131: YOU are the Path to Peace with Brahman Kyrie on Change It Up Radio
Times are challenging for Americans right now. Many of us are wondering if Peace is Possible. We are seeing behavior among our fellow Americans like nothing we have ever seen before. Americans have stormed their own capital in an attempted coup. What is happening? What should we do? How can we help to calm the storm? How can we best take care of ourselves?   In this week’s show, Paula poses these questions to Brahman Kyrie, a spiritual teacher and master healer in Encinitas, California. Brahman Kyrie is also the founder of the Brahman Project, a humanitarian foundation whose purpose is spiritual education, sacred ceremony, meditation, healing, prison rehabilitation programs, and support for animals.   In this episode, Paula explores the problem with focusing on hate and violence, being that this focus becomes a magnet, attracting more of the same. She also talks about the paths followed by Mother Teresa and Gandhi. Both of these amazing beings urged their followers to focus on positive conditions rather than the negative. Mother Teresa is quoted as having said, “if you hold an anti-war rally, I shall not attend. But if you hold a pro-peace rally, invite me.”   Gandhi said, “If you want to change the world, start with yourself.” The point being that even in the confusion of present-day events, our course of action can remain simple and clear…heal yourself. Focus on healing yourself and being the most positive, high vibration being you can be. That vibration will impact the collective consciousness, and in turn, change the world for the better.   In their discussion, Brahman Kyrie and Paula talk about acceptance, forgiveness, and peace, and ways to take your focus off of what you fear and put it somewhere productive. Brahman Kyrie shares some great practices and tools to enable you to do this easily and naturally.   You don’t want to miss this episode of Change It Up Radio. In these turbulent times, we all need an anchor. Paula and Brahman Kyrie offer some very effective options in this show.   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

130: 2021, Here We Come! with Paula Shaw on Change It Up Radio
Join Paula for the first show of 2021 as she shares some of the changes Change It Up Radio is implementing.   First of all, she will be doing the first and last shows of the month solo to enable her to bring to her listeners tools and techniques that she uses with her private clients to change, release, and shift problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.   Secondly, she introduces Paula’s Preferred Professionals which will be launching this quarter. For a crazy small sponsorship fee, these businesses which Paula has personally vetted, will be shouted out each week. They will also be listed on the PPP page on ChangeItUpRadio.com and PaulaShaw.com, as well as on KCBQ’s website, on Paula’s page.   In addition, these businesses will be offered an unheard-of low price to have a professionally-produced commercial created, that will air each week, and which they will own. Since all shows are podcasted, this advertising becomes evergreen. If you are thinking that this sounds like the perfect opportunity for your business or the business of a friend or family member, reach out to Paula today!   Another truly exciting component of this show is that Paula will be introducing the latest Energy Psychology Process that she has created, called Genetic Soul Release. This process helps a person to finally shift and release the energy/behavioral blocks from all of the energetic nooks and crannies, including the Genetics, that are holding them back from creating the life and success that they want.  It is a very exciting process that has evolved out of Paula’s 28 years of work and out of a synthesis of the many Energy Psychology processes in which she has been trained.   Finally, this content-loaded, life-changing show concludes with the discussion of Conscious Completion, a process Paula learned from JJ Joshua, Spiritual Coach. This process enables one to complete segments of one’s life so that there is space for, and openness to, experiencing whatever is to come next. This isn’t possible if one’s thoughts or emotions are stuck in past events. This process is a must for completing 2020 and for doing the same with each day.   Don’t miss this show and all that Paula offers in this inaugural episode of 2021!   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

129: 95 and Still Alive with Jack Gutman on Change It Up Radio
Join Paula for this special holiday show where she interviews her Dad, Jack Gutman, two days before his 95th birthday!   Jack was born in 1925, back when the world was a very different place. People were lucky if they were making $50 a week, and 10 cents could buy way more than it does today. In his 95 years, Jack has seen a lot of things, including the current pandemic, the likes of which hasn't been seen since 1918.   As one of nine children, Jack survived the poverty of growing up in New York City. He went on to participate in the Normandy Invasion... D-Day, the Invasion of Okinawa, and then endured 66 years of PTSD before getting help from the VA. He received 3 years of therapy with Dylan Bender, which enabled him to get his life back and get free from self-destructive, addictive behaviors.   Today, Jack is free of flashbacks, fear, and failure. Living from his current state of gratitude, he has one goal... to encourage anyone suffering from PTSD to get help.   Too tough to be stopped, and no stranger to miracles, Jack suffered a stroke on October 28 of this year, which left him unable to speak. Fortunately, he was taken to the hospital in time to receive a drug known as the clot-buster, and within an hour, normal speech returned.    Yes, he seems to have much in common with a cat who has 9 lives! Jack’s mission today is to touch lives and help others to find peace and joy. He does this through public speaking, comedy, and through his book, One Veteran's Journey to Heal the Wounds of War, available on Amazon.   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

128: Holiday Cheer Got You Down? with Paula Shaw on Change It Up Radio
Join Paula as she addresses the fact that we are a world of holiday grievers this year. We have all suffered the loss of the ability to celebrate the holidays in our usual traditional ways. The COVID-19 Pandemic has made holiday grievers of us all.   This year there will be no holiday parties, holiday shows, caroling, large family gatherings, or large holiday dinners. The hustle and bustle of shopping is gone as well because we have a “Stay at Home” order and can’t go to the malls to garner those special holiday gifts. Loss is everywhere.   Paula discusses how any loss, no matter what the source, usually begins with shock and upheaval producing a very emotional response. This often leads to fear, confusion, anger, lack of focus, sadness, and even depression. She also reminds us that all of this emotionality is exhausting and overwhelming.   Paula goes on to expand on 5 things you can do to take good care of yourself during this holiday season, and encourages everyone to be creative, break out of the mold, and make the holidays a loving, joyful, celebratory time for you and your loved ones. We are always at choice, so choose to make your holidays warm and wonderful.   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

126: Fear Is The Mind Killer with Jennavieve "JJ" Joshua on Change It Up Radio with Paula Shaw
Today we're talking about the mind-killing potential of fear and how we can overcome it so that it no longer runs our life.   Any individual that's experienced fear knows how it can destroy our focus and our ability to think rationally. It has a way of latching onto our minds and our emotions, consuming all of our thoughts, steering us into a particular direction, and even stopping us dead in our tracks at times.   The truth is, fear is not just something that happens in our minds. It can become very physical and very debilitating, and the more we focus on it and feed energy to it, the more it can grow. The last few weeks of my life have created some situations in which I have really known fear firsthand and have experienced its "mind-killing" potential.   From a sudden rat infestation that forced me out of my home to my father having a stroke, my life was in total upheaval and my fear only continued to grow. Thankfully, a dear friend of mine helped me process and move through some of my fearful thoughts in order to shift the situation into a much more positive place. If you are currently experiencing fear in any area of your life, you first need to let go of any shame around it.   If you're feeling stuck or if you're hearing too many negative opinions from those around you, stop listening to those things and remember that your reality has nothing to do with what's happened to other people. You can create it to be the way you want it to be. When we face fear, take action, and move toward it and through it, we can get to the other side of it and take our power back.   Today I’m joined by Jennavieve "JJ" Joshua, an intuitive life coach who combines her real-world experience and rare visioning ability to provide clients with extraordinary insight and practical wisdom. She joins me to share how we can unlock our hidden potential, move from self-sabotage and self-doubt to empowerment, and create greater happiness and a more meaningful and inspired life.   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

125: Ending the Silent Suffering of PTSD with Jack Gutman on Change It Up Radio with Paula Shaw
Today we're talking about healing the painful wounds of war and breaking free from the suffering of post-traumatic stress.   For many people, when they hear the term "Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder," or "PTSD," their minds tend to gravitate toward the image of traumatized soldiers returning home from war after witnessing their comrades being seriously injured and killed. But, PTSD not only impacts the lives of our brave veterans; it can also affect any individual that has witnessed or experienced a traumatic event at some point in their life.   A traumatic event can range from a serious car accident or painful breakup to the terrors of a natural disaster or emotionally devastating childhood trauma. The pain from our past can extend beyond the initial moment or time period of that trauma and follow us around throughout the course of our lives, potentially damaging our relationships and disrupting all of our attempts at living a joyful life.   Unfortunately, many people that suffer from PTSD remain silent about their struggle, which can lead to debilitating anxiety, depression, insomnia, addiction, anger, shame, and self-isolation. While healing the pain and traumas of our past can be extremely difficult, as this requires courage and vulnerability to ask for help, it is possible.   Today I’m joined by my Dad and World War II Veteran, Jack Gutman, who at the age of 18 participated in the Normandy Invasion. He shares his painful recollection of what it was like to prepare, participate, and survive one of the most grueling days in human history, discusses his journey of healing the wounds of war after a 66 year-long struggle with PTSD, and also shares his experience with post-traumatic stress after miraculously surviving a recent stroke.   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

People are filled with fear about how to make their vote count, the possibility of long lines at the polls, and voter tampering, among many other fears.   We are a country filled with division and anger and fear right now and no area shows that better than the current climate of fear and angst that is created by the prospect of voting. 123: A World of Grievers with Paula Shaw on Change It Up Radio
Join Grief Expert Paula Shaw as she explores the grief that is being experienced worldwide as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.   Whether you’ve lost your job, your relationship, your normal routine, a loved one to the virus, or faith that your government will keep you safe, everyone on the planet has been touched by this virus. We are herding mammals who can no longer herd, and this has undoubtedly created high levels of pain and discomfort for all of us.   Paula discusses how loss leads to change, change leads to discomfort, and discomfort manifests as the many faces of grief. Grief can look like sadness and overwhelm. It can look like anger, despair, or defeat. It can show itself as the agitation of anxiety or cause someone to be frozen in fear. Each person experiences grief in their own unique way.   Paula also blows the lid off of the myth that there are 5 stages of grief and explains how they are really the 5 stages of death and dying, which can be very different than grief. Paula believes that rather, there are 7 dimensions or phases that many people go through but not necessarily everyone.   After identifying the problem, Paula will take you through what to do to heal your grief and get back to living your life in the way that you were meant to. She shares some of her favorite tools and processes to help with the healing journey. Don’t miss this show. It will help you to understand and identify your own grief and empower you to heal it and go forward.   Paula was Certified by the Grief Recovery Institute’s Program through Loyola Marymount Univesity as a Grief Recovery Specialist. She has been helping grieving people for over 28 years.   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

122: What Does Real Science Know About the Virus? with Bob Hertz on Change It Up Radio with Paula Shaw
We have all been through eight months of living an altered lifestyle due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools are still struggling to figure out how to teach online. Businesses have been closed or dramatically altered, in order to stay alive.   Medical appointments happen online or in very carefully monitored settings. Shopping is nothing like it once was. Masks are required almost everywhere we go, and no one is given service if the mask requirement isn’t honored.   What in our lives hasn’t been changed or affected by this pandemic? People are so confused and there is so much misinformation being disseminated.   On this show, we get some straight answers from Science. I am talking to Bob Hertz, Director of Psy-Tek Laboratories in Encinitas California. In our discussion, we talk about what we really know about the virus, how it’s transmitted, what it means to be A-symptomatic, how we can best protect ourselves, and how we can get accurate testing.   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

However, she has some strong viewpoints she wants to share about aging, love, COVID-19, and the earth.   All her life, Paula has noticed that when people get older, they seem less concerned about appearances and more concerned with truth and authenticity. They tend to speak their minds without concern for what is PC!   Paula shares some of her secrets and products for staying youthful in spite of her 70 years of going around the sun.   She looks at love and the complicated relationships it can create, and then she talks about how inadequate we will always be at loving relationships until we become really skilled at loving ourselves.   Moving on to COVID-19, Paula looks at some of the gifts of the pandemic and then expresses her strong feelings about masks and the reasons for them.   She wraps it all up with a discussion of global warming, the crisis that exists on the planet, and the need for big commitments and decisive action right now!   If you’re new to Change It Up Radio, you’re in for a treat. 118: Get Crazy or Get Creative! with Brett Hummel and Elizabeth Erwin on Change It Up Radio with Paula Shaw
Join Paula as she interviews creative Entrepreneur, Brett Hummel, the founder of ProMazo and The 100k Mentor Challenge. She will also be talking to Elizabeth Erwin, a student in this much-needed program that serves college students all over the country.   ProMazo started as a student club because Brett noticed that many college students did not have a clear idea of their career choices. He recognized that the best way for students to gain experience and career knowledge was to participate in work experiences prior to graduation.   Brett realized that with work moving more and more to a virtual scenario, (he had no idea how virtual it would become due to the virus!), there was an opportunity to connect the top 5% of people attending university, who had the latest skills and training, with companies who needed those skills, enabling corporate teams to work side by side on a remote basis. And with that, ProMazo was born.   In the wake of the coronavirus, on-campus events were canceled and many internships and job offers were rescinded. These cuts hit students from underrepresented backgrounds especially hard because they rely on these opportunities to build their networks and secure their first jobs since they often do not have personal or family connections to fall back on.   Together in partnership with college students from over a dozen universities, launched the 100k Mentor Challenge movement to connect college students from underrepresented backgrounds with mentors.   The goal of the 100K Mentors Challenge is to connect 100,000 students from underrepresented backgrounds with 100,000 mentors in the businesses that the students aspire to, by the end of the 2021 academic year to help them overcome the loss of on-campus recruiting, professional networks, and internships/full-time jobs.    Join the movement. Be a force for positive social change. Create new pipelines of opportunity. Be the company that translates words into action by signing the Pledge and committing to supporting underrepresented college students. We urge companies to join the movement to help make sure students are not left behind!   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

117: 1 Habit to Beat Fear with Cort Davies on Change It Up Radio with Paula Shaw
Join Paula as she interviews a courageous, compassionate man. Most people let a terminal cancer diagnosis defeat them but this man turned it into a catalyst to turn his life upside down and become the man he was meant to be.   Cort Davies was diagnosed with Malignant Paraganglioma in November of 2017. He was given just three years to live. Instead of folding under the intense stress of having late-stage cancer, Cort set out on a mission to save his own life.   After 9 surgeries, having half of his bladder removed, and almost being paralyzed, Cort realized his biggest challenge was actually his greatest opportunity. He also realized that chronic stress was a major deterrent in healing for millions of sick people, including himself. Cort went on a  mission to find effective ways of dealing with stress. What he found is saving his life, and his doctors can't believe that he can do what he does at this point.   He has recently brought light to this topic of stress and cancer in a Ted X Talk, and launched a book called “1 Habit To Beat Cancer.” Cort is also in the midst of launching a podcast and producing a multi-part documentary to try to impact millions of people around the world by giving them the necessary tools to help them manage stress on their journey to healing.   Don’t miss this show as Cort talks with Paula about the ups and downs of this journey and what life is like for him today.  His three years will be up this November, but Cort is paddle-boarding and bicycling every day with no terrible pain and no plans to slow down. 116: What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do… Riffin' on Stress with Paula
Join Paula as she spontaneously riffs after finding out only an hour before showtime that her guest's hometown was hit by a tornado, so he had no power and was unable to jump online to record with her. Can’t argue with acts of God, so sometimes you just have to improvise!   Paula talks about how to handle the upheaval of unexpected change, stress, and the damage it can do to the body and psyche. Then, she gets into what to do to effectively manage your stress so it doesn’t end up managing you and causing physical illness or psychological/emotional problems. Paula also discusses the 3 kinds of stress and shares processes and techniques for dealing with them.   In her work as a Life Transition Coach, Paula uses the tools of Energy Psychology to help people overcome fear, depression, anger, anxiety, and the myriad of other expressions that come with the upheaval of unexpected change.   These tools bypass the conscious mind which is often rendered useless when emotions overwhelm us. They work directly with the subconscious mind to shift problematic thinking, feelings, and behaviors that can result. Through these methods, it is possible for the client to feel a sense of power and control in their life, in a very short time.   If you are experiencing issues that feel overwhelming and you think that you might need help to overcome them, Paula offers a complimentary 20-minute consult that you can book on her website www.PaulaShaw.com.   Change It Up Radio is Paula’s vehicle for spotlighting Changemakers who are trying to make the world a better place, and for bringing her listeners information to help them deal more smoothly and effectively with change.     To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

115: Have Baggage Will Travel with Erin Shaw
Join Paula as she interviews her daughter, Erin Shaw, author of Have Baggage Will Travel. Erin’s fictional novel is delightfully engaging with great characters and a storyline that winds its way through the South with all the color, flavors, and fragrances that part of the country is so well known for.   The story follows a young woman, Kate Larabee, a leading travel expert on assignment, as she travels through the South, needing new sights and experiences to soothe the hurts and wounds of a recent break-up that replaced the proposal she was expecting. The story is loosely based on Erin’s own experiences traveling through the South after a romantic break-up.   She says that it is really a story of self-discovery and of learning to step into one’s personal power, which too often, only happens when life throws us an unexpected curve-ball and we have no other choice. Many of us have been dragged kicking and screaming into what ended up being a definite up-leveling of our lives.   Erin recently completed a screenplay of her first novel, Party Girl, A Modern Fairy Tale, and is currently shopping it around to movie production companies. She and her writing partner, Kaitlyn McQuin, will begin working on the screenplay of Have Baggage Will Travel very soon.   Erin is also a professional singer and performs with That Vibe. 113: Business Grief… Looking Beyond the Tears with Anthony McIntosh on Change It Up Radio with Paula Shaw
Join Paula Shaw to talk about Business Grief, which she will be discussing with Anthony McIntosh, President and Founder of SSE Advisors LLC, a business advisory and consulting firm.   Paula and Anthony discuss how the dimensions of grief are impacting business today, during the COVID-19 pandemic.   It's tricky times for many businesses, and even those that are surviving are dealing with the loss of the way it used to be. No one knows for sure what the future holds, and for many businesses, this could spell disaster.    One of the most challenging parts of grief is longing for what we had, "how it used to be," and "the reality we once knew." How often these days do you hear people say, "I just want life to get back to normal"?    We want the comfort of the familiar. We want what most of us have known all of our lives. Handshakes, crowded parties, bars, the buzz of many people chatting in a restaurant, seeing a movie we are excited about on a big screen in a theater, and gathering in our places of worship with others.    We are all grieving, and businesses aren't exempt from this reality. Let's step back a minute and talk about GRIEF. Grief is a huge compendium of emotions that can occur when loss has taken place.   The very topic of this show, CHANGE, is a source of grief. For change to occur, loss must also occur. If something new is coming, something old has to get out of the way… that equals loss. And with loss comes pain. Something comfortable and familiar is gone, and the discomfort of the new unknown equals pain. This pandemic has created loss on many levels… School has changed, shopping has changed, grocery stores have changed, restaurants have changed. Coffee shops and bars and other gathering places have changed. There is a lot of loss out there. My guest today, Anthony McIntosh, is a business expert, and we will be talking about the grief being experienced in the business community. We will be discussing many dimensions of business grief.   WE ARE ALL GRIEVERS AT THIS TIME, AND WE HAVE ALL LOST OUR LIVES AS WE KNEW THEM. WE HAVE HAD TO GET QUIET AND STILL AND REALLY LOOK AT A LOT OF THINGS THAT WE WERE AVOIDING BEFORE.   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

112: Change Your Mind...Change Your Life with Dr. Steve Taubman on Change It Up Radio with Paula Shaw
When our lives aren't working the way we want them to, so often we start looking around our outer world for who or what to blame. We try to find the person or circumstance that is causing the turmoil, pain, or lack that we are experiencing.   In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Paula Shaw and guest, Dr. Steve Taubman, discuss the real solution to all of life's problems... going within and changing the way our mind is working.   What is out-picturing in our lives is always a result of the inner picture and beliefs that we are holding. The problem is that usually, those problematic beliefs are subconscious, which means that on a conscious level, we have no idea that we are holding them.   In this riveting discussion, Paula and Steve reveal some important truths about how we can discover the blocks and change the workings of our minds so that we can consciously create what we want in our lives instead of what we don’t want.   To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com
