In Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun, by Victoria Laurie, Gilley has gone behind M.J.'s back and signed her up for a t.v. show on Bravo about mediums. M.J. grudgingly agrees to go to the "most haunted hotel in America" in San Francisco to participate in what is essentially Antiques Roadshow for haunted possessions. She meets three other mediums: Heath (young, cute, actually a medium), Angelica (aka "Madam Hateful"), and Bernard (just gross). Shit gets real when a knife and a smoke monster start wreaking havoc. Katy forgot to turn her microphone on and profusely apologizes for the crap audio the first 10 minutes of the episode, Frannie has a real issue with calling a hotel that is NOT in San Antonio "the most haunted hotel in America", and we would both like to know whether anyone else would consider seafood as being comfort food. In this episode we start the Ghost Hunters series by Victoria Laurie. M.J. Holliday is a medium who, with her "I'm gonna stay in the van" techie best friend Gil, bust pesky ghosts for a living. When she's hired by smokin' hot Dr. Steven Sable to contact his grandfather to prove he didn't commit suicide and was instead murdered, she soon realizes she may have bitten off more than she can chew. Katy has second thoughts about eating cheesecake off a floor, Frannie felt she solved the suicide-or-murder mystery because of oatmeal, and we both freak out over our fear of haunted houses. In this episode we start our discussion of Crime Seen, by Victoria Laurie. Abby is recovering from being shot in the chest and finds herself struggling through PTSD. Dutch and Milo are preparing to present arguments against release at a parole hearing for the man who confessed to killing Milo's old detective partner. Unfortunately Abby's intuition tells her the man who confessed didn't actually commit the crime and that there is WAY more to the story. Her PI friend Candace moves to Royal Oaks to hang her shingle, Abby gets roped into undercover work at a shady mortgage company, and is the most hilariously terrible liar ever. Katy sympathizes with Abby over sociopathic cats, Frannie is still losing her mind over "The Staircase" owl theory, and we discuss just how dumb guys can be when it comes to birthdays and anniversaries. We're back to finish Killer Insight by Victoria Laurie. Abby's friend's groom-to-be is arrested then escapes from jail and is on the run. Clearly the universe just didn't want this wedding to happen. Abby is still struggling with her feelings for Duffy and her longing for Dutch, and her intuition lets her down in the worst way possible. Katy hates dickwads, Frannie feels strongly about lime tortilla chips, and we get a little emotional over hurricanes. This week we begin our discussion of Killer Insight, by Victoria Laurie. Mercury is in retrograde which means basically everything goes awry. During a disastrous Valentine's Day dinner, Abby breaks it off with Dutch and heads off to Colorado for a childhood friend's wedding. A childhood friend with a now SUPER HOT brother, Duffy. One of the bridesmaids has taken off so Abby takes her place. Unfortunately, Abby realizes the bridesmaid is actually dead but can only tell Duffy, who is the town sheriff. Sleuthing ensues.  Katy took 31 pages of notes but still couldn't remember how the book began, Frannie dislikes all things wedding, and we both agree that Dutch is just about the worst Valentine's Day gift giver ever.
