Ep. 165: How to Protect Your Peace
As a mom called to meaningful work beyond motherhood, it can feel like your attention is being pulled in ten different directions at any given moment. It might seem like your life is dictated by the needs, expectations and distractions from the outside world. Even if it feels contrary to the reality most of us find ourselves in, your peace is your responsibility. It's a choice. It's something you have the ability to steward: just as you do your time, your money and your health. Peace has to be pursued and it has to be protected. In this episode, I'm breaking down five ways that you can project your peace. Being a good steward of your mental and emotional health in this way matters. It impacts how you show up in everyday life as well as the harder, more challenging seasons of life. Understanding how to protect your peace allows you to live beyond your circumstances and experience a more purposeful and intentional life as a mom, wife, business owner, entrepreneur and human being. Here's to a life of more peace and presence, less stress and overwhelm. Ep. 163: Busy is the Enemy of Peace
Busy is a reality of life for many working moms. Days are hurried, rushing from one thing to the next. We wake up in a hurry to get everyone out the door, or to get to the part of our day where the work begins. We rush through work, thinking that the faster we go, the quicker we can see our families, make dinner, do the homework and activities - and get everyone to bed. The days feel like a blur from the moment our alarm goes off in the morning until our heads hit the pillow that night. This is what a hurried, overbusy life looks like - and it has become our normal. Our distracted, hurried and busy lives are incompatible with what our souls really crave: more peace and more presence. We're tired of feeling like we're just getting by and surviving. We were made for more than survival. Busy is the enemy of peace - busy steals our joy, robs our attention and keeps us from being present to what matters most. In this episode, we talk about: Beyond Happy Ep 161: Just Going Through The Motions Beyond Happy Ep. 162: 5 Reasons You're Busy But Not Productive Break Up With Busy: The 5-Day Challenge.

Ep. 162: 5 Reasons You're Busy but not Productive
Do you ever get to the end of a busy day or week and feel like you got nothing done? How is that even possible? For moms building businesses and careers while raising families, the struggle is real. We constantly feel behind, even when it seems like we're always on the go. The reality for many of us is that we are really busy without being very productive. We tend to think that these terms are synonymous, but they are not. Being busy does not equal being productive. On this episode we're talking about the differences between being busy and being productive and five reasons you may feel busy but not be productive. In this episode, we talk about: BREAK UP WITH BUSY - the (free) 5-Day Challenge that kicks off September 27th. If you're tired of a life that feels rushed, hurried and busy, you want to be inside this challenge. Join Break Up With Busy here and get immediate access to the private Facebook group. See you there. If you're ready for personal support through coaching, your next step is to schedule a free Before + After call with me. We'll talk about where you are right now and where you need support to break through what's holding you back. Together, we'll figure out your next right step to move forward. Maybe that's working together, and maybe it isn't. But I'll help you figure it out either way. Schedule your free Before + After call here.

Ep. 161: Just Going Through the Motions
Do you ever feel like you’re just going through the motions in your days? Stuck on the hamster wheel, doing what needs to be done to get through the day, but at the same time, kind of feeling like something is missing? Maybe even feeling like you’re missing out on your own life? In this episode, we're talking about the feeling of just going through the motions in your life. You feel like you wake up, do all the things, check them off the list, go to bed, wake up and do it all over again. Day after day after day. After day. Does it feel like you’re living on autopilot? Do you ever wonder what happened to your life? Or question if this is just the way your life is going to be? Feeling this way about your days is what I call going through the motions. Going through the motions looks like days where you’re just reacting to what life throws at you - a life where external circumstances have the control, dictating your days instead of you owning your moments with purpose and intention. And it’s what we are diving into on this episode of Beyond Happy. You'll learn: • What the symptoms of going through the motions can look like • How going through the motions can impact your life in a negative way • How we get to here - what causes us to feel this way • Four things you can do to get back in the driver’s seat and get your life back I can't wait for you to listen. On this episode, we also talk about: Break Up With BUSY - the free, 5-Day Challenge For Working Moms. Join here. Are you ready to take what you’re learning on the podcast to the next level? Do you ever fear that you're missing out on your own life? Maybe you imagine that near the end of your days, you'll look back and realize you were focused on all the wrong things. Maybe you worry that your priorities are off, you're too busy or rushed and are just going through the motions. For you, maybe it's a fear that pursuing a career or growing a business means you'll miss out on your kids' childhoods. Missing out on what matters most is a real fear - one that many working moms share with me. They just want to do the right thing. They want to live full, purpose-driven and productive lives that they are also present for. But sometimes, that feels really hard to achieve. Do you worry? Many moms do. Maybe you experience anxiety about your kids, your parenting, your marriage or uncertain life circumstances. Or for you, it could be worry about your work or your business, finances, the health of loved ones, decisions that you’re making, or something else that consumes your thoughts and keeps you up at night. Ep. 157: You Have Nothing to Prove
What are you trying to prove? As women, moms, wives, professionals and human beings - there is something within that tells us our value, our worth, must be earned. Because of this, we work hard to try to prove ourselves worthy - often without even realizing it. Our need to prove ourselves shows up in our lives in several different ways. In this episode, we're exploring 4 ways I see this showing up in my private coaching sessions with working moms: productivity, perfectionism, people-pleasing and performance. We're walking through what drives each of these behaviors and uncovering the sneaky lie hidden behind all of them. Then, we're diving into 5 powerful truths that will allow you to let go of the need to prove so that you can be free to live beyond it. Ep. 156: The 3 Most Important Things in Your Life
How you spend your days is how you spend your life. How are you spending yours? In a life that can feel so busy, and so hurried, it often seems like we're just going through the motions each day and missing out on what matters most. One reason? We're living out of alignment. Our day-to-day reality doesn't align with what matters most to us. In this episode, I'm helping you discover the 3 most important things in your life by answering key questions about your three most valuable life resources: your time, your money and most critically, your attention. How you are investing these three resources in the current season of your life reveals what is most important to you right now, why you might be feeling lost, empty or "like something is missing", and provides invaluable information when you want to create a life that is more aligned and feels more authentically you. Ep. 155: 5 Tips To Stay Committed and Follow Through (Even When You Don't Feel Like It)
Why is following through so hard? You decide you're going to set a goal or make some meaningful changes in your life, and then, when the time comes to make it happen? You don't feel like it. You lose motivation. You waver. You aren't fully committed. You don't expect making changes in your life to be easy, but why does it feel SO hard to keep going sometimes, and SO easy to quit? We've all been there, and there's a good reason why. On this episode, we're talking about why change is hard (even good change!), why giving up is so tempting the moment something feels hard, unpleasant or uncomfortable, and five ways you can stay committed and follow through on the decisions and commitments that matter to you - even when you don't feel like it. Ep. 154: 10 Ways To Build Rest Into Your Busy Week
For working moms, the idea of rest can seem like a luxury reserved for "someday". We're exhausted - physically, mentally and emotionally - but we just keep going - often in the name of making progress and getting more done. It seems necessary. Making time for rest can seem crazy in a world focused on the hustle and the busy. It might even seem lazy, like a waste of time or just a way to get even further behind. The truth is, we were created for rest just as much as we were created for all the good work we're called to do in our lives. This kind of restful, unhurried life is even modeled for us in Scripture, and although our souls crave the kind of rest and refuels us and lights us up, many of us still don't make it a daily priority. Today, we're talking about why rest matters and how you can make it an intentional part of your life. In this episode, we discuss: • what true rest is • 3 truths I've learned about rest • 10 ways to build rest in your busy week Ready to have more peace and presence, less stress and overwhelm in your days? Ep. 153: Thoughts About Time That Make You Feel Sad
As a coach for moms called to building business and careers, I coach a lot on the topic of time - specifically, our desire for more of it (and to be better stewards of it) in a life where we're doing ALL the things. But today, we're talking about time from a different perspective. We're looking at the big-picture thoughts we have about time as mothers, and how these seemingly-sweet and sentimental thoughts (Time flies! They grow up so fast!) might be making you feel sad, guilty and even depressed. The way you think about time becomes how you feel about your life - it impacts how you show up as a wife, mother, professional and human being. When we shine a light on the common thoughts we have about time as busy moms, we're able to see what those thoughts are creating in our days. And if we want to? We can change them and feel better. Ep. 152: Stop Waiting for Someday
Are you waiting for "someday" to feel better? Are you placing your hope in future circumstances that look different than your current reality and believing that then, your life will be so much better/easier/happier? We unintentionally do this so often - in both big-picture ways and smaller, everyday ways - and the truth? It holds us back. It steals our ability to be present, to feel like we're really living our lives because we're so focused on where we're going, where we're headed - instead of where we are. It's why so many of us feel like we're just going through the motions each day and missing out on our own lives. I understand what it feels like to just want your life back and feel better - especially as a mom called to meaningful work beyond motherhood. You want to pursue the meaningful work you're so passionate about without sacrificing a meaningful family life. In this episode, we're unpacking what I've termed "waiting-for-someday thinking" so that you can see how this mindset might be keeping you stuck. Ep. 151: How To Accept Your Humanness
Being a human is hard. But it's even harder when we live in a way that resists the reality of what it is to be human. When we learn to accept ourselves as human beings? To embrace our imperfections and limitations? We're free. Free to live rich and meaningful lives. Free to show up fully to the lives we're called to. Free to experience more of what we want in our days, and less of what we don't. Accepting our humanness is like a breath of fresh air in a world that tells us lies about who we should be and how we should be. As Scripture reads, "The true shall set you free..." So let's talk about the truth of who we are as human beings. In this episode, we're talking about 5 things you can do to accept your humanness and why it matters - how it will change your life for the better. Ep. 150: Your Inner Critic
Call it negative self-talk, call it your inner mean girl, we all have that voice inside our head that criticizes and judges. And as we continue to explore this series of episodes about your relationship with you, we're looking at your own inner critic. So many women and moms tell me they struggle with negative thoughts about themselves - thoughts filled with judgment and criticism and self-doubt and self-sabotage. They want it to stop, but don't know how. We're talking about why so many of us experience this constant narrative of negativity and why our brain offers these thoughts about ourselves that make us feel horrible. We’re also talking about how to create more awareness around the negative belief patterns you have about you by walking through 6 different versions of the inner critic. Lastly? Ep. 149: How to Cultivate Confidence
Are you confident? Some of us think confidence means arrogance, so it's a word we shy away from. Others believe confidence is either something we're born with, or aren't, and so we assume that if we don't have it, that's just how it is. The truth? Confidence is not selfish or arrogant, and it's absolutely not a genetic trait you're born with. It's a skillset you can cultivate, just like riding a bike or learning a new language. As we continue this series of episodes all about your relationship with yourself, we're talking about cultivating confidence - what it actually is, what creates it, why it matters, and how what you think about yourself creates how you feel about your life. Ep. 148: Liking Yourself
This episode is kicking off a series we’re going to be doing over the next few weeks about your relationship with yourself. This is some of the most important work that you can do, because how you feel about yourself becomes how you feel about your life. The truth is that so many of us are going through our days intentionally trying to look or behave in certain ways in an attempt to manipulate what people think about us, maybe wanting to look like we have things more together than we really do. From the outside, we and our life appear one way, but on the inside, we’re falling apart. We’re silently suffering and miserable. Maybe if we’re honest, we really don’t like who we are, and that is really painful to admit, to even think about, there’s so much guilt and shame, so we don’t go there. We keep ourselves busy, as a distraction from the truth of this. We work really hard at creating an image that looks like we’re happy, that appears as though we’re confident and at peace with ourselves, but it isn’t real. In this episode, we're talking about the cost of avoiding the truth and being honest with ourselves is often the feeling that we’re not really living, we’re sitting on the sidelines of our own lives, going through the motions one day after the next. We're exploring why our brain would ever offer us negative thoughts and beliefs about ourselves, and seven powerful questions you can ask to gain clarity around how you really feel about you. In this episode, we talk about: The free worksheet download for this episode. How To Deal With Difficult People, the free class happening on June 23, 2021. Sign up here.
