In The Caps Corner, CT (@CapsCast) and Chris (@TheCrizz76) look at Martin Erat's and Dimitry Orlov's trade demands. They talk about the relationship and possible communication breakdowns between George McPhee and Adam Oates. They also look at the Caps' games this week and how Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom are carrying this team. In Around The League, they look at the ex-NHL players concussion lawsuit and Tortorella and Vigneault facing each other for the first time since the two traded places and coasts for the Rangers and Canucks. In the Bears Den, they check in on a very mediocre Bears team. Hershey is 7-7-2-2 and can't seem to win in any kind of consistent way.

In Around The League, they look at Bryzgalov landing in Edmonton, Claude Giroux finally scoring a goal, and the Panthers firing their coaching staff. In The Bears Den the boys look at the Bears recent games including a 10 round shootout vs. Bridgeport. Hershey continues to struggle and will be lucky to make the playoffs at this point.

Episode 26: Bring On The Rangers! The Washington Capitals are going to face the New York Rangers in the 1st Round of the NHL Playoffs. In 'The Caps Corner,' we revisit the last 3 regular season games, individual Capital's players, and take a deeper look at the Rangers team strengths and weaknesses. We talk about Michal Neuvirth's new contract for 2 years, 5 million dollars. A very odd move for GMGM, as Neuvirth (the back up) making 1.3 million more than Holtby (the starter.) In the 'Around The League' segment, we talk about Martin St. Louis winning the Art Ross Trophy despite being 38 years old, 5'8", and playing for a bad team. We break down the Western Conference match ups and talk about Don Cherry's statement about female reporters in NHL locker rooms. In 'The Bears Den,' we look the 8th seeded Bears winning game 1 handily against the 1st seed Providence Bruins, who going into the playoffs were the odds on favorite to win The Calder Cup.

Episode 25: Possible Playoff Scenarios
In 'The Caps Corner' segment, we talk about the 8 game winning streak coming to an end. It was a great run and it was needed. We take a look at the previous week's games and the last 3 games the Capitals have in the regular season. Winnipeg, Ottawa, and Boston. We look into the possible playoff scenarios. If they win the Southeast, they will most likely draw the Islanders, Leafs, or the Senators. In the 'Around The League' segment, we check up on the Hart Trophy race. We also see which teams are in and which ones are out of the playoffs. We also see who the front runners for the made up 'Gilles Morotte Trophy' (The player with the most shots on goal without actually scoring.) In 'The Bears Den' we talk about Hershey taking it to the final game of the regular season to clinch the 8th seed in the AHL playoffs. They will face the number one seeded Providence Bruins in the 1st round (best of 5) of the playoffs.

That (Playoff) Ship Has Sailed In 'The Caps Corner' we go over The last four games. The Capitals haven't played well and, unless they go on a serious winning streak, will not make the playoffs. We go over Craig Simpson's comments on Ovechkin and Ovechkin getting 700 points in 579 games. Did we, as fans, expect too much from this Capitals team or have they just underperformed? Was this season a sneaky rebuild year that went largley unnoticed? In 'Around The League' we talk about the NHL approved realignment and how the wild cards are going to work. KHL president Alexander Medvedev, compared NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to an arsonist for disputing NHL players being involved in the Winter Olympics. Ex Cap and Bear David Steckel and coach Bruce Boudreau have reunited in Anaheim when Steckel was traded from Toronto. In 'The Bears Den' we talk about The game vs Binghamton and Bridgeport. We also talk about a couple of trades and our first impressions of the new Bears players, Chay Genoway and Nicolas Deschamps.

Fehr and Brouwer have accounted for 7 of the 15 goals The Capitals have scored during the win streak. We talk Holtby vs Neuvirth and who will win out as the true #1 netminder. The next 3 games, NYR, NJ, NJ will be a good measure of how much The Capitals have improved. We talk overachievers and underachievers on the team so far this season.
