Reconnecting Mind and Body with Guest Dr Sara O’Neill
Today’s episode is a little different as we talk to Dr Sara O’Neill about being yourself through chiropractic care, and its not what you would expect. I loved this conversation and as someone who has been seeing a chiropractor for over 20 years, it was a great chance to hear from Sara and talk about a different type of chiropractic care called NSA. About Dr Sara O’Neill Sara is a chiropractor practicing Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) which is a health and wellness application of EpiEnergetics. She practices in Kitchener and New Hamburg, ON. Sara grew up in Manotick, ON and was a synchronized figure skating athlete. She is part of a select group of Master practitioners training directly with Dr. Donald Epstein and participating in his new Alchemy program learning how our own energy states can create a life of joy and service to others. She is passionate about living authentically and guiding others to lives of full potential. Connect with Sarah here https://www.drsaraoneill.com/ What we talked about: How this form of chiropractic (NSA) care is very different from the more common ‘cracking’ method. How chiropractic care is about so much more then back pain. Using chiropractic care to shift your perspective and support you in your journey to becoming your most authentic self. Resetting the brain and creating a coherent mind and body. How NSA taps into the body’s innate capacity to heal and teaches the brain and body better ways to release tension held in the spine, bones and muscles, while improving the efficiency of the nervous system. Roles vs Souls in defining who you are. The importance of being you and it’s impact on the world. How it can help with dealing with stress and gaining clarity. The energy of true acceptance. What Sara’s vision is and how it has a ripple effect. What does it mean to truly be yourself and why its important in living your best life. Jennifer Forster – the Power of a Peaceful Woman
This weeks episode is a solo conversation I (Sue) had with friend Jennifer Forster. There are some people in your life that you just click with, who love and accept you for who you are. Jen is one of those people and the best example of someone living their truth. But it wasn’t always that way for her. In this episode we talk about her journey and her new book she has just released. Jen and I always have the best conversations and this was no exception. It was a little longer than usual but, I know you will get so much out of it. If you are feeling a little stuck and are ready to create a change in your life, this is the podcast for you. About Jen I could list off all her qualifications and achievements, her experience as a business woman, entrepreneur, life coach and author, but these would just be the facts. What I really want you to know about Jen, and the Jen that I know, is: she talks a lot and is loud (her words), she loves dark chocolate and red wine, she has identified an overachiever that lives inside her called “Odette”, she believes connection is critical to well-being and she abhors cruelty or bullying. Her heart expands when she is in nature and contracts when she ignores its whispers. She focuses on what’s right as opposed to what’s wrong, as a practice to open her heart and expand her soul. Behind her drive, determination, gypsy spirit and constantly curious nature is a woman who covets, above all else, her inner peace. In this episode we talk about: What are identities and where do they come from? Our default reactions to any situation help show us our unconscious identity. Creating awareness around our identity and how it affects our lives. Jen shares her identity, her overachiever she fondly names “Odette”. How she fell into a deep depression even though she had achieved all her goals. Why its important to listen for the warning signs, and how to do that. One question Jen asked herself that created so much fear in her but changed her life. Conscious vs unconscious goals. Jen shares a story of where her “overachiever” came from. How she saw Achievement as equally love. The importance of listening to your heart. Jen shares the 4 stages to transformation from her new book – “Power of a Peaceful Woman” and some exercise for you to practice. Awareness – what is it and how to create it? Acceptance Area of Control Actualization Jen shares a few exercises to get you started, and we finished off the conversation with these heartfelt words from Jen: No matter the question, LOVE is the answer. Stress, Overwhelm & Acceptance
Learning to accept whatever is happening in your life can be very challenging and its usually where we find the most suffering. Today Katie and I have a conversation around stress & overwhelm and practicing acceptance. Byron Katie has a book called “Loving What Is”, and she says that suffering comes from resisting what is happening in our lives. This was a huge lesson for me (Sue) and this concept helped me understand that a lot of my suffering (stress & overwhelm) came from trying to control things that were out of my control, instead of focussing on what was in my control, which was how I felt about what was happening in any moment and making the choice to see it from a different perspective. In this episode we talk about: Resisting “What Is”. Learning to accept any situation, can change the way we see it and ultimately feel about it. Looking at what we can control instead of what we can’t. Why acceptance is key to managing stress and overwhelm. What does it mean to truly accept? Creating awareness, and practicing it daily. Seeing things from a different perspective. How slowing down can help speed things up. Where is the stress? Whose stress is it? Slowing down to speed up. Is stress and overwhelm a habit? Forgiveness, self-compassion and letting go. Acceptance is also a learning opportunity. Why communicating with others is important. We share our key takeaways. You are not alone, we all experience this. In this episode we talk about: What is a trigger? Are they good or bad? Where do our triggers come from? What happens in our bodies when we feel triggered? The importance of listening to our bodies. Why we need to get curious about our triggers and look inwards rather than out. Why self-compassion can help when we are triggered. Where our triggers come from. Using Social Media for Positive Connection
Have you ever found yourself on social media just mindlessly scrolling and before you realise it, an hour or more has passed? It can be a massive time suck and can leave you feeling worse than when you started. I totally understand AND its not your fault, its designed to keep you hooked. But what if we become intentional about how we use it, and see it as a way to connect. We have to accept that it’s here and a part of our lives, so why not use IT, instead of it using US? In this week’s episode Katie and I talk about our own feelings about social media. We both have conflicting feelings because we can see the negative impact it is having on our lives and the lives of other people. So instead of talking about just the negative things about it we decided to share how we can live with social media and how Katie and I use it to connect, build relationships and increase positivity in our lives. After-all that’s how Katie and I met. In this episode you will hear: What we both love about it and how we use it in our own lives and businesses. Positivity versus negativity. Why do we even have social media and why are we using it? Why it’s so important to be mindful when using it. Is it really creating authentic connection or more isolation? How we believe it’s become a habit rather than a conscious choice. Why it’s important to do a social media cleanse/declutter. How we are intentional about who we allow into our space/minds. How Sue uses it for self-growth by noticing when she is triggered. Why we have a fear of removing ourselves from a page/group. Our tips on how we use it. How we show up in our truth when we feel connected. Why we believe being intentional is key to using social media. If you enjoyed this episode, we would love to hear about it. This conversation was amazing, and Christine shares her story from working in a high paying corporate job doing what she thought she “should” be doing, to connecting into her heart, taking a leap and becoming an entrepreneur and having fun doing it. I loved this conversation so much and Christine just has a way of talking that is engaging and open hearted. A big takeaway from this conversation was about connecting to your heart, and trusting your instincts. She also says you need to have a strong belief in yourself, and don’t look for others to believe in your vision, and the importance of surrounding yourself with positive people who are going to lift you up.
