Listen along and tell us what you think!We spend time with Dr. Melissa Thompson, the Director of Community Relations and Communications for the Baton Rouge General Foundation. She grew up in Arkansas and moved to Louisiana to pursue a bachelor’s in communication from LSU. Melissa received a master’s in communication theory from the University of Memphis in 2008 and a PhD in communication from the University of Memphis in 2014. She serves as an organizer and speaker coach for TEDxLSU since its inception in 2012 and is an adjunct faculty member in the LSU College of Business. She is a member of the 2017 class of Baton Rouge’s Forty Under 40 and a member of the 2018 class of the Baton Rouge Area Leadership Program. Thompson is also actively involved in the Mayor’s Millennial Agenda Committee, Junior League of Baton Rouge, Forum 225, and Delta Gamma.Extra comments from Melissa:"There was another profound nugget from this talk about how we (women) dismiss compliments or praise.
