BASED ON TRUE STORY: Snowtown & Nitram
On today's episode we talk about 2 true crime movies based on real life tragedies in Austraila. Both films are directed by Justin Kurzel.  1st we we look at the Justin's feature film debut Snowtown which tells the story of Austraila's most infamous serial murders, the Snowtown Murders or as its known in Snowtown, the bodies in barrels. John Bunting led a crew of murderers and killed people who deemed to be homosexuals or pedophiles, and would often touture them and then kill them. Snowtown chronicles the journey of the youngest member of the group, Jamie and details how he got invloved with Bunting and his group of vigilantes.    The 2nd movie on our docket is Nitram, which is based on Martin Byrant who commited a mass shooting at Port Arthur in Tasmania, Australia. We talk about about how these movies deal with real life tragedies and how they are done in a way that spark conversations rather then be expliotive. This epsiode gets heavy, because we get into the nitty gritty with these films and the themes these films are trying to convey.    Here are the artcles that we use for references Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowtown_murders Ranker https://www.ranker.com/list/snowtown-murders-facts/laura-allan Medium https://medium.com/crimebeat/bodies-in-the-barrels-the-snowtown-murders-e8bc0571ccf4 Roger Ebert https://www.rogerebert.com/interviews/justin-kurzel-caleb-landry-jones-nitram-interview-2022 Indiewire https://www.indiewire.com/2022/03/nitram-review-1234712786/ Slash https://www.slashfilm.com/811464/nitram-director-justin-kurzel-explains-how-australia-influences-him-as-a-filmmaker-interview/   Oxygen https://www.oxygen.com/martinis-murder/true-crime-story-behind-snowtown-australias-most-brutal-horror-movie   Slant https://www.slantmagazine.com/film/caleb-landry-jones-justin-kurzel-nitram-interview/   You can now follow us on Instagram @bumpinthenightpodcast1428 @elybens @johnnyzuko   you can now follow Johnny Zuko on TikTok @dbmjohnnyzuko & @zukoscorner

Scream 4: WORLDSTAR!!!!!
By the time you get to 4, you gotta ask yourself how do reinvent the wheel? you don't. what you do is remake it, reboot it, retool it, and repeat. Scream 4 came out in 2011 to very underwhelming fan fare. The mid to late 2000's remakes were all the craze. Studios were jumping on older properties just for quick cash grab. Scream 4 however forumlic, managed to do add something to this film, vlogging. In 2009 a film by the name of Laid to Rest directed by Robert Hall (R.I.P.) had a killer in a chrome mask fliming his murders and keeping them as trophies. 2 yrs. later Scream 4 takes the concept and pushes it to not only fliming the murders, but getting famous of them. Scream 4 was ahead of it time with its commentary. you can get rich and famous by going viral back in 2011 that was ridcilous. But conserding that fact that Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jespen, and Shawn Mendes were all discovered via YouTube adds a whole another layer to this film. Scream 4 was just 3 too early, had this film came out in 2013-2014 this film would go down as one the all time greats and Wes Craven would've gone out on top his game proving once and for all that he is the Greatest Of All TIme.    Outro Muisc Ida Maria - Bad Karma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NevmJ2uZ-rQ   You can follow us on Instagram @bumpinthenightpodcast1428 @elybens @johnnyzuko

Scream 3: Casting couch culture and the movie that never was.
The problem with trilogies most of the time is that there an after thought. which is the case in this movie along with the killer's reveal and motivation. This movie doesn't work for that one reason, it is a groan and completely feels like an unnecessary twist just for the sake of having a twist. With Wes Craven returning to the directors seat but no Kevin Williamson, a new comer by the name of Ethan Kruger steps in and takes the reigns as the new screenwritter. They say hindsight is 20/20 and looking at this film after the me too movement and the speaking out movement, the stuff they were talking about powerful men in Hollywood turned out to be ture. Scream 3's, original idea touched on kids recreating the 1st movie murder which would've been occurasted by Stu Mercer from prison but a real life  traegdy derailed that movie which waa turned into a series called the Following staring Kevin Bacon in 2013, Columbine would forever change the entertainment industry, leading to massive rewrites, reshoots, and less blood and guts. Scream 3 is the tamest of the franchise.  Seeing this movie with 2021 eyes really hits differently then it did in '99   Intro music  Fuel - Sunburn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6zf3dW2t9Q   Outro music Godsmack - Timebomb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lvbFLqKbPs   you can follow us on Instagram @bumpinthenightpodcast1428 @elybens @johnnyzuko

Scream 2: The sequel of all sequels??? with Anjow
What is it about sequels? why do they suck? why do they try to hard? well, we dont the answers but we do have our opinons but well letes just say we all very on this topic. Scream 2 is consider to be one the premiere sequels of all time. Zuko and Ginger Snap are join by a avid fan who makes the arugment that Scream 2 is the Godfather 2 of all horro sequels, sequels in general. Scream 2 not only raises the stakes but murders a popular character, which upsetted alot of fans but in hindshight it was the right move because its sets the tone of danger and reminds the audience to be on there toes for the reminder of the movie. DO SEQUELS SUCK??? YES BUT DOES THIS ONE??? Well tune in to find out.    You can follow Anjow on twitter and on instagram Twitter @TheAnjow Instagram @TheAnjow   you can watch his show Midnight at the Spaghetti Factory on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWVwBLP8PMVOhQ8cp3sOqdg   Intro music Master P & Silkk the Shocker - Scream https://youtu.be/i3jH2dwU06c   Outro Music Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Right Place Wrong Time https://youtu.be/Of2xV6xWRus   you can follow us on Instagram @bumpinthenightpodcast1428 @elybens @johnnyzuko

Scream: The movie that changed the game.
Well, it's finally here!!! we promised you back in August that we were gonna do a a series on the popular franchise Scream. Today we look at that film that changed the game and very well changed the gerne for better or for worse. The iconic voice and mask makes this slasher more noteable then his predecessors (Freddy, Jason, Myers). Distinct in the way he plays games with his victims and pinche for violence. This killer is for real. Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven a movie so terrifying, so revolutionary and so real that studios have been trying to crack the forumla ever since.  The big question in this episode is Did scream ruin horror movies? tune in to hear our thoughts.   Intro music Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand https://youtu.be/RrxePKps87k     Outro Music Gus Black - Don't Fear the Reaper https://youtu.be/27k5_j_xtN8   you can follow us on Instagram @bumpinthenightpodcast1428 @elybens @johnnyzuko
