Bodysuits For Bughead Returns
Hey y’all, it’s Maria. Who asked for a rant about Riverdale? I am returning for our Lost Episodes (1x10-1x13 and 2x01-2x09) and potentially 4x19, 5x01-5x03 and whatever in the time jump brings me enough joy that I want to podcast it. Also, I rant about Josie and the Pussycats being mistreated by the writers (who else watched Return of the Pussycats? 5x15 will def be on the list of episodes we’re gonna podcast!) In the meantime, if you miss Bughead as much as I do, I’m still writing Bughead fic on AO3: stonerbughead. And if political moments on TV teen dramas are your jam (you listen to my podcast already so maybe they are?), listen to my new podcast Leftist Teen Drama! See y’all soon with 1x10 xoxo Maria

Riverdale 4x16 - “Chapter Seventy-Three: The Locked Room”
feat. guest: Hailey “They’ve done such a good job of writing these Stonies as the shitty ultrawealthy that they are. Wonderful critique of capitalism, guys, I love it. And so to finally see them get their comeuppance and Betty and Jughead take them down as the working class heroes that they are? It’s gonna be so beautiful!” -Maria So we were kinda *joking* about this episode being 42 minutes of Betty and Jughead acting smug as fuck...but like, it actually is and we are living for it?! We get Peak!Bughead as they take us through pretty much...everything that happened all season up until that moment, including the night Jughead almost died. We gasp at ALL the Baxter Brothers/Tracy True secrets that are revealed, from DuPont and Forsythe I to Chipping jumping out a window to Donna Sweett’s real motive for revenge. Come along for the ride with us as we joke, theorize, and love all the Bughead and the core four finally being reunited (above ground.) (And of course, we have lots of anti-Barchie arguments and pleas with the writers to stop this baiting nonsense that makes no sense for the characters they’ve developed over the past, idk, four seasons.) As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. RIP Luke Perry, love forever. ————————————————————————————— A message from Rebecca, who is taking a step back from the podcast for the foreseeable future: “I want to start off saying how much fun this experience has been for me and how I want to ultimately figure a way to be able to play a role again in the future. I am in grad school now and my program is just overwhelming me. I'm also just a person so sometimes life gets to me too. I want to be able to be the best podcast co-host to my dear friend Maria, and to those who listen! Right now, I just have to take some time for myself and focus on school. I will be back! Because I need to know who that damn Twiggy-Smalls is and I have too many bodysuits now for my own good! Thanks to Maria! Thanks to RAS! Thanks to Bughead! XOXO Rebecca.”

Riverdale 4x15 - “Chapter Seventy-Two: To Die For”
feat. guest: Kelly “We are in a time of crisis. The primary, the coronavirus. Can Riverdale just make sense? That’s all I’m asking.” “That’s all I want.” “A little bit of sense, even.” “I want just, like, a feeling of...release. Of resolution.” “Arousal..” “A building tension maybe?” If you know, then you know—this episode is an emotional rollercoaster. Come along for the ride with Maria and Kelly as we theorize, shriek, laugh our asses off, and scream when the show FINALLY confirms what we knew to be true all along—JUGHEAD IS NOT DEAD! Also: Maria explains her Jughead-as-demisexual headcanon again and we talk critique of the fandom toxicity intentionally fueled in the promotion for this episode and whether Charles and Chic’s connection will play a role in the back-end of the season. As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x14 - “Chapter Seventy-One: How to Get Away with Murder”
feat guest: Maria’s boo/B4B producer Jeff “Jughead’s not dead!” -Maria, approximately a dozen times throughout this podcast “I’m spending every second of every scene trying to figure out what could be a different level of a lie or not a lie or who knows what or doesn’t know what.” It’s a wild, post-Stonewall-Prep-party ride with Betty, Archie, and Veronica! Amongst all our confusion, rambling theories, and deep hatred of the Stonewall Prep kids, we find time to be excited about Mary Andrews coming out to Archie and the badass/swoonworthy moment when Betty threatens Donna in the forest wearing Jughead’s Sherpa jacket. Other than that, Jeff continues trying to convince of us of a Sabrina crossover and Maria mostly waxes poetic about the hopefully-soon-to-come steamy and romantic Bughead reunion. We also talk Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols casting news (soon-to-be-bye-bye FP and Hermione!) and the possibility of a less-parent-heavy Season 5 if Riverdale does the time-jump that has been heavily rumored (and which we are rooting for!) As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x13 - “Chapter Seventy: The Ides of March”
feat guest: Maria’s boo/B4B producer Jeff “This is kind of THE episode that we’ve all been building toward all season—really, since the Season 3 finale when we saw the first flash-forward” -Maria Epic, investigative, angsty, and romantic Bughead! Cute, comforting Varchie and sexy, scheming Choni! The “final?” showdown with the Stonewall preppies and their apparent ringleader DuPont! We have so many theories about everything that goes down ~conveniently~ on the Ides of March—and we KNOW that our boy Jughead is not dead. As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x12 - “Chapter Sixty-Nine: Man of Honor”
feat guest: Sofia “All I’ve ever wanted is for Betty and Jughead to be like, ‘you know what we’re not gonna play on your terms, you capitalist fucks, we’re leaving.’ Ugh, yes! That is so on brand for me. Bodysuits For Bughead approved.” -Maria Another good Bughead ep, we. are. LIVING! In this jam-packed episode, we cheer on an investigative Betty and freak out when she discovers that Donna has been the mastermind of Stonewall Prep all along. We have a lot of fun with the three-part Jughead vs. Bret duel, including a ton of Chilton vs. Stonewall Gilmore Girls parallels inspired by that fencing bout. As expected, we have a LOT of reactions to Archie’s latest absurd fight scene(s) and we thoroughly enjoy wonderful friendship moments with Cheryl, Fangs, Toni, and Kevin, and Veronica and the introduction of Katy Keene! Content warning for some questionable politics around consent and sexual assault: Maria talks about the Donna reveal, the Toni/Nick plotline, and those sex tapes all being in one episode at 1:13:14 - 1:20:42 As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x11 - “Chapter Sixty-Eight: Quiz Show”
feat guest: Kelly You know what they say...a big Bughead episode means a LONG episode of Bodysuits For Bughead! What a fun ep! From a quiz show team of powerful Riverladies to tickle porn and maple-rum being sold by a kidnapped killer mother, we have a great time. We obvi have a LOT of feelings and screeches to share about Bughead’s storyline, many opinions about Archie’s management of Andrews Construction, and, ya know, your standard confusion and attempts at making sense of the flash-forwards. We also talk about the announcement that Hedwig and the Angry Inch will be the Season 4 musical! As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x10 - “Chapter Sixty-Seven: Varsity Blues”
feat guest: Hailey Cheryl: We’re going on strike! Maria: Yes! They’re doing direct action! Ooh, yes! Withhold your labor! Age-old labor tactic. This is beautiful. Y’all, has it EVER been clear that Riverdale is depicting an indictment of the super-wealthy than in this football championship episode that gives us the owning-class Stonewall assholes playing against the ragtag Riverdale working class team? (Cough, cough, billionaires shouldn’t exist.) Maria and Hailey have so much fun with this last hurrah for the River Vixens and Bulldogs, from a wild final cheerleader musical number to Cheryl and Veronica’s new joint business idea to Betty’s ongoing investigation with the help of Monica Posh and a Chilling Adventures of Sabrina cameo. Plus: our usual amount of confusion, disbelief, and attempts at theorizing around the latest troubling Bughead-related flash-forward. Oh, and we also talk Katy Keene excitement and Riverdale’s Season 5 renewal(including what post-high school Riverdale might look like.) As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x09 - “Chapter Sixty-Six: Tangerine”
Feat guest: Jeff “The three endgame couples are like, holding each other while they watch a fiery boat of a flaming body float away. Romantic.” -Maria TBH, this mid-season finale gave us whiplash—from Archie and FP’s team-up to run the Dickinson brothers out of town to Jughead bashing a skull in with a rock as initiation into a creepy secret society to Cheryl’s Red Queen trial of Penelope Blossom and subsequent letting-go of Jason (finally!) via fiery Viking Funeral on Sweetwater River. Meanwhile, in “Hills We Are Willing to Die On” territory, we continue to plead with the writers to let Veronica have non-Hiram-related plotlines, and, as Maria is NOT a fan of this Betty storyline, we plead once again for our dear Betty to go to regular therapy sessions. P.S. Having recorded our live reactions on December 11, we were still in a bit of shock over the Riverdale writers actually trying to get us to buy that Betty Cooper killed the Love of Her Life Jughead Jones (seriously, good one, y’all) so while we throw some ideas around, a more coherent discussion of flash-forward theories will commence on our 4x10 podcast~ As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x08 - “Chapter Sixty-Five: In Treatment”
Feat guest: Sofia Remember when we spent our entire podcast so far arguing that these kids needed therapy and then Riverdale decided to do a Therapy Episode™ instead of letting the kids actually go to a therapist on a regular basis?? Well, *sigh* we’ll take what we can get. We cheer on Cheryl finally confronting YEARS of trauma and Betty finally speaking her truth about Alice’s awful, abusive parenting, are concerned for both Archie and Jughead’s safety, and yet again, BEG Riverdale to let Veronica have a plot that doesn’t involve Hiram, like she deserves—though we do appreciate how badass she continues to be. Plus, we attempt to decode the latest flash-forward trying to unsuccessfully convince us that Jughead is dead. We discuss a few excellent articles on this episode and highly recommend you read them in their entirety: -Slate, March 22, 2018, “New Pop Culture Trend Alert: the Black Lady Therapist” by Aisha Harris -The Niche, November 24, 2019, “Did Riverdale Base Its New Season On That Esquire Article About Bennington College in the 1980s?” by Lucy -Esquire, May 28, 2019, “The Secret Oral History of Bennington: The 1980s' Most Decadent College,” by Lili Anolik -E!News, December 4, 2019, “Katy Keene is Heading to Riverdale for a Crossover Before It Premieres,” by Lauren Piester As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x07 - “Chapter Sixty-Four: The Ice Storm”
Feat guest: Kelly “I know other things are gonna be happening, and I’ll watch them and stuff, but I am here for Bughead having sexy times, cuddly times, and investigative times. You know, the Big Three?” -Maria It’s Thanksgiving in Riverdale—the wind’s a-blowin’ and an ice storm’s a-comin’, Hiram somehow became mayor overnight, Cheryl and Toni have a body to hide, and Archie’s just tryna feed some homeless kids to live out his late father’s legacy of good deeds! We cannot get enough of the snowed-in, investigative Bughead plotline pulled straight from a fanfic with badass Betty to boot, and we fully believed that Cheryl and Toni actually tricked the Blossom relatives into cannibalism for a good portion of the ep. Darla is Kelly’s problematic fave, Mary Andrews and Veronica Lodge are total badasses, and we have so many theories and thoughts about the deep, richy-rich Stonewall conspiracy that Bret and Donna are TOTALLY helping DuPont hide. Also, serious unanswered question: where the fuck are Jellybean, Juniper, and Dagwood??? As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x06 - “Chapter Sixty-Three: Hereditary”
Feat guest: Jeff Bodies are dropping, y’all! Along with Maria’s guest Jeff (her partner/B4B’s producer), we talk FP’s inconsistencies about what his childhood was like with Grandpa FP as Jughead discovers a Baxter Brothers revelation that threatens Stonewall Prep’s rep and may connect to the flash-forwards; are horrified by Cheryl’s family continuing to be more shitty every time we learn something new; and cheer on both Veronica on as she stands up to her murderous family and Archie as he tries to do the honorable thing, saving kids from being trapped in Dodger’s particular portion of the cycle of poverty. We discuss Bughead Season 2 parallels and are generally in awe of how adorable and communicative an investigative duo they got to be in this episode. Jeff thought Chic’s name was 'Chip' this whole time — and of course, we shriek and talk about all the things we learn about the Charles-Chic connection! Oh, and finally, we make a lot of jokes about how DuPont is a Jeffrey Epstein-level-scary-wealthy-man because like...after this wild ride of an episode in which Mr. Chipping straight up YEETS himself out the window most likely under Evil DuPont duress...this dude has to AT LEAST be in Epstein’s little black book, right? As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x05 - “Chapter Sixty-Two: Witness for the Prosecution”
Feat guests: Rosalie and Tara The keyword for this episode is THERAPY — whether we’re talking about an MIA Cheryl/Toni who we’re still very concerned about, repressed memories revealing that Betty’s serial killer dad tried to groom her to be violent from an early age, or FP’s own unresolved daddy trauma that Jughead’s research about Grandpa Jones brings up. We admire a very badass Veronica (Luna) as she contends with Governor Corrrupt-ass Dooley to free Hermione and meets her foe in Hermosa (Lodge), the mysterious half-sibling who foils Veronica’s plan to keep Hiram in prison. Oh, and we cannot get ENOUGH of the El Royale merch Archie somehow had made between teaching kids to box/going to school?? by day and fighting crime as a superhero by night. With the return of the ~annoying~ serial killer gene plotline, we referred to an excellent article from Refinery29 published on May 9, 2019: “The Serial Killer Gene on Riverdale, Explained” by Cory Stieg. Riverdale 4x04 - “Chapter Sixty-One: Halloween”
Feat guest: Kelly “Riverdale is basically one long Halloween episode I feel like?” - Maria It’s Riverdale’s first-ever Halloween episode and Maria and Kelly have a LOT of fun — so much fun that this podcast is longer than usual, but we hope you don’t mind ;) From shots fired at the community center Halloween party to pranks in the super-creepy new principal’s office to being drugged/hazed by classist prep school kids to being prank-called in the most triggering manner possible to sexy seances with secret dead triplets to taking on a serial killer with a fiery scorpion bowl — it’s a WILD Halloween night in Riverdale! We laugh, theorize, shriek, scream, and politicize our way through all the horror movie homages, romantic moments, and an insane flash-forward! Riverdale 4x03 - “Chapter Sixty: Dog Day Afternoon”
Feat guest: Sofia Jughead: You better take your breaks from me while you can, Cooper, because you and I are in this for the long haul. Maria and Sofia: *SCREAMING/SCREECHING/BREATHING HEAVILY* Who knew the final showdown with The Farm would involve Betty saving the day with a bobby-pin, a Principal Weatherbee redemption moment, and a LITERAL ROCKET?! In this wild ride of an episode, we talk about everything from Veronica Luna and why Jason’s body isn’t decaying to sexy car washes and Archie and Mad Dog’s newest enemy Dodger, to Bisexual King Moose and what hints about Jughead’s Stonewall Prep mystery we can extrapolate from “The Secret History” by Donna Tartt, which Maria finished right before this episode aired (and which RAS cites as an influence for this season’s prep school arc.) Season 4 continues to be so much fun and Bughead continues to be as cute, strong, and in love as ever. As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x02 - “Chapter Fifty-Nine: Fast Times at Riverdale High”
Feat guest: Hailey It’s senior year, baby, the high school hijinks are at an all-time high, and we are HERE for it! Okay, first of all, this is an AMAZING Bughead episode and we talk about ALL of it: the sexy af night-before-senior-year sex, the cute kisses, Betty being the most supportive girlfriend of all fucking time as Jughead decides to transfer to Stonewall Prep. Then, there’s the fact that they FINALLY addressed Reggie being abused by his dad and dug into two fractured friendships: Betty/Kevin and Reggie/Archie. And of course, from Cheryl having her dead brother in the basement and starting a prank war with Dawson’s Creek-alum Principal Honey to Veronica being followed around by an absurd number of paparazzi and performing All That Jazz before a press conference, this show continues to be wild and we continue to Love. It. So Much. Obsessed. Season 4’s gonna be a good one. As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 4x01 - “Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam”
Feat guest: Liv “He was our dad for three seasons” -Liv Tears are shed, hearts are broken and then warmed, and much praise is given to the epic and emotional performances delivered by all of the cast members in this intense, beautiful stand-alone tribute episode to Fred Andrews and Luke Perry. We celebrate Luke’s life in the best way we know how — laughing and joking and loving this show, the characters, and their love for each other! And thankfully this beautiful season premiere allows us to appreciate lots of friendships, relationships, and a community coming together (+Bughead holding each other close, of course) as we look forward to Season 4 and the start of senior year for our beloved teens. **LINK TO LIV'S NEW BLOG (and a very special Riverdale article)COMING SOON** As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Because I need to know who that damn Twiggy-Smalls is and I have too many bodysuits now for my own good! Thanks to Maria! Thanks to RAS! Thanks to Bughead! XOXO Rebecca.”

Sex, Lies, and Videotapes: A Pre-Riverdale Season 4 Roundtable
Cults and flash-forwards and FBI agents, oh my! It’s (almost) senior year, baby! Jughead’s missing, Archie and Veronica both own full-on businesses, and pretttty much everyone’s parents are dead or in prison. Maria, along with a panel of esteemed guests — Hailey, Jeff, Kelly, and Sofia — debrief the Season 3 finale, discuss all our unanswered questions, and talk all our theories, feelings, news from Comic Con, Season 4 trailer, and, of course, how much we miss Bughead. As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast. Riverdale 3x22 - “Chapter Fifty-Seven: Survive the Night”
feat guests: Rosalie and Mackensie *APOLOGIES FOR THE DELAY! This episode was recorded LIVE on the night of the Season 3 finale in May; Maria’s personal life got really hectic this summer and she needed an editing break which is why we’re only just now posting the edited episode. Thanks for your patience!* This was truly one of the wildest season finales of ALL TIME. Like, throughout this ep, Rosalie continually reminds us that her heart is beating fast and can we really blame her?! Hear our fresh reactions, feelings, and theories to the Gargoyle King reveal; each trial of the core four’s final G&G game; the Farm’s “Ascension”/disappearance; the reveal that FBI Agent/brother Charles is alive; the adorable final S3 relationship moments for Bughead, Varchie, and Choni; and that UNREAL flash-forward to spring break of senior year! As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast.
