S7 E7 – Faith of Foccale Safety Management
Faith has had first hand experience of the potential dangers in a manual handling workplace and has worked in a variety of businesses including textiles and manufacturing. When Faith emigrated to Australia to she began working at a cotton gin and from there her interest in safety and the consequences of safety processes in the workplace grew. While working in human resources in the 2000’s Faith was assisted with WHS claims and compliance and began training at the University of Newcastle. Around 2010 Faith setup Foccale Safety Management and has been helping businesses in Newcastle and beyond ever since. Faith is also a guest contributor to local news and Verge Safety Barriers Safety Ideas Blog.

Jenny continues to pursue further education at University to better understand how to help her clients and support them with their health and well-being.

S7 E5 – George of Send Out Cards
Today George is the host of the daily Merewether surf report but he grew up in Africa where he spent his formative years where he found a love of surfing. In 1981 he decided Australia would be the best place to move to because of the lifestyle and beaches. Importantly at the time Newcastle was the best city south of Brisbane for surfing beaches. He started working on his Send Out Cards business and built it to a great recurring income and enjoyed the results of that even today. More recently he has renewed enthusiasm for the impact that a thoughtful card can have on the recipient and makes a habit of sending out cards to give people moment of joy and appreciation. Part of his daily gift to the world are cards to people he knows and thinks of.

S7 E4 – Gav of Newcastle Insurance Group
Gav travelled once he was free to do so through out he world, eventually taking up a job offer in Auckland, New Zealand with a retail insurance agency and met his wife. As time progressed he decided to return to Australia and work in insurance for high net worth clients homes and vehicles in Sydney. More recently Gav moved to Newcastle and soon founded his business Newcastle Insurance Group at age 44 bringing his immense experience to bear in advising his clients.

After more than a decade of working in higher education for international students Kellen took an opportunity to move to Newcastle to further her work. As her familiarity with Newcastle and the property market and the process of buying houses she started working with Richard the founder of Fortune Property Finder. Newcastle Australia is a popular destination for university students and property investors. Elaine grew up in Newcastle, Merewether and has spent much of her career in the capitals of Australia. With her education beginning at the University of Queensland followed by time working with the tax office and government in Brisbane, Sydney, France, Luxembourg, the European Commission in Brussels and Australian Government in Canberra Australia. The best and most interesting policy work for Australian law happens in Canberra where Elaine was for some time and established a deeper understanding of policy and the people that make it. Elaine founded Unravelling Red Tape in 2018 to create a focus on helping small businesses and organisations approach and work with government of all levels for policy advocacy and change.

Margaret moved her life from the Chicago to Australia and married surf club president Nick on Merewether Beach. Margaret brought her enthusiasm for fitness and yoga with her to the sun soaked beaches of Newcastle. Margaret along with David and other members of the Merewether Surf Life Saving Club founded Yoga at Merewether; a thriving yoga group in Merewether.
