Our podcast today features Emilia Lahti, a Finnish ultra runner.  Emilia will run 50 marathons in 50 days across the length of NZ in November and December 2017 to highlight the human rights issue of interpersonal violence. Her campaign, Sisu not silence, is a story of courage, healing and pushing through in the face of adversity.  An incredible woman with boundless energy and empathy, Emilia shares her story and asks that we become part of her global movement to stamp out the pervasive culture of violence against women and children.

10: Olympic Gold Medallist Heather Stanning on confidence, building a team and the power of perserverance
We are so excited to be talking with Heather Stanning, MBE; a two time Olympic gold medalist.  Heather has been ranked number 1 female rower in the world since 2016. She is a double Olympic champion, double World champion, quadruple World Cup champion and double European champion. As of May 2015 she and her partner Helen Glover are the World, Olympic, World Cup and European record holders, plus the reigning Olympic, World, and European champions in the women's coxless pairs. She has also been a British champion in both women's fours and quad sculls. She was a Captain, now a Major, in the 32nd Regiment Royal Artillery. Paired with Helen Glover in 2012, she won an Olympic gold medal, the first for their country of the 2012 Games and the first ever British Olympic gold medal in women's rowing. She set the world record time in partnership with Helen Glover at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, and they retained their World title at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in France. In 2016 they retained their European title at Brandenburg an der Havel, and set the World Rowing Cup record time at Poznan. She announced her retirement from rowing in November 2016. In September 2016, Stanning was awarded the freedom of the Scottish region of Moray.

Hayley King (aka Flox) is a graffiti artist with a fine art degree. She works with spray paint and stencil, creating delicate, detailed images inspired by the natural world. She is most noted for her work with beautiful birds, featuring New Zealand plants, exotic animals, and lush flora.  In her business Haus of Flox she produces prints, murals, graphic design, live painting, exhibitions and did a notable stint with the musical collective Fly My Pretties. She has been featured in numerous high profile magazines, advertising campaigns and did two guest appearances in consecutive years on The Block television series. Last year travelled to Taiwan as the recipient of the Taipei Artist Village residency. We'll be talking to Hayley about her transition from street artist to business owner, motherhood, work/life balance and her rise to nationally acclaimed NZ icon.
