Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Rowing Across The Altantic Ocean with LEO Mark Pfetzer
Hello and Welcome back to the Top Ranked Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. Thank you for making this show very popular. If you would share with family and friends and give us a 5-Star Rating and Review we sure would appreciate it.  A big shout out and thank you to YOU, the Criminal Justice Professional. In this difficult time you continue to serve with honor and that doesn't go unnoticed by the majority of Americans. No matter what you read, see or hear remember that vast majority of people support you. Please be safe and keep up the great work.  If you or someone you know is suffering with depression, addiction issues or both, please reach out to FHE - Health. If you are suffering and you are a first responder please reach out to FHE - Health Shatterproof Program for First Responders at 844-650-1399 or reach out to me directly at 303-960-9819. So excited to have Mark Pfetzer on the show. Mark is a full time Law Enforcement Professional in New Mexico with many dedicated and honorable years of service. Mark is one of those individuals that is making an impact with First Responder Health and Wellness. Mark is so dedicated to this cause that he and a team of first responders at rowing across the Atlantic Ocean as part of the Talisker Atlantic Whiskey Challenge. All for raising awareness and action for First Responder Health and Wellness.  Mark is also part of Guardian Initiatives who's mission and dedication is below:  Each and every one of us are served by first responders in our communities.  These men and women voluntarily enter in to a profession that we all know to be dangerous.  Gunfire, ambushes, fires, search and rescue missions, and emergency driving are all dangers of the job that the general public hear about and can understand. However, lurking in the shadows of these high profile dangers is a lesser known, but just as deadly risk.  The psychological traumas experienced by our nation’s police, fire, EMS, and 911 dispatchers can lead some down a destructive and all too often deadly path.  The consequence of seeing tragedy on a regular basis can contribute to depression, substance abuse, and other effects of post traumatic stress.  Tragically, for some, a false sense of hopelessness results in suicidal behavior.  The number of first responders who die by suicide is alarming and heart-breaking.  While data is available, it is believed to be incomplete as researchers predict the number to be far more than what is reported.*  More powerful than the problem is the reality that the effects can be prevented and the damage treated.  Through awareness, training, and treatment by culturally competent clinicians, first responders affected can move on to live full and satisfying lives.  It is the hope of Team Guardian, through this initiative, to make as big of an impact in this as  possible.    Such a great show!!   You can find Mark here: https://www.facebook.com/guardianinitiatives/    https://guardianinitiatives.org/resources    https://guardianinitiatives.org/2022-crew    Stay tuned for more great guests on The CJEvolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

Hello everyone and welcome back to the show. The CJEvolution Podcast is a top ranked show because of YOU. Thank you very much for your continued support. Please give us that 5-Star Rating and Review on Apple Podcasts and share this episode and the link www.cjevolution.com to your family and friends.  A big shout out and THANK YOU to all the brave men and women who serve in the First Responder Community. Please be safe and come home safe to your family and friends. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved.  As a first responder you and feel things on a daily basis that most people will never experience in their lifetime. This requires special treatment and care for our first responder community. This is what the team at FHE - Shatterproof for First Responders do on a daily basis. Their goal is to make our first responders better so they can continue to be their best for their families and communities. If YOU or someone you know is suffering please reach out to FHE Health -Shatterproof for First Responders @ 844-939-0985 or me @ 303-960-9819.  You are not alone. You are never alone.  As a retired law enforcement professional of many years I saw things on a daily basis that eventually started to bother me. Most first responders do and your emotions will come out sooner or later. As a police officer I was in my bubble. Surrounded by other cops all the time. But, as time went on and as I became friends with other members of the first responder community: paramedics, firefighters and dispatchers I started to realize and learn that we are all suffering from the same things, if we are suffering. Isolation, depression, addiction issues and suicidal ideation were reoccurring themes.  My next guest is going to bring you the Fire Fighter / Paramedic perspective on health and wellness for our brave heroes in the fire fighting / paramedic communities.  Jason Smith is on the show. Jason is the President of IAFF Local 4321 for Broward County FL. President Smith joined Broward County Fire Rescue in 2003 and has served county residents and visitors in every service area. He began his career as a  Firefighter/Paramedic and then rose through the ranks as an Acting Driver, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief and even Assistant District Fire Chief. Since the beginning of his career, President Smith has been diversified in all areas of the county, including Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, and the Special Operations Command. President Smith has also been the Planning Section Chief at the Sheriff’s Emergency Operations Center as well as being part of Presidential details.   President Smith started his union involvement in 2001, when he joined the IAFF local 3080. As a dues paying member in good standings, he attended meetings and was a part of the union body process. In 2003, he joined local 3333 and in 2005 was assigned his first position as Sergeant of Arms. This position allowed him to mentor, engage, and watch the union executive board (eboard) conduct business. After the resignation of a staff representative, President Smith was voted through the eboard to hold that vacant seat. Since then, he has held all positions within the eboard. In 2019, President Smith decided to run for President and ran unopposed.  As Vice President, he was able to represent members in various cases including internal affairs, grievances, union negotiations, and labor management. President Smith oversaw the FIRE OPS 101. This opportunity allowed him to demonstrate to elected officials what the fire service is about. In his continuing devotion to serving the community, President Smith has also been on education advisory boards and is currently on the Florida Retirement System (FRS) committee as a union representative in hopes of achieving reinstatement of benefits to members affected in 2015.  President Smith is also a licensed pilot. He has graduated with an Associate degrees in Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science Technology, a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, and a Master’s degree in Emergency Management from Walden University.    You can find Jason here:   https://www.linkedin.com/in/jason-smith-ms-01a93946/   http://www.bcfire.com/index.cfm?zone=/unionactive/officers.cfm    Email:  JSmith@bcfire.com   Stay tuned for more great episodes on The CJEvolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday - Step Forward and Don’t Look Back
Hello everyone and welcome back to the Top Ranked Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. Please take a moment and give us that 5-Star Rating and Review on Apple Podcasts. We would appreciate it.  A special thanks to all the brave men and women who work in the criminal justice field. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved. A big shout out to the Dispatachers who have a tremendous job and are often overlooked. Thank you! This is National Dispatchers Week, so reach out to a dispatcher and say thank you. Zig Ziglar said " If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you. "  Powerful words from one of the greats. We learn all the time, or we should be. What about you? Are you continuing to learn about you and your life? This moment in time is never going to return. What you do now can determine the course of your life. When it comes to mental health and addiction, do you think your recovery is magically going to come to you? It won't and it will never will unless you move forward and reach out. One of the most difficult things I ever did was reach out for help. It was very hard and I was ashamed. I was fearful. I know you are too. But, my recovery started at Shatterproof and my life took off from there.  You will get out of your recovery what you put into it like anything else.  If you are suffering, and you need help I encourage you to reach out. If  not me, then someone else but please do it. He then said I should hit the record button, which I did. That is why Dr. Doug Brackmann is much smarter than me. Such a great show filled with great information so take some notes. Some people are born with a drive often seen in entrepreneurs, pro-athletes, inventors, adventurers and Navy SEALs. It’s in their DNA — research has shown that certain genes can manifest resilient and highly focused people who can also be impulsive and easily distracted. While these traits enabled our ancient ancestors to survive, if you have these traits today, it can create havoc in your life. You may be diagnosed with ADHD or OCD. But what the world tells you is a disorder may actually be your greatest gift. Dr. Doug Brackmann is a distinguished psychologist, author of Driven: Understanding and Harnessing the Genetic Gifts Shared by Entrepreneurs, Navy SEALs, Pro Athletes, and Maybe YOU and creator of the Driven Assessment and Shooting Meditation. With dual PhDs in Psychology, Douglas Brackmann specializes in practices that hone in on the genetic gifts of roughly 10% of the population. Dr. Doug has spent his entire career working with top performers to help them overcome their limiting beliefs, stop their cycle of shame, and achieve the ultimate personal and professional successes. He has now turned his sights on developing content, tools, and even a Driven community to empower Driven people everywhere to end self-sabotage and live the life they’ve always wanted.   Connect with Dr. Doug here: Email: meghan@IAMdriven.com www.iamdriven.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/douglasbrackmann/ 1(858) 735.1667   Stay tuned for more great guests on The CJEvolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday: Live in the Moment
Hello everyone and welcome back to the Top Ranked Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. A podcast for the Criminal Justice Professional like YOU! A big thank you for all the brave men and women (like YOU) that work in the Criminal Justice Field. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved. Keep up the great work and please be safe. If you or someone you know are suffering from addiction, mental health challenges or both please reach out to FHE - Shatterproof for First Responders today. I am a proud alumni of this great program. It saved my life by providing me with the foundation to go forward and live a productive and happy life. It can do the same for you. If you have any questions or need more information, please reach out to me at 3039609819.   https://fherehab.com/services/first-responders/   Some many of us, myself included, try to look into the future. We look into the future to try to determine what is going to happen to use personally and professionally but we always fall short and we get frustrated. When I was in therapy at Shatterproof I learned that I needed to live more in the moment. I learned how to cherish each moment. Cherish and be grateful for what was in my world at the moment. You see even if you are going through difficult times right now there is so much to be grateful for.  Living in the moment and stepping back from the things we can't control will bring you more peace and happiness. I remember hearing the following prayer when I was growing up. It's called the Serenity Prayer: " God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know there difference."  Go out and conquer your day, and live in the moment.    Stay tuned for more great guests on The Top Ranked Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. www.cjevolution.com   Patrick
