This is Not the New Normal
Today we meet Single Guy Ernie from Bothell. He works as a corporate diversity trainer and is looking for a girl who is “smart, funny, and can make it work in these crazy times!” We introduce him to City Girl Angela from Everett and Country Girl Maryanne from Granite Falls. City Girl Angela says she is between her dream jobs so she is Hostessing for the time being. She is really excited about being on City vs Country and does not want to miss this opportunity but she is also concerned about going out “on the town” in the midst of Coronavirus. She suggests a “Sexy FaceTime Date” where they watch each other eat dinner and then watch a movie together, all while FaceTiming. She even suggest some risqué things they can do. Country Girl Maryanne is a yoga barre instructor. She thinks Angela and everyone else is totally over-reacting to the Coronavirus. She takes it seriously as far as hand washing and understands the ban on large events, but sees nothing wrong with going out to some local Irish bars for some St Patrick’s Day weekend fun. Everyone, including us, is pretty surprised when Ernie makes his choice. But how do you spell “disaster”? Oh, wait, I just did.

I’ve Got Friends in Less-Public Places
Today we met Single Guy Zack from Covington. He works at a casino, enjoys playing sports, especially basketball, and wants to meet a girl who knows how to have fun but can also still be a girly-girl. He’s only been in the area for about a year and works a lot so he really hasn’t seen much of either the City or the Country around here. We introduce him to City Girl Jane from Seattle and Country Girl Lauren from Enumclaw. City Girl Jane is a Yoga Instructor (there seem to be a lot of them around!) who also does some acting for fun at some local theaters. She suggests being a real-life Seattle tourist, with a stop at Pike Place and the original Starbucks, a ride on the Monorail and then dinner at the Space Needle. Country Girl Lauren works in a Dental Office for her job-job, but her real love is working with animals so she helps out on some local farms. She seems really shocked at the idea of Jane taking Zack to so many public places and thinks they should just go have dinner at the Yella Beak, where she knows everyone, and where they’ve been, and then go back to her place for Netflix, although not with the “Chill” part, just yet. Lauren gets a little feisty with Jane which probably helps play right into Zack’s decision. But in the end, will it work in her favor?

Keep Your Hands in the Car
Today is a special Single Parent Edition of City vs Country! We introduce Single Dad Bill from Hobart to City Girl Natasha from Tacoma and Country Girl Amy from Auburn. City Girl Natasha suggests a trip with all their kids to the Seattle Children’s Film Festival where they can watch short films from around the world, do some kid-friendly games and workshops and eat all kinds of foods. Country Girl Amy suggests a date with the kids to Northwest Trek where it’s the last kids-get-in-free-weekend and enjoying the amazing animals as well as the beautiful scenery and maybe grabbing lunch somewhere along the way. Bill’s questions to the two girls make us wonder if he really wants to bring the kids along at all, but we remind him it’s the Single Parent Edition and the kids are part of the package. And when we check in on Monday, it turns out that while kids were the key to getting the whole thing rolling, there will likely be a second date and it will be adults only!

She’s Not Bad She’s Just Drawn That Way
Today we meet Single Guy Robert from Tacoma. He works at the Port of Tacoma and enjoys meeting new people; he is looking forward to finding a good time this weekend and meeting a nice new woman. We introduce him to City Girl Monica, who is also from Tacoma, and Country Girl Whitney who is from Roy. City Girl Monica works in personal finance. As far as looks, she says people say she looks like a real life Jessica Rabbit! For their City date, she suggests going to Uncle’s Buck’s Fish Bowl for some crazy bowling and good food and fun. Country Girl Whitney works on her family’s farm, but she is also a baker and has a baking blog. She wants to keep their date simple – go for a drive in the Country in her Jeep Wrangler, maybe up around Mt Rainier, and just talk and get to know one another, and stop for some eats somewhere along the way. Robert has some questions for the ladies and he is definitely an interesting guy, in the broadest possible sense of “interesting.” In fact the more he talks, the more we start to wonder if maybe he shouldn’t choose either girl, and the P1’s are pointing out some Red Flags, but these girls are not squeamish. So who does Robert pick? Did they meet up? And who exactly calls us on Monday Morning?

Easy There Cowboy
Single Guy Matt from Edmonds is a supervisor at bottling company. He’s had some bad luck on the dating scene so he’s really hoping we can help him meet some nice girls. Today he gets to choose between City Girl Rachel from West Seattle and Country Girl Jessica from Woodinville. City Girl Rachel is a barista and bartender who is really into the local sports scene. She is really excited about Seattle’s new XFL Team the Dragons and she has a pair of tickets to first ever home game at Century Link Field. It’s an afternoon game so she suggests some dinner and bar hopping afterwards, and if Matt really wants that “country feel” they can go to Cowgirls Inc for some good country music and maybe some bull riding. Country Girl Jessica is an Elementary school teacher who loves to do Yoga and stay fit. But she also loves her beer, and she wants to take Matt to the McMenamin’s Brew Fest at the Anderson School in Bothell where they can drink and eat and hang out and get to know each other and maybe catch a movie. Matt has a lot of questions for these ladies. Like, a lot. And, well, they have answers…in fact, even after he makes his choice, we can’t be totally sure who will end up calling us Monday.

Today we meet Single Girl Samantha from SeaTac. Samantha is a paralegal who enjoys the outdoors. She wants a guy who makes her laugh but at 5’9” also really wants a guy who is taller than her. We introduce her to City Boy Cameron from Tacoma and Country Boy Kevin from Arlington. City Boy Cameron is a Yoga Instructor who is very psyched for this weekend’s outdoor yoga at Pt Defiance. He thinks Samantha will really enjoy that and thinks some nice time in the woods will get her Chakras right open. Country Boy Kevin is a Personal Trainer who claims to be “cut like steel”. Kevin suggests some outdoor snow fun because he has a couple of snowmobiles and wants to go up to some nice private property his buddy has near Stevens Pass. It does not go unnoticed that both guys spend a lot of words to describe themselves as “cut, ripped, and yoked” and that both want to take her to remote outdoor locations. But at least they are both over 6 feet tall.

Are You Ready For Some Foos-ball?
Single Girl Erica from Renton is a Yoga Instructor who is looking for a nice guy who knows how to have fun but also treat a woman right. We introduce her to City Boy Dan from Seattle and Country Boy Mike from Kent. Country Boy Mike is an English Teacher who is very much looking forward to the Super Bowl and thinks he and Erica will have a great time hanging out with his buddies at the bar “The Spot” for the game. When she seems a little, um, underwhelmed, he assures her they don’t have to spend the whole time there with his friends, they could also have some one-on-one time. When City Boy Dan comes on he is a little hesitant because with all the time he’s been waiting to be on CvC, as luck would have it, he has his kids this weekend. He didn’t want to turn down this chance, but also didn’t want to disappoint his kids, so he invites Erica to go with them to GameWorks in downtown Seattle for a day of fun and games and food. The P1’s think Erica should get a do-over on the whole show, but Erica thinks one of these guys is totally worth the chance. So, is he?

Now Let’s Meet Our Two Bad Axes
Single Girl Christine from Bothell is a caregiver for the elderly. She loves doing yoga and keeping fit. We introduce her to City Boy Steven from Wallingford and Country Boy Carl from Monroe. City Boy Steven is a forensic accountant who says he must be a good looking guy because people often tell him he’s “ripped” and “hot”. For a City Date, he suggests going to watch the Jet City Roller Derby and then going out to a neighborhood bar for some axe throwing. Country Boy Carl is a carpenter, although his real passion is bee-keeping. He laughs at the notion of going to a bar to throw axes in cages when they could just go to his property and throw them for real. For their Country Date he wants to take Christine to the Renaissance Fair in Monroe and promises that whether the date works out or not he will send her home with a jar of honey from his bees. Carl sounds like a slam-dunk better choice than Steven, until Fitz asks the guys what they will wear on their dates and then we learn a little much about Carl and kilts.

That’s a Really Long Way to Say Netflix and Chill
Single Girl Melissa from Bremerton is a 2nd Grade Teacher who loves skiing and hiking and meeting new people just hasn’t found the right guy. We introduce her to City Boy Adam, who is also from Bremerton, and Country Boy Brian from Shelton. City Boy Adam is ex-Air Force and now drives for Uber but his true passion is cooking. He says he is a World Class Chef and suggests for their date that he cook her dinner at his place. He also claims to have a very high home theater system so she can choose from 1000’s of movies or TV shows - basically it’s all an upscale version of Netflix and Chill. Country Boy Brian is a Veterinarian who loves snow sports and all he wants is to do is take Melissa up to Mt Rainier to the Paradise Play Area for some tubing or maybe snow shoeing and then stop in Olympia for dinner. Melissa thinks they both sound good but seems to like the uncomplicated simplicity of the Country Date. But…is there is reason Brian is so uncomplicated?

A Very Special City vs Country
Do you ever wonder what happens to the couples who meet on City vs Country? Well, so do we! So when we heard back from a couple who were willing to come on and share what happened next, we were super excited wanting to know if we actually made a real match! Back on November 22, we met Kristi from Bothell who is an office assistant at a financial firm. She chose Country Boy Rick from Carnation who owns his own construction firm. He took her on a date that included hiking at Snoqualmie Falls and when we heard back from them after that weekend they sure hit it off, and it seemed like maybe there would most definitely be another date. We teased them about whether they would have Thanksgiving Dinner together, and they joked about it being too soon to meet families. But…were they together at Christmas? And New Year’s? Should we be planning our first ever City vs Country wedding?

Smell Ya Later!
Single Girl Jasmine from SeaTac is a personal shopper at a high-end department store. She’s looking for someone causal but cool to have some holiday fun and something more. We introduce her to City Boy Jim from Federal Way and Country Boy Tommy from Lake Stevens. Jim is a Computer Programmer who enjoys going out a having fun. His idea for a date is to take Jasmine on the Santa-themed Seattle bar crawl called “Santa Con.” He promises to watch over her as they cut loose and drink and eat their through multiple bars around Downtown, Belltown and Pioneer Square. Tommy is an Electrical Engineer who enjoys hiking and fishing. His idea is to take Jasmine to the Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach in Stanwood where they can stroll through the beautiful lights and drink hot cocoa (and maybe schnapps) and then see where the night goes. It all sounds lovely until Tommy reveals a potential, umm, fetish? We try and move past it and get on to what they are all gonna wear but it just keeps coming up. So…what will Jasmine do? Well, whatever she does, we hope she wears a hat…

Welcome to My Date Talk
Single Girl Kristi from Bothell is an office assistant at a financial firm. She is petite with blonde and hair blue eyes and enjoys working out. She has apparently had a tough time finding a good guy because when Fitz asks her what she is looking for in a guy she says she wants him “to have a job”! We introduce her to City Boy Donny from Seattle and Country Boy Rick from Carnation. City Boy Donny works in Amazon Corporate Finance. He is a competitive rower although he also enjoys rowing for fun. For their date he says he has tickets to TEDx Seattle which another girl bailed on but he thinks will be really cool and meaningful. Afterwards he suggests drinks and light appetizers at Damn the Weather where they can talk about the Talks. Country Boy Rick from Carnation owns his own construction firm and also likes being outside. For his date, well, honestly he figures he doesn’t have to try too hard after the TEDx dude, so he suggests hiking at Snoqualmie Falls and then dinner at the Roadhouse Inn with “light convo and no lectures.” We’re not gonna tell you who she picks in this little recap - you gotta listen. But we will say it works out well enough that there may be a Thanksgiving dinner in the future!

You Look Positively Smashing, Darling!
Single Girl Diana from Newcastle is a Marketing Manager who has had some bad luck on the dating scene. We introduce her to City Boy Charlie from Ravenna and Country Boy Ron from Granite Falls. City Boy Charlie is a Claims Adjuster who lives a pretty ordinary business life, and can do the traditional bring-you-flowers thing. But, he has always wanted to try one of those “Rage Rooms”! And he figures what better way to meet a woman for the first time than to see her feisty side. He suggests Rage Industries on Lake City Way and says he will spring for the most expensive package with all the best smashing tools. Country Boy Ron from Granite Falls says he is a well- built guy who works for a “very successful website.” And he has a pretty dang great Country Date planned: he has tickets to Big and Rich at Snoqualmie Casino! He suggests they go to the Casino for dinner and some black jack as well. He says he has no desire to smash things, he is just honest and kind-hearted and treats all the women in his life well. These are both pretty brash offers for a very first date – which one would you choose?

A Song of Ice and Fire
This week we meet Lena from West Seattle who works as a personal nanny to a local family with a 3-year-old girl. We introduce her to City Boy Dave from Renton and Country Boy James from Woodinville. City Boy Dave is a hockey player who currently coaches youth hockey. He says he is in “great shape with a nice-looking body” and is great with kids like she is. He loves skating even in his free time to he suggests a date ice skating at Sno-King and then dinner after. When Lena is a little hesitant about skating he says not to worry that “he’ll take of her on the ice”. Country Boy James is a fireman – in fact he is the co-captain. He enjoys biking and kayaking in his free time. He also likes his whiskey and has a buddy at Woodinville Whiskey Distillery who can get him and Lena into a VIP private tasting room. Lena has a really tough time choosing because both guys present themselves really well. It sounds like she can’t go wrong either way. Who does she pick? And does it really turn into the Dream Date it sounds like?

I Wanna Talk About Me, Me, Me.
Janine is a single girl from Spanaway. She is an Administrative Assistant and former high school jock who still enjoys some pickup basketball. We introduce her to Country Boy Luke from Maple Valley who is a Woodworker at his uncle’s shop and City Boy Brandon from Tacoma who works in Finance and enjoys biking and hanging out with his dog. City Boy Brandon suggest for their date they have picnic at Pt. Defiance with homemade bread (one of his hobbies) and play with his dog. Then for later he suggests the Pacific Grill for dinner and for fun he wants to take her to the Tacoma Little Theatre to see “Evil Dead: The Musical.” Meanwhile Country Boy Luke suggests a drive in the Country and then he has tickets for Luke Combs at the Tacoma Dome! You probably think you know who she’s gonna pick…but she doesn’t. And the man she picks does not turn out as advertised. Do not miss part three. It’s…just…wow!

When We Say Country Boy We Mean Country B-o-y
Samantha from Redmond is a Vet Assistant who enjoys the outdoors. We introduce her to City Boy Doug from Lynwood and Country Boy Chad from Enumclaw. Doug is very, very city – he’s a Media Producer who likes going to the indoor Rock Climbing gym. He suggests he and Samantha go on a Margarita Crawl in Seattle. He’s done it before and says it’s a blast going to different bars and restaurants and doing some salsa dancing. Country Boy Chad is a contractor who also enjoys doing outdoorsy stuff. He has an 11-year-old son so he wants to keep their date pretty easy, and suggests she just join one of the weekly BBQ’S he and his neighbors throw every weekend around the fire pit. He says his friends are all really chill and they usually bust out some guitars with their beers. Samantha is a bit surprised Chad has a son but is still very into him. After both guys make their final pitch, Samantha chooses one. When we revisit the date Monday, it went…well, way better than last week’s City vs Country disaster!!

Creepy Vs Kooky
Single Girl Joanna is from Tukwila. She’s a property manager who likes the outdoors and drinking wine. She meets City Boy Scott from Ballard and Country Boy Chris from Covington. Scott works in IT but really wants to start a microbrewery. He wants to take her to “Brewology” at the Seattle Center this weekend where he can show her all about how craft beer is made and of course they can drink. And since its Halloween, “Brewology” is having a costume contest. This gets Joanna really interested because she has been wanting to dress as Morticia Addams and Scott says if she picks him he will dress as Gomez. Country Boy Chris is currently between jobs. And his dating style is a little looser – he wants to kind of kick it between Muckleshoot Bingo and Muckleshoot Casino and teach her the finer points of gaming and have some drinks. Joanna is a bit torn because she thinks both guys sound nice but she is SUPER excited about dressing up for the Halloween Costume Contest so she picks City Boy Scott. Scott sounds super excited too, but will that carry over into their actual date?

I’m Not Gonna Sell the Farm, But I’ll Give You a Tour
Aaron is a single construction worker from Marysville who likes meeting new people and really wants to find a nice girl. We introduce him to City Girl Gina from Federal Way and Country Girl Kayla from Snohomish. Gina is Vet Assistant who enjoys the outdoors but is really excited about Halloween. She wants to take Aaron costume shopping at the big Spirit Halloween store and then go for a nice seafood dinner at the Red Lobster. Country Girl Kayla from Snohomish works in Wilderness Medicine and also loves the outdoors. She wants to take Aaron to a pumpkin patch to play Zombie Paint Ball and then, if he really wants seafood, she turns up her nose at Red Lobster and suggests going to Andy’s for dinner. These girls are both loaded for bear and keep upping the ante with their wardrobe choices, so it seems Aaron can’t make a bad choice. And sure enough when we revisit on Monday, Aaron and his Chosen Girl are very, very giggly!

Wait, Is This “City vs Country” or “All Jacked Up”?
Josh is from Lynwood. He is a software programmer at a start-up who loves camping and hanging out with his little dog. We introduce him to Country Girl Hannah from Marysville and City Girl Miranda from Kent. Country Girl Hannah suggests going out to Stalker Farms for some scary Halloween fun in the corn maze and they discuss what kind of fun can be had in the woods of the country. City Girl Miranda starts off kinda odd, with a tirade about girls from Marysville and how they steal men and ideas, because she accuses Hannah of stealing her idea about going to Corn Maze. Turns out she’s had a past with some people from Marysville. Josh sorta lets that go by and continues asking other questions but we are all a little stunned. The text messages are already flying in before Josh even makes his choice and the more Miranda talks the more uncomfortable it gets. Especially when she starts describing what she wears. And then there’s the date…so, how did it go? Here’s a hint: Josh actually sent Fitz a message IN ALL CAPS!

I Could Go For a St Pauli Girl
Chris is from Belfair and works in the marine industry. He’s been looking for love for a while and hopes we can help him find a nice girl. He gets to choose between Country Girl Danielle from Allyn and City Girl Alicia from Bremerton and wow are they different from one another. Country Girl Danielle is pretty shy. She suggests they hang out at the Allyn Town Octoberfest where they can talk, enjoy food and beverages, and catch some of the local artist demonstrations like the chainsaw log carvers. City Girl Alicia is not at all shy. She is a golfer and invites Chris to Gold Mountain Golf Club where her dad is the Pro. She says even if he doesn’t want to play (although she really can’t hang with a guy who doesn’t) they can have lunch at the Club where the menu is spectacular and if they don’t have something he likes, well then, they’ll just make him whatever he wants. City Girl Alicia gets pretty flirty but just when it seems Country Girl Danielle is fading from the picture, she reminds Chris that Octoberfest means she’ll be wearing a Dirndl. So which Girl will Chris choose? Will they actually go out? And why do some of these City vs Country Girls always seem to bring their Dads into the picture?
