What Mental Health and Entrepreneurship Have In Common
This month we are going to be talking A LOT about our mental health…why? Because we should be anyway, but also because May is Maternal Mental Health Month. If you’ve listened to the show you know that we have an entire mental health segment on our full length episodes, and I am a strong believer in working hard to start and keep the conversation going around mental health, alway. And, believe it or not, mental health and entrepreneurship actually impact each other more than we realize. So, today we are going to talk about it! Yes, these episodes are business focused, but let me tell you… if your mental health isn’t in a good place, your business won’t be either! The Connection- Think about the times in your life when you’re feeling like a total badass…. I’ll give you a second (I get it, it can be hard to give ourselves credit sometimes)... Now when you think of these times, you’re probably feeling in your flow. Creatively, with productivity, your mindset is in a place of gratitude… and when all of these things are on point, you’re in a great place to receive growth, opportunity, and money coming in from your business. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve become a little more woo these days, but I’m telling ya’, this stuff is important! On the other end of this, think about the times where you’re feeling like a total piece of garbage (personal)... even if you're showing up and doing all of the things, when you’re feeling down and life is really hard, you can work work work, but business is also going to feel really hard. And I can sit here and tell you this because I KNOW THIS. FOR A FACT. FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE! And it is FRUSTRATING! So, if your mental health is so directly attached to the health of your business, what can you do to help it? Because you know it, I know it, even your dog knows it… it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows around here all the time, no matter how hard we try. There WILL be times where we are struggling in the mental health department, and we don’t want our business to go down with us in those moments. Here’s what I’ve found to help keep things afloat when my mental health needs a life raft: Implement Routines Plan Your Schedule Organization Limit Screen Time Find Supportive Community Embrace Vulnerability This is such a big topic, and I want you to know that if you are suffering, you are not alone. If you need a safe space and a listening ear, send me a message. I’m here for you! Business is hard, and when things don’t go as planned the hits can feel devastating, but I see you.
