We hear from four that have worked and work in the aviation industry on how attitudes need to change to enable jobs security in the aviation industry; constraint now will ensure the future of the aviation industry

KEYNOTE SPEAKER ON SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT, ENVIRONMENT AND AIR QUALITY Baroness Jenny Jones place was taken by Zack Polanski a member of the London Assembly and chair of Londons's Environment Committee.  The Clean Air Bill would ensure that people could challenge any expansion of airports that led to an increase in air pollution, such as the ultra-fine particulates associated with aviation, that can infiltrate their way into people's internal organs. Their view is that airports wishing to expand must meet the strict standards that they say are possible with new technologies, before they are allowed to expand. The issues of air pollution and the climate emergency are linked, as the solution to one is often a solution to the other.

Talk 2 with John Stewart of the UK Noise Association - NOISE: THE CINDERELLA POLLUTANT AND ITS FORGOTTEN VICTIMS Noise affects more people in their day-to-day lives than probably any other pollutant, yet it is downplayed by many in authority who dismiss it as no more than a local issue. We will look at the health and quality-of-life implications of noise. We will consider why the authorities get away with side-lining such an important pollutant but also explore ways in which communities can make noise an issue.

Tim Johnson of AEF gives an insight into the international thinking of aviation on how they can decarbonise and what can work and what is a concern in relation to the impact aviation is having on global warming.

CAGNE, the umbrella aviation community and environment group for Sussex, Surrey and Kent, organised for the Head of Airspace Strategy and Engagement to attend a meeting online so that residents could ask questions about the issues with airspace now, the plans Gatwick has for a 2nd runway and growth, as well as the government policy to modernise the airspace.
