This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts, have the pleasure of talking to Montreal-based, Stephanie Simpson. Stephanie began running in 2008 as a way to deal with stress when her mother was sick. She started running shorter distances like 5Ks and 10Ks, eventually working her way up to the marathon. She completed her first 50K ultramarathon after the birth of her first child in 2015 and never looked back. She was relatively unknown in the world of ultra running until last October, when she became the Canadian winner of the distributed Big's Backyard in 43 hours to lead Team Canada to a third-place finish.

Ep. #66 - The inspirational journey of Irish Backyard Champion Keith Russell
This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts, have the pleasure of talking to Keith Russell, born and raised outside of Dublin, Ireland. Keith is relatively new to the sport of ultra-running, he's run a sub-3-hour marathon, he came 3rd in the 107-mile Dublin to Belfast in 18hrs, has run 100 miles in just under 16 hours and he recently won the Irish backyard championships completing 63 laps. But the inspiring story is of Keith and Alanna Russell, Alanna was born with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, with no speech or use of her arms or legs. In 2017 she became the youngest person to complete the Dublin Marathon alongside her proud father Keith. Shortly after the race in December Alanna sadly left us, leaving behind a gift that brought a new direction to life for her devoted father Keith.

Ep. #65 - Robbie Balanger did WHAT all summer? 🤯
This week Dave and Joe, Chasing Tomorrow podcast co-show hosts, have the pleasure of talking to Robbie Balenger, known as the vegan ultra-runner. In 2019 Robbie ran 3,175 miles across the US in just 75 days in order to promote the benefits of a plant-based diet. In March 2021, he set a new record for The Central Park loop challenge, where he ran 16 loops smashing the previous record of 11 loops. And he just finished the Colorado Crush (named by Robbie) 63 days, 1,176 miles, 308,981 ft of gain, including the entire Colorado Trail summiting all 58 peaks over 14,000 feet, and finished with the Leadville 100, quite the incredible summer, for sure!

He has many records including the record for the fastest finishes in all six World Marathon Majors (2:31). He has won the US 50 km championship and the JFK 50 miler. Wardian won the Quarantine Backyard Ultra, running nearly 263 miles over the course of 63 hours without sleeping and he holds the record for the fastest 50K treadmill run. All while being an international ship-broker and a father of two. Simply amazing!

Mary is 32 years old from St. Paul, MN. has two elementary age kids and works a full-time job. She claims to be just an average person with big dreams who loves to ride her bike love riding my bike. Just a few weeks ago she completed the 2021 version of the Tour Divide a 2,500-mile mountain bike race that goes from the Canadian border to the Mexico border. When she completed the race on July 7th, she became the 3rd woman to finish the 2021 race in just over 25 days. An amazing accomplishment for sure!

Ailsa is an established trail runner, ultra-runner, road runner, and triathlete. In 2017 she claimed the 50K and 100-mile Canadian National Champion title, in 2018 she won Ironman Canada and in 2019 she won the Pemberton 50K in Arizona overall and set the course record. MacDonald owns multiple course records and two overall wins at the ultrarunning distance. She is a force to be reckoned with.
