Is the T Transitioning Out of LGBT?
When it comes to the referring to larger “gay” or “queer” community (and I’m using air quotes here), most people and organizations have settled on the acronym LGBT, or Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. While each of these individuals are not identical, nor do they sometimes even share some of the same characteristics, they have found themselves grouped together as one collective community. But why is that? And what are the benefits of the collective versus the individual, or rather the collective and the splintering off of one particular segment of that community? There is an ongoing debate as to whether transgender people really belong in the same category as the rest of the community. So tonight we are going to discuss that. Does the T truly fit in the acronym and why...or is the T transitioning out of LGBT?   Joining us tonight to discuss this issue are two special guests--Percy Cramer and Christian Heck. Table Talk with Comedian Reggie Jackson
When people hear the name Reggie Jackson they usually think about a black man that hits home runs, not a white woman that tells jokes. Originally from Virginia, Reggie moved to Atlanta in 2005, and very quickly found her knack for making people laugh. Aside from performing stand-up, Jackson is also a member of the interactive sketch comedy group, Call Me Up. The path to comedy that David Young took may be an unusual one, if there is such thing as a usual path to comedy. Originally out of Virginia, David moved to Atlanta in 2011 to pursue his passions in film and sound engineering: behind the scenes of showbusiness. When he took a job running sound at a comedy club, he began to develop his ear for the timing and subject matter that led him to perform on stage. Drawing upon his experiences in international travel and the entertainment industry's hidden quirks, David flashes his unique perspective through the lens of his laid-back, cartoon-like voice. Tune in each Tuesday night as Reggie and Dave take on the tables of some of the hottest restaurants in Atlanta. Murders, violence, harmful and ignorant legislation… It is often hard to remember the great things that members of our community are doing in spite of all of this. Homeschooling as a Single Mom- #YesYouCan
I can’t tell you how many times I felt out of place at conferences and workshops because all of the homeschool families around me were two parent families.  I mean everyone was friendly but it was something inside of me that said “you don’t belong here”.  Then I found your blog and realized not only YES I BELONG here but there’s another SINGLE PARENT HOMESCHOOL MOM and if she can do this then so can I!! In this episode, I talk one-on-one with LaToya about her journey into homeschooling as a single mom.  And guess what—there are a lot of us out there who are single moms and homeschooling. #SingleHomeschoolMomsUnite   Sites Mentioned in This Episode Site:  http://LaToyaedwards.net (http://LaToyaedwards.net) Site: http://ihomeschoolnetwork.com (http://ihomeschoolnetwork.com) Episode Sponsorship http://understood.org (http://understood.org)   Questions about The Unschool Homeschool podcast: Email: annise@back2usradio.com Produced by Voice Republic For more podcasts visit http://voicerepublic.com

Why We Love Scouting with Pack 354
I have been a member of Pack354 in Conyers, GA since my son was in the 2nd grade. It was the best decision that I made at probably one of the most chaotic times of my life.  The parents of this pack surrounded my family at the time when we needed them the most.  We were strangers in this small little town that I now know has a heart the size of Texas! So tonight I got the opportunity to share my love of podcasting with the boys and I even captured some of their responses.  And we all know that no meeting is complete without the BOOM CHICKA BOOM song. Thank you Pack354 for being who you are in our community. The Trans Sexual Experience
Trigger Warning: We will be talking about our personal experiences tonight and as with most topics on this show, we’re not always certain what roads this conversation might lead down. We’re going to do our best to keep this PG-13, but we want to warn folks that if someone feels compelled to share a negative experience, we are certainly not going to squelch that. Very often trans* people are reduced. They are reduced to their names, their pronouns, their parts and their surgeries. Trans* people are constantly subject to inappropriate questions, assumptions and stereotypes about any number of experiences in their lives: not least of which are our sexual experiences. Being constantly surrounded by those speculations and expectations can and often do invariably affect how trans* and gender non-conforming people view themselves in the context of what is being touted as the norm. So tonight we’re going to talk about that. We’re going to talk about those experiences and societal assumptions and what impact they have played on trans* lives. Support for Homeschoolers with Special Needs
This was a special episode of The Unschool Homeschool--I had my first guest! Hicunni Chandler is the Executive Director of the Home Educators Special Needs Alliance and she joins me today to talk about how the alliance was formed, her journey to the path of the Executive Director, and the first annual special needs conference. Conferences are always packed with great information; and, it can create a sense of information overload. The goal of the Home Educators Special Needs Alliance Conference is to assist parents in navagiting through the resources and methods to transition this information into our individual homeschools. Conference attendees will receive strategies that they can implement immediately. "We do not have all of the answers, but we are here to connect families with the resources and some ideas on how to make the homeschool day flow a little easier." Curriculum and the Special Education Homeschool Student  You all know that I am a huge fan of Time4Learning (http://time4learning.com) because it Proceeds at the students own pace. Builds on existing reading, writing and math skills. Testing and the Special Education Homeschool Student Most states require you to administer some type of standardized test to your homeschool student.  In Georgia, you are required to evaluate your student using a standardized test every three years starting in the 3rd grade.  I highly recommend Grogg Educational Consulting. The Unschooling of Dr. Mabry
This podcast is about my journey into becoming a homeschool mom.  We are not the typical homeschool family.  I am a divorced single mom of two special needs children who chose to homeschool rather than continue to try to jump through the hurdles of the public education system.   My daughter, who is 16, has been homeschooled since she was 12 (minus the 7 months that she went to a private school but that’s another podcast episode).  She completed 4 years of high school in 2 years and has been a dual enrollment student attending the local college FOR FREE since she was 15.  This year, at 16, she is graduating from high school and she will enter college as a second semester sophomore.  Do you know how much this is saving me in tuition!!  You can do this too and I will tell you how! Each week, I will take a question that I received from my Homeschool Advice site and I will answer the question on air.  I will also share my recommendations about curriculum and resources with you as well as feature a unique homeschool parody song with a link to the YouTube channel.    This week, the family that I am featuring is CMM680. Here is the link for their YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIOogqa-5GA Now that you know why I’ve decided to launch the newest podcast, I need your help!
