Stephanie Britt's own daughter experienced and kicked a mental block in her cheering years. Stephanie has helped her own child and hundreds of athletes who all the sudden- would not go backward. Here's what she wants you to know: The athlete wants to flip and doesn't know why she can't tumble. As a cheerleader, this is extremely important. The child becomes filled with anxiety, guilt and stress; which often times causes depression and frustration that will lead her to quit. 5 Things that Cause Mental Block: 1. Advancing too quickly 2. Accident or Injury 3. Self-critical athlete 4. Pressure from a coach or the parent 5. A child who suffers from anxiety In the world of all-star cheerleading, mental blocks are more common due to the higher amounts of pressure athletes have to overcome. 02 - How to Give Your Cheerleader the Most Opportunities!
In this episode of Blood Sweat & Cheer, on June 18th, 2019 Stephanie Britt talks very frankly about the recipe for giving your athlete the most opportunities in cheerleading and in life. Which she feels is one of the most important roles as a mom. Here are some main tips she has learnt and wants to share with all of you! Being a selfless parent. Sacrificing money and time so that your cheerleader can lead an extraordinary life. Not letting pride deny your cheerleader a better future. Practice the 24-hour rule! Always pause and stay silent through struggles. Choose your battles and handle conflict in such a way that doesn’t shut the door on future opportunities or burn bridges. Commitment and not letting your athlete quit. Possibly allow your child to do more than one sport or activity to prevent burnout and never letting them quit cheerleading in the bad times! Be reasonable about expectations based on their body types and natural gifts. Help guide their passion so that can be successful. Get extra work on your weaknesses to master your craft. Stephanie Britt explains that kids often blame their parents for “letting them quit” or “denying them a better future” so she recommends letting your cheerleader set their goals, then doing everything to help them reach said goals so they have the OPTION & OPPORTUNITY to be successful. Especially in the world of cheerleading! Please go rate the podcast 5 STARS and write a review as well as recommend to a friend to get our message out! 01 - Introduction to Blood, Sweat & Cheer
Welcome to the Blood Sweat & Cheer Podcast! In the very first episode, Stephanie Britt, owner of Cheer Savannah Allstars, one of the best competitive cheer programs in the world, shares how she started her cheer gym that grew into an Empire! In seventh grade, Stephanie missed her shot at tryouts out for her middle school cheer team, so she spent the year perfecting her skills. Then, Stephanie made the team as an 8th grader and was one of the best tumblers and cheerleaders in Middle Georgia. By the time her junior year rolled around, she was team captain and left her part-time job as a waitress and started her own tumbling business. Stephanie became obsessed with studying and learning her craft. Her first setback was the summer after her senior year when she was denied the chance to join the NCA summer camp staff. At Georgia Southern, Stephanie tried out for the cheer team and was also rejected due to her policy of always being honest! Eventually, Stephanie hosted the first ever GISA Cheerleading Competition, exclusively for private schools in Georgia. This helped her build relationships with cheer coaches in Georgia who eventually hired her when she started her own summer camp business. After moving to Savannah, Georgia, Stephanie decided to take out a newspaper ad for Savannah’s first all-star cheer team. Her team of 24 beginner cheerleaders went on to win their very first competition, the FCC National Championship in Orlando Florida. Stephanie started Cheer Savannah to help little girls’ dreams come true and ignite her passion. However, she always wondered when she was going to get a real job, because this cheer coaching gig was simply her passion. While growing her brand and program, Stephanie started her family and her 2 daughters excelled as cheerleaders and athletes. Stephanie adopted her son from Bethesda Home for Boys who went on to play football at UGA & in the NFL. Her daughter Southern now cheers for UGA after she and her sister Saylor made it to the top 10 at the World Championships! Stephanie explains how she always helped others, and how her business grew to be one of the largest in the country, and then suffered hardships as competitors opened and tried to shut her down. She describes methods she used to be a great sports mom and cheer mom! Stephanie passes on her passion for empowering women and girls to be their best self and never give up on their dreams!
