Episode 62 - Stock Watch
Today we’re trying something a little different.  For a long time, we’ve been talking about the Hollywood stock we’ve bought, how it turned out, and whose future we’d invest in today.  Our inescapable hubris made us believe you’d like to hear that conversation, so HERE IT IS!  You’re gonna hear names like Skeet Ulrich and James Purefoy (busts), Rosario Dawson and Anna Kendrick (stocks we’ll never sell), and Anya Taylor-Joy and Jonathan Majors (blue chip, first round picks).  This episode is essentially a long list (although we had hundreds more) of people we love, no matter what category they’re in.  Get ready for a dose of nostalgia for those we love, sadness for those who don’t seem to be coming back, hope for the return of old favorites, and giddy optimism for the next generation.  Also, you’ll get to follow the results of our futures draft!! Recommendations: Cole: Short Term 12, Country Strong, Sex Drive Jedd: Disturbia, Airborne, If Looks Could Kill

"I will speak for you, father. I speak for all mediocrities in the world. I am their champion. I am the patron's saint."  Join us as we discuss the pitch perfect masterpiece Amadeus.  This film has everything one would want and more.  We can't do the film justice but we certainly try.  Listen for Jedd coming in with an extremely hot take right out of the gate and listen closely for when Cole compares himself to Elizabeth Berridge.  Grab your marzipan and sit back and enjoy this fun filled episode. We’re back baby!!  And we knock the rust off while breaking down 1994’s "The Scout".  Yeah, we talk about this flawed beauty, but most importantly we can’t stop talking about two of our favorites, Brendan Fraser and Albert Brooks.  Thanks for the patience and we’re pumped to get started again! Episode 57 - Take Me Home Tonight
"Tonight we're not thinking -- just doing."  Let's travel back to the 80's to celebrate this film that was made in 2007 but released in 2011!  We feel this gem went under the radar and judging by the box office we're not wrong.  Join us as we cover all things Fogler, Grace, Faris and Pratt.  We love an homage when it's done right and this film gets it right.  All the way down to the "boyeeee" dance battle.  The soundtrack is also rad. If you're a fan of '80s movies or a fan of laughing or just looking for something to do while you hold GME all the way to the moon, then you'll for sure enjoy this one.  See you at Suncoast. "THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!!"  - Jedd is back and we do a quick burn on one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Aaron Sorkin's Trial of the Chicago 7.  This is a fascinating look at one of the most important moments in modern history as it moves back and forth between the events that led to the protest and riots of the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago and the bizarre trial that followed.  We loved it, but as with all things, we've got takes.  Jedd - 7.8/10  Cole - 8/10

Jan De Bont delivers an incredible disaster flick despite being a bit of a disaster himself behind the scenes. We get into all the meteorology and break down why this movie works, why the script is terrible, and why Cole thinks this is a fantastic “Mighty Ducks” remake. Strap down, get in the basement, and have some FOOOOOOD, because this is an F5 episode. Episode 48 - Happy Accidents
Today’s episode is an experimental journey through “Happy Accidents”, the 2000 Marisa Tomei/Vincent D’Onofrio romance. We mixed it up a bit and tried to have some fun with this off-beat, often bad, always bizarre time-travel romantic comedy. Cole watched the first half; Jedd watched the second and we then recorded our guesses as to what happened. Spoiler alert – Cole had no idea. We had a blast trying to dissect where this script was going and what could have been changed to make it work. Recommendations: Jedd: Frequency, Timecrimes, Primer, The Accidental Tourist Cole: Slums of Beverly Hills, Mystic Pizza, Edge of Tomorrow, Happy Gilmore We also have some thoughts at the top of the episode about where we are right now and you can find our full statement on Twitter (@cigburnspod), Instagram (@cigburnspod), and Facebook.  The films, books, and other resources we mention in the introduction are listed below: Films: - Boyz In The Hood - Fruitvale Station - 12 Years a Slave - 13th – Ava Duvourney - Within Our Gates - Fieldwork Footage - Tongues Untied - House Party - Just Mercy – Streaming free for the month of June - Friday - Do the Right Thing Books: - Ta-Nehisi Coates: “We Had 8 Years in Power” - Michelle Alexander: “The New Jim Crow” Resources: - themarshallproject.org - 8cantwait.org - Pod Save the People (Deray Mckesson @deray, Brittany Packnett Cunningham @MsPackyetti, Samuel Sinyangwe @samswey, Clint Smith III @clintsmithIII) - 1619 Project Charities: - ActBlue - blacklivesmatters.org - 8cantwait.org - blacklivesmatters.carrd.co If you are in Southern California and have been arrested while protesting, please go to my website, www.williamsdefense.com or call my office at 657-200-8894 and ask about pro-bono representation.

Episode 45 - Road House
"Pain don't hurt" Or does it? No no, it definitely does not hurt. You know what else doesn't hurt? Doing a deep dive on the 1989 Patrick Swayze classic  Road House.  This film has so much subtley and layers and subtext and philosophical conundrums and...who are we kidding this film is all about kicking ass, monster trucks, explosions and hot women!!  It has everything you would want in a film about a legendary cooler and the bouncers he manages and the sadistic ruler of pretty small town.  We had a blast with this one and hope you enjoy. Penny Marshall’s masterpiece is a perfect blend of sentimentality, action, and a sense of seeing something new.
