Episode 69. Reading the ritual?
In episode 69, the Brought to Light team consider one of the hot topics in Freemasonry – reading the ritual. Should we support the growing trend of performing our ancient ceremony with a book in hand? Join your Hosts WBro Jack Aquilina, WBro Robert Billing, Brother David Illingworth and Brother Jay Rottem as they share their views and break down the elements of this very important discussion about one of the most important aspects of the masonic experience. The Brethren were also very lucky to be joined by guest host, Brother Tommy Ioannou who is Senior Warden of the Brunswick United Lodge 924. Does the modern man have not time to memorise the words that were once passed mouth-to-ear down generations? Or is the challenge and achievement of learning and understanding our ceremonies exactly what a developing Freemason wants? This episode was recorded in early October 2020, before the announcement of the upcoming Victorian Lodge of Research Great Debate on this very topic. We hope the Victorian Lodge of Research debate has as much fun that we had discussing this topic.
