Polish My Pitch Podcast episode forty nine with Sean Sheppard, Managing Partner
Thank you for joining us for another amazing episode of Polish My Pitch! Today’s lucky guest is Sean Sheppard, Managing Partner at U+. I really enjoyed helping Sean polish his elevator pitch. Sean is already so successful, he can get away with not polishing but, like I always say, “…the most successful people I meet are the ones interested in more feedback.”   I suggested Sean adapt his elevator pitch to a line-liner hook. Refining his pitch to be more focused and niche will help him target a specific industry with more precision. Working with Financial Services as an example, I asked Sean what the most expensive problem is that he solves.   Finally, we added a pain stat to help illustrate the pain point he identified for his target market. For example, “95% of innovations fail in the first 3 years.” I coached Sean to fine-tune his one-liner to include the cost of his target market’s problem.  One further way for Sean to polish his pitch is to add a dollar value or cost for his customers if their problem remains unsolved.         If you thought what Sean went through was a great experience, complete the application to be my next guest. Polish My Pitch Podcast episode forty eight with Angela Proffitt, CEO
In today’s episode, I met with Angela Proffitt and polished her elevator pitch. Angela’s pitch was really good, she talked about her customer’s pain, she had a specific target market, and she included a call to action. I suggested that she could tighten her pitch by talking about the actual cost of the ‘pain’, “…if there’s no pain, there’s no sale.”     Angela included four ‘P’s in her pitch; people, processes, productivity and profit. I challenged her to pick one ‘P’ to highlight in her pitch. We worked together to drill-down on which ‘P’ was most potentially the most expensive for her clients not to solve.    One-piece missing from Angela’s pitch was targeting a specific industry or super niche. I explained why it’s so important to position your expertise. I asked her to identify the measure of productivity for her chosen industry.    Finally, we worked on an elevator pitch for her to pivot and scale. I reworked her elevator pitch for her as an example of how choosing a specific industry can create a simple, fine-tuned and laser-focused elevator pitch that works.  If you thought what Angela went through was a great experience, complete the application to be my next guest. Polish My Pitch Podcast episode forty seven with Tierra Bonds, Owner
Hear me polish Tierra Bonds’s elevator pitch. I loved that Tierra’s pitch was brief, like I always say, “The less time it takes to say what you do, the more money you make.”  I suggested Tierra get more specific about who she helps. I asked her to identify some interest or industry groups to target. For example, students, retirees, new moms, etc. I also explained my process for creating a strategy to identify customer groups and their pains.     I asked Tierra to give me an example of one of the customers she helps. She identified healthcare workers and, later in our conversation entrepreneurs. I worked with her to narrow down the biggest problem is that she solves, and her target market.    Finally, I suggested that she add a statistic to demonstrate the core benefit of her services. If you thought what Tierra went through was a great experience, complete the application to be my next guest. Polish My Pitch Podcast episode forty six with Josh Perry, Founder
Today, I met Josh Perry and polished his elevator pitch. Josh’s pitch was very brief so I suggested that we dive deeper into a defined niche, in particular an industry he’s targeting. The reason why I make people pick a well-defined industry is because a pitch is your starting point, the tip of the iceberg of your whole marketing strategy. People only self-gather in large numbers by industry or interest. They don’t self-gather by mindset or how much money they make.  Pick one industry to target. Next, I asked Josh what the costliest problem is that he solves for his target group. I asked him some questions to drill down to the exact pain that his customer’s need solved.  Finally, I suggested Josh finish his pitch by stating how he helps solve his target markets pains and I demonstrated how statistics can show his audience exactly who he works with and the exact problem he solves for them.   If you thought what Josh went through was a great experience, complete the application to be my next guest. Polish My Pitch Podcast episode forty five with Shannon Procise, President
Join me today as we welcome Shannon Procise and polished her elevator pitch. I loved that Shannon’s pitch was very concise.  I suggested that she start her pitch with a customer pain. I asked her to pinpoint one industry that she works with the most. We then drilled into the number one most expensive problem that her services solve. We discussed what happens when her target market isn’t able to have their pain solved, in Shannon’s case, saving her clients time and money. Finally, I demonstrated how adding a metric can help illustrate the true value of her service. For example, 80% of coaches can’t grow their business because they can’t get speaking engagements how I help is to get them media placements.    If you thought what Shannon went through was a great experience, complete the application to be my next guest.
