Winter Driving Tips
Everybody says the same things over and over. Be ready - Have a winter kit, get snow tires, yada yada, yada. but I’m going to be different. I’m going to tell you some tips that others dont. The link to the National Safety Council below tells you some similar things I am and its the best link out of the 3. NSC”s tips Check weather Prepare Know How to Avoid a crash Dont forget these RYAN’S TIPS Pretrip, Pretrip, Pretrip! More important than any other time of the year!!!! Ignition -start your vehicle and let it warm up 10-15 minutes before driving. Longer in colder weather. Brakes -Make sure they arent frozen, fluid leaks(car), air leaks(truck), etc Have a cell phone Wiring - No broken, loose or worn insulation Hoses and fan belts - Are they tight? Not worn or tearing. Air, fuel and emissions filters - Diesel filters are notorius for freezing in cold weather. Trucks your DEF tank has a heater because you cant add any antifreeze to DEF. Use diesel treat in diesel fuel even if it’s only near freezing temps. Improves engine performance. Batteries - No corrosion on terminals Tire wear and air pressure - Over/under inflated tires can cause serious problems with traction. Antifreeze level and freeze line - Are you running the proper type of coolant for the weather? Windsheild fluid - Is it the subzero kind? If you dont have any you can add rubbing alcohol to it. Emergency kit - Including a change of clothes and food/water. Check the weather and traffic conditions Have a damn CB radio and turn it on! Use a traffic app on your phone. Waze, Google Maps, etc Dont use your defroster! Keep the heat on the floor. Roll windows down about 1⁄4 of the way. Keep your coat on and wear gloves. Keep your wipers moving. The friction helps them to not freeze up. If they start bouncing then turn them on delay. Drivng while it is snowing Know the kind of snow you are in. Dry powder at lower temps (teens to minus 0F) are the best. Lots of traction. Wet sloppy slush near 32F sucks the most. Unless you have alot of weight. Wet snow below 20F is ok but sucks because road salt doesnt work as well at those temps. During the day is all right with the sun but after dark watch out because packed snow turns to ice. The key to driving in snow and ice is to maintain a constant momentum. Especially if the snow is geeting deep. Any sudden change in speed of any axle can cause a slide. That is how a jackknife happens. Speed is absolutely important. Too much and you will slide, too little you are stuck and a sitting duck for the person behind you. Start and stop slowly Keep extra following distance Keep your wheels moving. Even at a slow crawl. Dont stop otherwise you might not get going again. Stay off the brakes!** DONT TAP THEM JUST TO SEE IF IT’S ICY!!** Dont tap the brakes on a bridge, overpass or if you see ice or going through a drift. Dont use the cruise control. Use engine brake sparingly. In a truck or with a trailer react the opposite of what you would do without one, Dont turn into the slide. The idea is to keep as much of the truck under the trailer to keep the weight on the drive tires. Most of the time you can come out of jackknife by simply taking your foot off the brake and accelerating. But not too much otherwise you could increase the speed of the jackknife. If you see spray, you’re ok! But still use extreme caution. If you do wipe out stay in your vehicle unless it is neccessary to get out. Watch for other traffic to wipe out where you just did. Do not attempt to push yoursef out. Get help LINKS AAA US News National Safety Council

Ok I think I’ve found a home for my social media. You know I gave up on social media and went searching for something different. I tried Freindi.ca, Gab, and diaspora. Then I heard about Minds on Free Domain Radio. It’s apparently been around awhile and I cant believe I’d never heard of it. As of this recording I’ve been on it for about 3 days and I cant seem to stop checking in on it. Its frickin cool as hell! Its damn near like Facebook but way more cool! I can actually be me and nobody cares. I’ve even found a shit ton of people who think like I do. Not like on Facebook where I wonder who’ going to be the one to tell me that my opinion is wrong. Somebody can disagree with me and we move on. So simple of a concept. Who knew! They have some crypto currency thing that pays you for being on the site and interacting with people. I havent figured out that whole crypto currency thing yet. Hell I still dont understand bit coin! You can post videos (up to 15 min) Write blog posts, create and join groups, etc. It’s just fricking awesome! Incidently you can join me at Minds As of this recording I’ve already got 50 subscribers. So come on over, sign up and get to socializing with real people without having a bunch of tracking and shadow banning! Let freedom ring! So sorry for this to be so late. I totally forgot to record this. I remembered as I was posting to Minds and figured I had better do it. Trucking Vocabulary Basically two types of trucks Conventional - A truck with the engine mounted in front of the cab. Has a nose Cabover - A truck with the engine mounted between the frame rails and under the cab. Manufacturers These are the class 8 tractor/trailer makers. 1. Peterbuilt - Pete, Petercar 2. Freightliner - Freightshaker 3. Kenworth - Kwhopper 4. International - 13 letter shit spreader, corn binder 5. Mack - Bulldog 6. Ford/Sterling 7. Western Star Types of Trucks Kind of confusing because a “truck” is known by it’s trailer. Freight hauler, Dry Box, Van - regular dry van. Typically 53’ long. Occasionally see a 48’ Also some are called soft sides which are trailers with tarps for sides but still has the typical hard roof, nose and doors on the rear of the trailer. Reefer/Refrigerated - A refrigerated trailer for hauling fresh/frozen food or special chemicals. No trailer that has ever hauled hazmat can ever haul food. Temp ranges from -20F to 70F Flatbed/Skateboard - A trailer with no solid walls that require straps and/or chains to secure the load to the deck. Most often needs tarps to cover the freight. A flat bed may also have a “tarp system” which consists of aluminum frame with a tarp attached to the frame. There are also a type of tarp system that has a portable plywood sidewall sections that have a tarp stretched over the top of the freight. These are referred to as covered wagons because they resemble the covered wagons of the old west. Dumps . End dump - A open roof trailer that lifts up and dumps the load out of a tailgate at the rear of the trailer. Typically used in construction for dirt, gravel, rocks, etcBelly dump/Hopper bottom - A trailer that has a dump underneath the frame. Most used for grain. Combo - A trailer that can dump from the rear or the bottom. 5. Tanker/Thermos Bottle - A trailer that hauls liquid. Food Grade - Milk, Cream, Syrup, Water, etc Hazmat - Gasoline, Oil, LP, Nitrogen, etc 6. Livestock/Bull Racks - A trailer for hauling live animals such as cattle, hogs, lamb, etc. Doesnt really matter what’s in it. It’s still called a Bullrack. 7. Car Hauler/Parkin’ Lot - Just what it sounds like. A trailer made for hauling cars. 8. Pups/Wiggle Wagon - Double/triple trailers Most Used CB Lingo Bear/Smokey Bear - A police officer. Several different types. ● Full Grown Bear - A state trooper ● City Kitty - Local city cop. ● County Mounty - Sheriff deputy ● Diesel Bear/DOT - Typically a state trooper that is on the “Commercial Vehichle Enforcement” force. Some state such as Michigan all state troopers are DOT certified. Many “city kitties” and “county mounties” need to have federal DOT certification to do inspections on a tractor/trailer. But they can still give you tickets for traffic violations. Most will not ever bother a truck unless he did something really, really stupid or the town is well known for hitting trucks hard. Also known as revenue enhancement towns. ● Weigh Master - Typically a large city or county officer that is for Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. They like to hide out on the county roads and in industrial parks and tend to pick on mostly local trucks. ● Evil Knievel - Motorcycle cop Disco lights - Bright flashing strobes on police and fire/rescue vehicles. Meat Wagon - Ambulance Electric Indian - Digital arrow sign Lot Lizard - Female prostitute Commercial Buffalo - Male prostitute Hammer Lane - Left lane Granny Lane - Right lane Lane number “” - Typically 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Lanes are numbered as you see them from the driver’s perspective. Ie Lane 1 is the left lane, the next lane to the right is 2, the next to the right of that is 3, etc.Center Lane Sissy - Someone who drives in the center lane, typically in a large city, under the posted speed limit. Get off ramp - exit ramp Get on ramp - entrance ramp Yardstick - Mile marker Brake check - Traffic comes to a fast stop. Chicken house/Chicken Coupe/Scale - Weigh station. Named because back in the old days they looked like large chicken coupe. Checking the ground pressure - The scale is just rolling you through with no inspections. Big Word is Out - Scale is closed Little Word is Out - The scale is open Chicken Loose On Scale Extremely Dangerous - The scale is C.L.O.S.E.D. Cop Left Our Scale Eating Doughnuts - The same thing as above. Oh Please Enter Now - The scale is O.P.E.N. Chicken Truck/Chicken Hauler - A truck and trailer with lots of yellow marker lights all over. Big Truck - Nowada

No iheartradio for me! But there is diaspora and Protonmail! So I had a friend ask me the other day if I could get the podcast up on iheart radio. And to be honest I did actually think about it. So I started exploring the possibilty. The last I knew you had have an unheard of number of listeners ie several thousands before they would even look at you. Looks like they did lower their expectations and lost that section of requirements. Now they dont have any listener levels. So I got a little excited and started digging into the signup process then ran across this this. If you read through that destubatuib/content requirement agreement you basically give the ok for them to make a bunch of money of your content that they dont have to share back with you. And you let them use your artwork and content in their advertising for them. And you allow them to chop up/edit your content. Something you worked hard to create and they use it as there product. So its basically more of the same. Big company uses individuals as a product to sell to advertisers. Just like Facebook, Twitter and Google. Which brings me to the next part. I have moved to diaspora and Protonmail I’ve found a home on diaspora! You can join me at this linklink! I may end up on Mastadon and Friendi.ca by the end of the weej as well. I’m really liking this whole decentrialised social network thing. It seems super safe and nice not having my ass tracked all over the intenet and having ads shoved in my face from other sites that I’m not even on anymore. I also have a new email. It’s in the footer of the site but its on Protonmail. Which is secure email on servers in Switzerland, so take that NSA! (I still want my backups you guys made, illegally). Anyways, the email is encrypted and was created by the nerds behind CERN! Thats just frickin cool in my book. Just do yourself a favor and check it out. They have a free version so you can try it. But even my Boneheadedness could see the value in it right off the bat and I did a paid version. As of right now bontheadmedia.com is down and I am just going to turn it into a landing page to offer some cheap services for podcasting and audio stuff. Now I wanna rock out! I also actually did something I have told myself to do for many months now. I went and checked out ccMixter. I havent put any of my music up there yet but I am planning on it. I will I promise. But I did find that there is a sister site called digccMixter and it is for royalty free music for games, videos, podcasts, etc. So I made the mistake of listening to some tunes. And I cant seem to stop jamming out to them today. So I’m gonna play them for you. Giving Up Social Media
In this episode I’m going to tell you why I gave up social media and you might want to at least think about doing it as well. Now I just want to preface this by saying that the reasons why may not be what you think. Especially if you think it was all because of the overarching dominice of progressive, socialism even borderline fascist amount of hatred on social media. I will admit that is part of it but not as much as you would assume. And it’s not because I’m constantly getting hit on by these sexy women that look like models that want to be my friends on Facebook or do private messages on Twitter. I don’t need to have them to remind me that I am the best looking thing on 18 wheels. Because I already know that. Most of the reason I’ve given up on it is coming from my own side of the political spectrum. So let’s start from the beginning shall we? Once upon a time… I might be getting up there in my years. According to my 14 yr old daughter I’m getting close to the time of hospice care. But I can remember the time before the internet. Before Google, Facebook, hell even before MySpace! I remember having friends that I would go and actually be in the same room with and talking without a phone staring me in the face. We actually interacted with each other. We laughed, pulled pranks, went cruising, played music. Since the advent of the internet and social media the world is supposed to be more closer than ever but we are in actuality more separated than ever. It has allowed a certain small percentage of the population to create the appearance that that small percentage is the majority. Some say that it is really the majority of opinion. But I tend to not believe that. We all know that just because you read it on the internet it must be true. Right? But after travelling the country, talking with people not on the internet, overhearing conversations on the cb and just observing people as they go about their daily lives I’ve come to realize that we, as humans, are completely different in real life compared to our online alter egos. Some of us are the same. Like myself and some other podcasters/bloggers. But for the most part people seem to pretend that they are someone else online not like they are posing as someone else but rather they tend to be different online. Almost like they change personalities. I don’t know what it is. Maybe mental illness is more common than we know. Maybe everyone needs medication. Or maybe people feel like they can let their guard down online and just say anything they wouldn’t say in real life. Maybe people think this is what they are supposed to do online and they don’t realize their are real people on their that is reading, watching or listening to what they are saying. But, again I tend to believe that it is not real. I personally know of lots of internet marketers that start websites to sell products. Many of those websites are not related to each other in any way. But they are all run by the same person. They can be running 15-20 websites a week, driving traffic, selling products, getting paid advertising. Some of them are so ironic it makes me literally laugh. For example, a blog about how socialism is the perfect solution for the US and calling for the banishment of capitalism. And yet it’s selling advertisements with Google Ads and ever selling a couple of dvd’s or paid subscriptions for a podcast. Oh the irony of an anti-capitalistic website using capitalism to fund itself. And they cant even see their own hypocrisy. For example Mark Zuckerburg, founder of Facebook. Flaming heart, dyed in the wool democrat/socialist. A multi billionaire capitalist because of…socialism? Nope. Moving On I have actual real life friends on Facebook. They think they are super smart when it comes to politics. They are surprised when they find out that I’m a registered Republican. They always ask why? Because it doesn’t matter what you call yourself on paper. It’s who you cast your vote for and why. I firmly believe that you never vote against a candidate. You vote for someone that best matches your personal values. One of my very close friends was surprised that since I’m a Libertarian that I wasn’t a Bernie Sanders supporter. I honestly think this friend has abandoned me because I pointed out to him that if you call yourself a Libertarian and support a socialist like Sanders you were lying about being a Libertarian. Libertarians believe in less government and Socialists believe in more. Libertarians are fairly simple to understand. Dont touch my stuff Dont touch my money Leave me alone It’s a pretty simple philosophy. Not hard to figure out that you would not support an avowed socialist, ever! I also have other friends who say they are Libertarians but are actually Anarchists. It would be awesome if people would take some time to learn the definitions of words before actually using them. But these people are only a small part of why I’m giving up on social media. The ones that are making me give it up are actually on my side of the political spectrum. I Hate Stupidity and Hypocrisy Ever since Facebook and Twitter got caught ghosting post of Conservatives there has been a constant uproar on about it. They rant and rave. They dominate talk radio and right leaning podcasts and blogs. Decrying about how Apple, Facebook, Twitter and all these big companies are censoring their speech ala Alex Jones. They scream it’s not constitutional. Is it? Did Apple censor Alex Jones by removing him from itunes? Yes. Was it against the Constitution? No. Here’s the reason that everybody keeps missing on this subject. The United States Constitution is not a document that states what the government can do for its legal citizens. It states, rather simply what the government CAN NOT DO! I have to point this out constantly because I really don’t think there is but a handful of people including Senators and Reps who have actually read the damn thing. The first amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Tell me where in there do you read that a business such as itunes, media hosting or even the press has to allow you to have a voice? I am sick of hearing my friends, on my own side, scream about Twitter and Facebook ghosting their posts. “They are discriminating against us”! And I agree, they are! But it’s not illegal! That first amendment keeps the government off the peoples backs. People are free to do or say what they want. Even if you don’t like what someone says. We have that right. Along with that right comes the right not to listen to those you don’t want to. Here is what I don’t understand. These people are all self avowed capitalists. Right? So why hasnt at least one of them gotten the idea to create a Conservative version of Facebook or Twitter? Call it Consevbook or whatever. A social media site that is biased towards Conservative values. Are they afraid they cant compete with Facebook and Twitter? Maybe came a little too late to the game? Probably but this is America and an individual can do whatever they want to do with their life. Maybe, maybe someone with some coding chops could just take something from this list and run with it! When did Conservatives and Libertarians stop being the doers and start being the winners of the world? I mean seriously just STOP! If you want to be true to yourself and your beliefs you will stop bitching about Facebook and Twitter while on Facebook and Twitter. Just get off of social media that is run by your opposition and quit expecting them to cater to you. We all griped about the baker that refused to bake a cake for a gay couple and complained about how it was against his rights to be punished for adhering to his right to practice his religion. Just as the gay couple had no right to his services you have no right to the services offered by Apple, Facebook or Twitter. Oh, there’s that damn hypocrisy thing again. Only it’s on my side. So I’ve put my money where my mouth is. I’m not even going to bother login into these social media sites to delete my accounts. I will keep the Twitter that I set up for this show but that is the only social media I will maintain. Unless I am asked to run one for a client I will never do social media again. Not because of the opposition but because of my own side. What about you? Are you going to put your money where your mouth is or are you going to continue to be a hypocrite?

5 Dangerous Things
Today I talk about 5 things people do in a car around big trucks that can end up with deadly consequences. And no thats not a click bait headline. These things are very important to not do! You can find me on Spotify now and I’ve got a new Twitter just for the podcast!. I will no longer do any social media other than this Twitter account for the podcast. Dont pull in front of a truck only to make a left turn Dont Slow down to pass/speed up when being passed. Maintain your speed. Dont Pass only to slow down in front/pace truck from the front/”keep that driver from speeding” Dont Tailgate. You are essentially driving with a blindfold on. Dont Pass on right while a truck is turning right. We can not see you and will run over you! Bonus Doing things other than driving. We can see EVERYTHING in your car. Rebranding the Podcast
Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes The one thing in life that stays constant other than death and taxes is changes. And I’m about to tell you about my changes and why. I switched my both my podcast media hosting and my website hosting. They are now combined with Simplecast. Why? Because I could cut my total hosting costs in half!! Along with the cost cutting I’m taking this opportunity to rebrand the podcast. Why? I’ll go into it in the first segment I took a vacation from social media and am considering not coming back. Why? I’ll tell you about it in the second segment. And finally I’m going to tell you what I think the podcasting industry’s biggest problem is. Episode 037 of The Bonehead Mediacast starts now. The Rebranding So for the last couple of months I’ve been looking at ways to save some money and time in order to keep producing the shows. I’ve also been feeling a huge inspiration to produce more of my own music as well. Then I was unfortunately reintroduced to Reaper DAW by Cockos Inc. I say unfortunately because I got sucked in as you have already heard in previous episodes with me playing a couple of my own songs. But then I found out that they have a radio station that plays music produced only in Reaper. And that only fueled my fire more. Not only for my own music but I started thinking about all the music podcasts I’ve done in the past. Then I thought about the massive time suck it was to produce those shows. Compiling songs, contacting artists, etc. The actual episode production was really quick but all the preshow stuff was immense. And after getting several emails from friends asking what I was doing with it I’ve decided I should bring it back. But I want to keep doing TruckinNutz plus I would love to do some political opinion and I also want to do some talk about paranormal stuff because it fascinates me. I don’t want to have to manage and host multiple shows, I just don’t have time for that. So I decided to just rebrand this feed as my only feed and make the show about things that are interesting to me. I know some will not like the political shows, some may not like the music shows and some may not like the truckin shows. But you don’t have to download those episodes. I’ll have separate artwork for each one in the feed so you know what they are and can download them according to what you like. Here’s what has happened already Moved files, RSS feed and website to Simplecast. I’ve already done the 301 redirect so you shouldnt have to subscribe again. With this I started a new scheme of episode titles that starts on this episode, number 037. The scheme is the subject of the episode followed by the abbreviation then the episode number. For example if an episode of NTROradio is the next episode it will be titled ”Some Indie artist name NR-038”. TN is for TruckinNutz - The show about trucking NR is for NTROradio - Indie music artist spotlights. PO is for Political Opinion - My opinions about political stuff. BHM is for Bonehead Mediacast - My opinions on stuff other than politics. Includes podcasting, music production, writing and even paranormal stuff. In the mp3 tags the show’s name will be in the album tag to help with sorting. There is only one feed for my podcast. This one Hoping to be found on Spotify and iheartradio soon. It’s already showing on Google Podcasts app. That was stupid fast. Itunes has been updated to show this feed only from me. There is a link to subscribe to it in Apple Podcasts at the top of boneheadmedia.com You need to talk to your friends that listen to my shows and let them know about this change in case something messed up in the 301 redirect. NTROradio will have a segment in it that will give special attention to an artist who produced their music with Reaper. Social Media Sucks I recently took an unannounced vacation from all social media. I only posted on Facebook once. Actually logged in and posted it. I did do some automated posts but I wasn’t where I could see the newsfeed. I did no Facebook, Twitter, MeWe, etc for nearly 2 months. And I am considering just keeping it going other than logging in to post about the show. Why? Because it was so nice to not see any fighting, bickering or posts from people talking about some things they have no idea of what they are talking about. Here’s an analogy for you. In the world of audio production there is a technique called phase inverting. It’s a way you get those karaoke tracks for bars. Audio is typically in stereo left and right. You can find a certain frequency in the audio spectrum and invert the phase on one side or the other and can sometimes enhance or ruin the overall sound. If you invert the frequencies where the vocal track resides the vocals in the song seem to disappear but you still hear everything else. But if you invert the phase on all of the frequencies then the entire thing is cancelled out and you hear only silence. This is what social media has become. Social Media is phase inverted! Up to the point where you can’t get any enjoyment out of them anymore. Most of it, hell every damn bit of it has been turned political and nobody can even make a simple joke without someone screaming “I need a safe space!” Why can’t people just leave other people alone and go on about their business without sticking their nose into yours? My day to day life these last 2 months have been awesome. I seem to sleep better and have an overall better demeanor. So much so I think I may keep it this way. Podcastings Biggest Upcoming Problem Podcasts are finally coming into their own. And it’s about damn time. While at the same time that they are becoming mainstream and more and more people are listening we have a major problem that is coming with it. Not that the problem will slow it down or even make people stop listening but it will make a lot of true die hard podcast listeners like myself upset with the industry. What is the problem? Funding is the problem While I myself don’t have a problem with someone capitalizing on something and making money. We all need it to survive and prosper. But what I do have a problem with is someone that gets into for the sole purpose of making said money. For example internet marketers. Not the real genuine ones who actually know about the subject that they create a blog to drive traffic for an online store or to collect email so they can send you emails asking you to buy their stuff. I’m talking about these people who find a product that they don’t know about, then hire a ghostwriter to write their blog and put affiliate links everywhere. It’s obvious that they don’t care about the people or the product. What I love the most about podcasts is the sense of reality you get from them. Especially in the early days. They had passion! Because they were talking about what they loved. That’s partly why I’ve restructured this podcast. Because my interests change, literally day to day. Maybe I have ADD. I digress, back to the the subject. Another thing that is starting to bother me is Podcast Networks. I understand why they exist, hell I even had a small one. But are they really needed? For discovery I say yes. But outside of that there really isn’t any need for them other than to serve their owners. Usually a company that has some connections to radio or tv. I know where the blame or rather gratitude falls here. It’s the radio industry and big corporations. For them they have seen a huge decline in listenership since the inception of the internet. And big radio has seen that podcasting is the way of the future. By big corporation I mean television and movies. They are getting their listeners and viewers back through podcasting. They realize that it is time shifted content that is delivered direct to the customer. The’ve been able to raise the quality of production for everybody and I am truly thankful for that. But in their quest to find funding its gone back to the old standard of advertising. I absolutely abhor adverts and commercials in a podcast. If it can be done at the very beginning or end of an episode I am totally fine with that. But to put it in the middle of a show absolutely drives me bonkers. If a host can segway into a live read its cool. But to use it to separate segments, hell no. Its even worse if its just throw in by a hosting company. I will immediately unsubscribe at that moment. Podcasting was a grassroots real rise in the beginning. But I fear that it is now nearly beyond the point where we can keep it that way. The thing that will solve it is funding. And currently I can only see the audience doing it through things such as Patreon or Paypal/Stripe donations. I’ve seen a few subscription based podcasts that are working well. But I’ve also seen some that want you to sign up for $9.99/month but no way to listen to some free episodes. Or they give you one free. I don’t know about you but I can’t decide if I want to pay someone $10/month based on one damn episode. I don’t care what their bio says. If I don’t have a personal connection to them or they have info I want or need I ain’t spending my money. I guess what I’m saying is that I don’t want to see these big corporations take over the industry and turn it into nothing more than time shifted tv and radio filled with advertising that doesn’t pertain to anything with the content. We need to find something that works for both the big guys and the little guys for funding the podcast production.

Just a quick episode I recorded a 3 weeks ago at the time of this posting. I was sitting in a dock getting loaded and wanted to try to record with the on board mics of the Zoom R16. Worked out pretty good with some magic from Reaper. I also played a couple of songs that I am working on.

Pissing Me Off
Last episode I mentioned that I would do some CB interviews. I still havent had time to do one yet. I will eventually get them started. I also said I would play my Ghost Riders in the Sky cover that I started working on and didnt. So even though I havent done anything with it either since then I will play at least the first part of it. I did do a song that is all midi with no guitars and it turned out really well in my opinion. I’ll play that at the end. For now lets talk about a growing problem that has got to stop or change. Stop peeing in bottles! There are toilets for that! Now I understand there are some legitimate reasons to use a bottle. Medical-Kidney or bladder infection/disease. Frequent urination is a sign of diabetes as well as some venereal disease. Disability-You are physically disabled and getting in and out the truck is extreme chore. Non legitimate reasons Your too fat-chances are you have diabetes and you need to get that taken care of. You cant physically cant get in or out of the truck to do it. Your too lazy to walk- which will make you more fat. (see number 1) I’ve seen perfectly capable guys or gals piss in a bottle instead of walking to the bathroom because they had to park out on the back row and they just didn’t want to walk. I’ve also seen guys and gals park on the back row and limp/shuffle/waddle all the way to the building because they had a disability or crutches and should’ve been able to park in the handicap spot that had some lazy young driver parked in it. So if you must use a bottle lets talk about some etiquette Get the right sized bottle. Go for the bigger mouth bottles. ie the big tea or juice bottles or better yet get a gallon jug of water. You need it anyways for drinking and doing dishes/cleaning. After you empty that jug you can use smaller bottles to empty it to make it easier to dispose of your waste. Just put the smaller bottles in a plastic bag(double bag it if you can) and throw those away. In a trash can! Dont leave a full gallon of piss sitting next to the trashcan at the fuel island. Take it one of the trashcans located around the lot and PUT IT IN THE CAN not next to it. Dont leave your piss bottles on the ground next to your truck. You get out at some point so throw it in a trashcan along with the rest of your trash. Dont pee in the big 32 or 44 oz cups then just dump it out the door. Remember that there are other drivers and mechanics that have to crawl under trucks to fix broken shit. It might even be you or your truck. So have some respect for others. Here’s the big one. DONT DO IT WHILE DRIVING! Not only is it dangerous but if you are like the average male what you think is a firehose is actually more like a lady finger firecracker. You will pee all over your hands, seat floor board and just imagine what a mess you will have if you hit a pothole! If drivers are as upset as they say they are about all this paid parking capitalization going on since the elog mandate then its up to us to police ourselves about keeping parking areas clean. If you see someone doing something stupid such as pissing on the pavement or throwing trash and piss bottles on the ground then say something to them. They may give you some shit but dont back down. They are the problem with the industry and need to either straighten up or get out. I’m sick of seeing these lazy assholes do this stuff and have never not said anything to them. I’ve even gone so far as to go pick up their trash and put it back on the step of their truck so they would step on it when they got out. Which brings up another point I need to make. If you got to go number 2 use a plastic bag in a large bowl or bucket. And dont throw that on the ground either! Put it in a can. Dont stand on the catwalk behind the cab and go either. It goes straight to the ground or your driveshaft. Dont lean against the trailer or a tire. If you have a dog and walk it dont you pick it up with a poop bag? Prolly, prolly not. But you should be. Nobody wants to step in dog shit and pee. And nobody wants to step in your piss or shit!

Ready for the Blitz
I know its been nearly a month since a real show. But I have been extremely busy. I had to put Clifford out to pasture. Well, not him per say but the truck part of him. We are in a rental truck from Ryder till at least August or September when the new trucks start rolling in. The one I get may not be brand new because I am still kinda down on the totem pole in seniority but at least it will be a Peterbuilt. I was promised. I’ll just be glad to get out of this Volvo. I am trying a different way of recording this week. I just got a Zoom R16 mobile recorder/interface/control surface and have been playing with it all day. I got this so I can record in the truck during the week. It can act as an interface to your computer to get audio in and out of the computer and it can also record straight to an SD card. It will also work as a control surface for your DAW so you can control the faders, pan, start, stop, etc without having to use the mouse or memorize keyboard shortcuts. And just for my nerdy Linux friends it works 100% with the latest AV Linux 2018 straight out of the box. Nothing to install nothing to download no kernel to recompile. Its just frickin awesome. Oh its got a ton of effects built into it. I can go more in depth at a later time. Lets just say that my workflow just got a major improvement. I will be recording on the Zoom and then importing the files into Ardour, Reaper or Studio One to master and convert to mp3. I’m also going to share a song with you at the end. It’s called “Hammer On Down”. It’s an original song from me and is a work in progress. It will eventually have lyrics. It’s kinda different than what I usually write being its somewhat countrified. I call it Hybrid Country. Its hard rock but still has that back woodsy, grab a beer and lets do something stupid feel to it. Working lyrics for the chorus is as follows. Fire up that engine Get that truck a runnin Roll in another town Time to move along now Hammer on down. Lets get this thing rolling! Clifford's Last Ride
It’s a sad and happy day for me. I have to say goodbye to a great friend but it wont be all bad. I am saying goodbye to Clifford tomorrow. His last ride was this last week and I am cleaning him out this afternoon and taking him to the yard for the last time. Sadly he his going to be put out to pasture. No more pavement pounding for him. He’s too old and worn out to keep sinking money into him. The thing that sucks the most is that I have to drive a short term lease till my new truck arrives in August or September. But I will gladly wait for it because I am told it’s going to be a Peterbuilt 587. I don’t know what I will be driving in the meantime. I just hope it’s not a Volvo. I’ve never been a fan of those. Don’t get me wrong they are good trucks but they just don’t suit my taste. But I will tell you about it. Blowing Off Steam
I need to throw out a NSFW warning. There is cussing in this episode! Its good to be back. I didn’t get to record last weekend because I took the family to see Avengers:Infinity Wars. I won’t spoil it for you but I will say its like the comics only different. Awesome movie though and it contains more than a few curveballs but still retains enough of the comics to keep people satisfied. In this episode I’m gonna get a couple gripes off my chest, play a couple of videos and have a good laugh. I hope I don’t end up rambling your ears off too long and I will try to keep it around a normal episode. Also I got a new cover song for you. Its Boy in Love by BTS, a kpop group that is really starting to go HUGE worldwide. My daughter is a huge fan (they are called “Army”) and approves of my cover so that means a lot to me. I’ll play it at the end as always. Now lets do some bitching! Stay out of the left lane! Slower traffic keep right is a law in EVERY state. If you can’t do the speed limit be professional and courteous. Don’t pass when there is a bunch of traffic backed up already. Wait till it clears. Not just being professional here but I’m thinking from a safety pov here. The longer that 2 trucks are side by side the more things can go wrong. Breakdowns on the shoulder, deer, somebody crosses the median, etc. Help other drivers back up when in a tight situation. Not only for protecting your equipment but also if you are waiting for them to back in so you can get going. Back to being a professional. Don’t drive stupid. 4 times this week I was cut off by another truck who either didn’t look in the mirror, just figured I would slow down and let them out or they just didn’t care if they got ass packed by me. Contrary to what most people think its not a race on the interstate. No matter if you lost time in construction zones or heavy traffic. Once you lose time you will never gain it back. The best thing to do is stay consistent and keep the left door shut. Every time you stop you will lose an average of 15 minutes just getting off and back on the interstate. Plus the time you were stopped. STOP DRIVING THROUGH THE TRUCK STOPS LIKE YOU ARE EXITING PIT ROW! Don’t take your 10 off at the fuel island. Saw a driver do this with my own 2 eyes at the Loves in Ina, IL. Either take a stand against paid parking and bitch at the assholes throwing trash on the lots or pay for the parking and shut up. I’m personally against the paid parking but when guys throw their piss bottles and trash on the ground instead of walking the length of the trailer to a trash can I really understand why they are charging. We need to police ourselves. Adam’s video – 4 people you hear on the radio. He nails it really good. Philips Video – Fuck this Industry Boy in Love BTS-cover

Updates I’m trying out Mewe as a replacement to Facebook. I never took the time to create a Facebook page for TuckinNutz but there is a TruckinNutz group over at Mewe. I admit its kind of hard to get started because all your friends are on Facebook but it is so nice to not have a ton of stoopid thrown in your face the minute you log in. I’m starting to like it. I broke the 221 mark finally. I weighed in at 219 this morning. Daily sugars are awesome and I did an A1c 2 months early and it already shows that I dropped 3 points! After last weeks episode about CB’s I ended up having to drive a rental truck for the week. And there wasnt any place to hook it up!?!? WTF? A truck not set up for a CB? Thats heresy! Clifford is fine though. He had a couple of oil leaks I was worried about and needed a B service. But he is back this week and chomping at the bit to get rolling.** I quit the band Slight Case of Death. I cant ever seem to get home in time to go to practice and with writing new songs I wont be able to keep up in time for shows. So I just gave up on it. I will still be the number one fan and will be involved in the recording and other behind the scenes stuff. I’m working on more cover songs. They just may end up turning into a full fledged album with other musicians from around the mid Michigan area. May end up giving it away for donations to charity. Most likely be Kick the F**k Out of Cancer. Hopefully you guys have noticed the better audio quality here on the show. I am applying everything I’m learning from doing these cover songs into the podcast production. So lets get into the news! Even DOT cops are crooked You heard of Kim Dot Com? Well, meet Diesel Trailer Truck First quarter of 2018 truck sales hit a 12 yr high Schneider creates company app for drivers Safety groups seek to end roadway fatalities Compilation of brake checks on trucks is a must watch.
