Women in baseball: Cambodia’s national team coach rescues young human trafficking victims
Women coaching and working in men’s baseball has increased lately. Just this season the San Francisco Giants hired, Alyssa Nakken, the first woman to coach full-time in Major League Baseball while Dr. Justine Siegal @justinebaseball has contributed to the Oakland A’s in varying on-field roles. In that company, Jessica Neitz, an American holds the distinction in coaching the men’s and women’s national baseball teams of Cambodia and serves on the Cambodia Baseball Federation. However extraordinary that seems, Jessica’s, along with her husband, Eric, operate Esther’s House, providing RESCUE, RESTORATION, and REINTEGRATION of children, age 3-18, who have been victim of trafficking and exploitation. In this episode we learn about how Jessica and her husband wound up in Cambodia to start Esther’s House. Stay tuned for the next part of this series when Jessica discusses her role in Cambodia baseball and how she has moved it to the next level internationally.
