Strength & Resilience - Episode 7 - Sue Higgins
This episode includes some upsetting content. In the studio with me is the wonderful Sue Higgins. She volunteers for The Compassionate Friends and organisation supporting bereaved parents and their families. Sue herself experienced the loss of her son Jonathan when he was not quite six years old. She is an incredibly strong and resilient mother and I am honoured to have had the privilege of sharing her story here.

Strength & Resilience - Episode 6 - Alison Petty
From Wheelchair to Rock Climbing to Coaching. So honoured to have the incredible Alison Petty mindset coach in the studio. In this episode Alison shares her incredible journey of recovery from ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia and her transition into coaching. She is passionate about NLP and the human brain's ability to create positive change. Alison shares lots of powerful insights including visualisation and how the brain reacts if we replace destructive thoughts with positive thoughts. However NLP isn't magic fairy dust, Alison had to work super hard to make her transition, huge respect to her for her resilience and ability to keep going. Just a note on sound quality, I was so in awe of Alison that I sat back in my chair and hung on her every word, as a consequence I was too far away from my mic, so at times my input is a bit wobbly and lacking in clarity, but this is Alison's story and my input isn't really required ! Check out her website here

Strength & Resilience - Episode 5 - Nicky Pattinson
Here's the fabulous Nicky Pattinson's reflections on what she would say to her 16 year old self after giving her a huge hug. "It's you that's right. One day people will look at you and they might just be glad they met you" This woman is an absolute power house despite having had more than her fair share of set backs. Her resilience has developed from recalibrating periodically, especially when working her way back from adversity. This is an uplifting episode with plenty of laughs and plenty of positivity about the future. Fundamentally Nicky wants us to find our own true selves and ignore other people's perspective of us. There is some upsetting content in this episode as Nicky shares her experiencing of losing her first child. Please reference back to Episode 2 "Brave Starts" for information on where to go for help if you are experiencing this same loss. There's also the odd swear word for which we make no apology. Where to find Nicky nicky@nickypattinson.com Nicky loves to receive emails ! website Instagram

Strength & Resilience - Episode 4 - Mike Pye
Some fantastic take aways in this episode as Mike discusses how he has developed personally, growing stronger and more resilient as he has grown his purpose driven marketing agency. One of the fundamental messages is surround yourself with supportive people, Mike speaks very highly of the coaches and mentors he has worked with over the last seven years of growth. Some interesting thoughts on understanding himself better to facilitate growth. We talk about the importance of laying good foundations for growth to enable scaling to happen without personal burn out. Mike has had to consciously let go of direct action in projects and also become much more agile in his approach, plans sometimes have to be let go not followed doggedly. He also shares how he has had to learn to work better not longer. Plenty of insights for anyone growing any type of business.

Strength & Resilience - Episode 3 - Nicola
This episode includes some potentially upsetting content. My guest Nicola is the survivor of sexual abuse and rape. Nicola is now using her rediscovered voice to help others, including those researching into how best to support other survivors. Support services referenced in the episode include St Mary's Sexual Abuse Referral Centre in Manchester. There are SARC centres across the UK. The biggest message to take away from this episode is; if you too have experienced abuse or rape, reach out and get help. Nicola and I met in a yoga class, she is a brilliant teacher, she supports people of any age to make gradual progress towards a stronger mind and body. More information about her teaching and classes on Nicola Moves You - on instagram. Nicola is the embodiment of strength and resilience. I am honoured and privileged to share her story.

Brave Starts
In this episode I chat with the amazing Lucy The company she has founded supports individuals to make changes to their career path when the traditional road is to a purposeless retirement. Lucy also works with organisations to help them avoid the skills drain which happens when people with valuable experience and knowledge plan to leave. Lucy is taking positive action to fill the skills gap whilst others offer only platitudes. She has bucket loads of energy and incredible resilience. Towards the end of the episode we hear where this resilience comes from. This part of the podcast contains content which might be distressing to some.

Powder Blue Suits
Although this episode doesn't go quite to plan for a number of reasons, it's a wonderful chat with the founder of Mantra Media the delightful Johnny Pawlik. It starts with a failed attempt to record Johnny playing guitar and moves into a discussion about acceptance. We also chat about that old chestnut work life balance, along with some thoughts on how to live your life with purpose. Is there any such thing as work life balance ?
Just one of many questions posed in this lovely conversation with the best selling author of Survival Skills for Freelancers the amazing Sarah Townsend. We talk about Sarah's career journey, her writing process, mentoring, bird watching and much much more. I loved recording this episode, despite the fact that we have never actually met nor had a conversation before the recording there's lots of honesty, warmth and laughs. It's yet another big up to the Freelanceher100 programme where we both mentored that such fantastic friendships have been formed.

Growing a Bakery Business
In this episode I'm all alone in the podcast studio. Not because I've run out of guests but because I recently did a business talk and thought it would be good to share it in the studio. I turned around a bakery business whilst being a single parent to three strong independent young women. Here's some thoughts on the things I know now, that I don't know if I would have known had I not grown my own business. There's also some thoughts from my daughters on what the experience was like for them. You may want to pop your headphones on if there are children present. There's just the odd ***.

Excitable and Manic People
Introducing the amazing Gary Nightingale https://www.linkedin.com/in/garynightingalebusinessillustration/ Lots of lovely sound bites in this episode as we ramble around how Gary's work has changed in the last year then move into conversations around the creative processes involved in writing. "Looking optimistically to the future by looking realistically to the past. " Gary and I met through storytelling and both enjoy spending time and connecting with people who ignite something meaningful in us. If that makes us excitable and manic then so be it ! The episode also features a silent dog.

The Power of Storytelling
A lovely Friday afternoon conversation from my kitchen table. Stefano Capacchione and I share some giggles and also some deep moments as we discuss the super powers of storytelling. One for anyone in business struggling to find their audience or anyone looking to put pen to paper to tell their story. As Stefano says, use words to communicate in a way that leads your audience "to think, feel and take action." Sound quality not always the best but I'm ever the fan of substance over form! https://www.linkedin.com/in/stefanocapacchione/ https://puckcreations.com/
