Episode 86 - Highlander (1986)
Cooper and Nolan are making their bid for immortality this week, as they cover legendary 80s movie HIGHLANDER! From unfortunate casting (Sean Connery as a Spanish Egyptian) to terrible acting (the kind that makes you wonder how someone ever had a career) to the vaguely sexual nature of the quickening (is it just us?), there's an entire lifetime's worth of things to talk about. Throw in a soundtrack from Queen (don't get your hopes up) and you've got a recipe for something truly special. Better gather round; this episode (featuring a beer from Highlander Brew Co.) is one you might just lose your head over.
58 minutes | Mar 8, 2023
Episode 85 - Spice World (1997)
It's International Women's Day, so Cooper and Nolan are handing the podcast over to their wives for a different perspective on a unique piece of 90s nostalgia - SPICE WORLD! More time capsule than coherent story, this movie perfectly captures a cultural moment that our guest hosts experienced firsthand. But there's more to this than just memories, as the girls cover topics like: - Does this have a plot? - 90s fashion is back! - How to properly address the Spice Girls - Name that British Celebrity - Lyrics that didn't age well ...and yet another round of "Who's the real hero of this movie?" The girl power is on full display, so get ready to sing along; this episode (featuring a beer from the Bobcaygeon Brewing Company) will definitely spice up your life.

Episode 84 - The Howling (1981)
There's a full moon out on the podcast tonight, and Cooper and Nolan have returned from their mid-season break to talk about THE HOWLING! This early Joe Dante movie may be beloved by horror fans, but is it more of a dog than a wolf? The guys aren't sure, especially since the quality of the effects, music, and acting all vary WILDLY from scene to scene (pun intended). But that doesn't mean it wasn't a good time, thanks in no small part to a surprising amount of sexual content. So if you're feeling frisky, let your fur down! This episode (featuring a beer from Rusty Rail Brewing) is one you'll want to sink your teeth into.
60 minutes | Feb 17, 2023
BONUS Episode - Pumping Iron (1977)
Cooper and Nolan are working off some winter weight in this very special BONUS EPISODE, as they get into PUMPING IRON! This 1970s bodybuilding documentary may have introduced the world to Arnold Schwarzenegger, but it also provided the guys with a ton of laughs and some pretty ridiculous theories. Theories like: - Did Arnold Schwarzenegger invent prison workout culture? - Was Lou Ferrigno secretly in love with him? - Do bodybuilders get literal workout boners? ...and perhaps most importantly, was this entire documentary staged? There's so much to cover that you won't know whether you're coming or going (although it's VERY clear what Arnold's doing), so oil yourself up and hope for the best; this episode (featuring a classic beer from the Pittsburgh Brewing Company) is truly something to behold.
46 minutes | Dec 28, 2022
Episode 83 - Cobra (1986)
Cooper and Nolan are feeling snakebit this week when they cross paths with COBRA! This VERY stereotypical 80s action movie runs less than 90 minutes, which explains why the guys have so much time for after talk. What CAN'T be explained is why they spend so much time talking about how tight Sylvester Stallone's pants are. It definitely isn't because of a lack of action, what with the plentiful amounts of car chases, gunshots and Stallone-penned dialogue - all brought to you from the fine folks at Cannon Films. Either way, there's no hard feelings here; where the law stops, this episode (featuring a beer from Ever Grain Brewing Company) starts!
59 minutes | Dec 24, 2022
Episode 82 - Black Christmas (1974)
The call is coming from inside the house this week, as Cooper and Nolan celebrate BLACK CHRISTMAS! This OG slasher is a Canadian classic that has retroactively been called a landmark of horror cinema, but that same 2022 hindsight is forcing the guys to ask questions like... - How old-looking is too old-looking to play someone in their early 20s? - Have cell phones made things easier or harder for serial killers? - Is John Saxon the Tom Atkins of horror movies? Throw in some unrelated talk about abortion and what you can reasonably expect when your daughter goes to college, and you've got a Christmas you'll never forget. So grab a Christmas beer (or 12) and lock the attic door; this episode (featuring beers from Whiprsnapr Brewing Co. and Cured Craft Brewing) is a ho-ho-whole lot of fun!
21 minutes | Dec 24, 2022
2022 Christmas Beer Draft!
In this very special BONUS EPISODE, Cooper and Nolan unbox (and unwrap) the 12 Days of Unfiltrd Beermas Advent Calendar from Whiprsnapr Brewing Co. After revealing all twelve (and discovering this year's secret theme), the guys draft their beer roster for today's BLACK CHRISTMAS episode. With six Christmas-themed beers each (plus two other beers that Nolan forgot about), it's going to be a very merry Christmas!
49 minutes | Dec 16, 2022
Episode 81 - Miami Connection (1987)
Cooper and Nolan are taking a Florida vacation this week when they check out MIAMI CONNECTION! Written, starring, casted and partly directed by local Tae Kwon Do legend Y.K. Kim, this 80s regional cinema delight is a perfect example of what happens when a man with a dream finds someone willing to fund it.  Amazingly, the combination of enthusiastic amateurs, bargain basement special effects, and positively-themed original songs produced something that's truly hilarious, which probably explains why clips of this movie have been passed around the internet ever since the internet was a thing. Bottom line? This is an absolute must-see from the Sunshine State, so come on down; this episode (featuring a beer from Cigar City Brewing) is a connection you won't want to miss!
53 minutes | Dec 9, 2022
Episode 80 - Tammy and the T-Rex (1994)
Cooper and Nolan are transplanting themselves into a truly bizarre piece of 90s moviemaking this week - it's TAMMY AND THE T-REX! Originally titled "Tanny and the Teenage T-Rex", this twisted teen romance was HEAVILY censored to get a PG-13 rating. But thanks to the mad scientists at Vinegar Syndrome, the guys are enjoying ALL the gore (and there's lots). The result is an absolutely insane comedy/sci-fi/horror/romance about a high school cheerleader and an animatronic dinosaur containing the brain of her murdered boyfriend.  Sound like a lot to handle? You have no idea, so prepare to get prehistoric. This episode (featuring a beer from Oozlefinch Beers & Blending) proves that once you go dino, you don't go back!
57 minutes | Dec 3, 2022
Episode 79 - Motel Hell (1980)
Cooper and Nolan are trying not to buy the farm this week when they check into MOTEL HELL! This horror/comedy hybrid is packed with incredible 80s effects, iconic imagery, and more than a few genuinely creepy moments. No wonder it quickly became a cult classic! Still, that won't stop the guys from making fun of some of the more...simple aspects of this movie - including a performance so awful that it might deserve a spot on the bad acting Mt. Rushmore. So get ready to take a big bite out of this episode; it takes all kinds of critters (and a beer from Meuse Brewing) to make Cooper and Nolan's podcast!
59 minutes | Nov 28, 2022
Episode 78 - Super Mario Bros. (1993)
Cooper and Nolan (and resident Nintendo expert Producer John) are going for 8-bit glory this week, when they load up SUPER MARIO BROS.!  Every kid in the early 90s was insanely excited for this one when it was announced. Unfortunately for the guys' 10-year old selves, the producers made some EXTREMELY strange choices in terms of plot, costumes, and how faithful they should stay to the video game. The result is an insane fever dream that makes the guys wish they had a warp whistle to travel ANYWHERE else. So hold on tight; this episode (featuring a beer from Block Three Brewing Company) might just be going down the tubes.
49 minutes | Nov 21, 2022
Episode 77 - Teen Wolf (1985)
Cooper and Nolan are unleashing the beast this week when they talk TEEN WOLF! Is this fondly remembered 80s movie a thinly veiled puberty metaphor, a shameless attempt to cash in on Michael J. Fox's Back to the Future success, or just a PG attempt at raucous teen comedy? All of the above! Or at least that's what the guys make a case for when they aren't busy breaking down what might be the worst basketball scenes ever committed to film. Feeling frisky? Then don't be shy; this episode (featuring a beer from the Sons of Kent Brewing Co.) will make you howl with delight!
55 minutes | Nov 11, 2022
Episode 76 - Truck Turner (1974)
Cooper and Nolan are delivering incredible 70s action this week with the Blaxploitation classic TRUCK TURNER! Starring legendary soul singer Isaac Hayes as the titular bounty hunter and Nichelle Nichols (aka Lt. Uhura from Star Trek) as the leader of a stable of hookers who wants him dead, this piece of low-budget movie magic is almost too ridiculous for words (but here's four: pimp funeral, bedazzled eyepatch). Did this world ever actually exist? The guys aren't sure, but they're thrilled to be going along for the ride. So why not hop in? This episode (featuring a beer from Henderson Brewing Co.) is carrying a full shipment of good times!
52 minutes | Nov 4, 2022
Episode 75 - Streets of Fire (1984)
Cooper and Nolan are turning up the heat this week with STREETS OF FIRE! Armed with a killer soundtrack and a before-they-were-star-studded cast, a lot of people thought this movie had a chance to be something great. And maybe - in another time, another place - it could have, but apparently NOT in 1984. The guys may never agree on what caused this one to fail (Bad acting? B-movie vibes? Too many motorcycle explosions?), but they both agree that it deserved better. So get ready to take it to the streets! This episode (featuring a beer from the Old Flame Brewing Co.) is one you'll want to sing about.
54 minutes | Oct 27, 2022
Episode 74 - Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
Cooper and Nolan are headed for horror again this week, as they celebrate their third Halloween (and the 40th anniversary of the movie) with HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH! It's a strange sort-of-sequel that offers both tricks (terrible acting, a nonsensical plot, no Michael Myers) AND treats (a surprisingly good ending, horror legend Tom Atkins, horror legend Tom Atkins' moustache), but how does it stack up to other 80s horror movies the guys have watched? The answer may surprise you, so expect the unexpected; this episode (featuring a beer from The Second Wedge Brewing Company) is one for all seasons!
53 minutes | Oct 23, 2022
Episode 73 - Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
James Bond is BACK on the podcast this week, as Cooper and Nolan take a close look at DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER! Widely considered one of the very worst movies in the history of the franchise, Sean Connery's return to the 007 role was anything but triumphant. IN FACT... with the campiness dialed up to 11, this one feels more like a Roger Moore Bond movie (or like the old Batman TV show). Maybe that's why the guys feel like Connery is phoning in his performance, or maybe he was just uncomfortable with the sexy bodyguards with cartoon names, villainous henchmen who might be more than friends, and drag-wearing evil "genius" he's up against. Either way, there's plenty of questionable content to cover; this episode (featuring a beer from Muddy York Brewing Co.) is a sparkling example of a big-budget movie making mistake!
57 minutes | Oct 14, 2022
Episode 72 - Nightmare Beach (1989)
Cooper and Nolan are hitting the beach for some pre-Halloween horror this week with a movie that perfectly sums up the 80s... NIGHTMARE BEACH! This low budget slasher was (allegedly) made by at least one Italian director who - based on the ridiculous number of clichés and stock characters - was clearly watching a LOT of American TV. But that didn't stop him/them from filling south Florida with surprisingly respectable amounts of blood, gore, and electrocution, all while creating a movie that's basically adult Scooby Doo. Sound crazy? You have no idea, so get ready for a spring break you'll never forget; this episode (featuring a beer from Black Bellows Brewing Co.) is one nightmare you won't want to wake up from!
60 minutes | Oct 7, 2022
Episode 71 - Double Team (1997)
This week Cooper and Nolan are balling out with a movie that's at least twice as ridiculous as the last Jean Claude Van Damme movie they covered... DOUBLE TEAM! As if casting Dennis Rodman as JCVD's mismatched buddy (and allowing him to sing on the soundtrack) wasn't confusing enough, the producers fill the screen with so many abnormally large explosions, pieces of broken glass, and nameless characters shooting at each other that it becomes practically impossible to tell what's going on. But don't worry, they also manage to include literally every action movie cliché you can think of. It's a complete mess of a movie, but one that the guys were THRILLED to receive as an audience request. So get ready to join the team; this episode (featuring a beer from Double Trouble Brewing Co.) is one that doesn't play by the rules!
58 minutes | Sep 28, 2022
Episode 70 - Voyage of the Rock Aliens (1984)
The guitar-shaped spaceship has landed this week with VOYAGE OF THE ROCK ALIENS! This new-wave curiosity is a bright, fun, synth-filled musical that absolutely screams 80s, but it's also FILLED with sexual innuendo - either that or Cooper and Nolan's brains are still stuck in last week's steamy Basic Instinct 2 episode. Either way, you're going to want to come along for the genre-bending ride; this episode (featuring a beer from R. Shea Brewing) is a voyage that's DEFINITELY worth taking.
49 minutes | Sep 21, 2022
Episode 69 - Basic Instinct 2 (2006)
This week Cooper and Nolan are celebrating their 69th episode by taking a risqué ride with BASIC INSTINCT 2! 14 years after the shocking events of the original, Sharon Stone is back to prove that older women can still be sexy. But can older women carry almost 2 hours of movie without help from Michael Douglas and director Paul Verhoeven? If you've seen this then you already know the answer, but there's still plenty of ridiculous things to talk about and inappropriate jokes to be made (not to mention a beer selection that Ms. Stone would probably *NOT* appreciate from Country Boy Brewing). It's going to be a steamy good time, so ditch your inhibitions and get ready to dive in; this episode is a risk you won't regret taking!
