms of energy that we can measure scientifically.  We use this concept as the springboard for diving into our connected state as co-creators, and we discuss the consequences and effects of the energy we create and share with others.  Whether you call this energy Quantum (Scientific), Brahman (Hindu), Tao (Taoist or Daoist), Allah (Muslim), Spirit (New Age), YHWH or Yahweh (Jewish) or God (Christian and Catholic), the important point here is that in religions and disciplines of thought all over the world, we have a concept of a unifying, all-inclusive energy as the basis of our hypothesis and beliefs.  No matter what language we speak, what food we eat, what country is listed on our passport, we are connected to and by this energy field. A layperson's introduction to Quantum Wave Theory that I spoke of in the "Quantum and Divine Energy" can be found here. Also mentioned: Rumi, TVs and Cosmic Radiation The Celestine Prophecy:  This is a fictional work that provides insight into the way energy is transferred between ourselves and the world around us.  As we contemplate our constant, inescapable role as Creators, it's important to understand that our relationships can devolve into a power struggle if we are not mindful of our energy.  A quick and entertaining read, but profound and life-changing, nonetheless!

Making Peace with “Haters”
When dealing with hateful people, or hate groups, it's important not to emulate their behavior and magnify problems with our own response to their anger.  In this episode, we look at current events and revisit wisdom from inspirational thinkers and religious leaders.
