023 Albert Gonzales - Post-Contemporary Artist/Painter
Albert Gonzales is a post-contemporary artist based in San Antonio, TX. He is heavily influenced by post- WWII artists like Jackson Pollock, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, but also draws inspiration from the masters like Henri Matisse and Van Gogh.  With this broad range of inspirations, Gonzales’s fine art approaches are visual experiments within composition, style, and technique.  From abstraction to still life to portraits, his art can span multiple genres.  With bold color palettes, his often “outrageous” paintings are fun and unpredictable. As a great commentator on his own art style, his showmanship brings forth the passion for his art and his need to create. His audience is able to see and feel his dearest dedication to craft.  With his paintings, he hopes to reflect a feeling of liveliness and compassion for the love he has for the visual arts.  Gonzales wants the audience to feel this feeling if only for a second; but touched and moved for a lifetime.  Albert Gonzales’s accolades include the “Step Inside My Mind” solo exhibition; “Hecho A Mano” group exhibition at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center;  participating artist in the highly anticipated On and Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tours with the Bihl Haus Gallery; operating an artist studio in the coveted Hausmann Millworks collective run by Gene and Renee Hausmann and managed by Rex Hausmann; artist participant in a city- wide art project for a non-profit organization titled,  Clarity in the Pin Wheels for Change campaign where he painted alongside 16 other internationally and nationally renowned artists.  Having sold over a hundred paintings in one year, Gonzales’s list of prominent collectors and collections include the acquisition of seven paintings into the UTSA Art Collection by the invitation of President, Dr. Ricardo Romo. Gonzales has also donated artwork to the UTSA Alumni Gala and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Best known for his simplistically minimal abstract flower paintings, Gonzales gives voice to the new and upcoming generation of artists of San Antonio.

021 Darian Thomas - Interdisciplinary Artist
Some of Darian's favorite quotes "I remember wondering whether I was frightened, and deciding that I was not." - George Orwell "A concert is not a sermon. It is a performance - a reincarnation of a series of ideas implicit in the work of art." - Aaron Copland "Be very sensitive to where you are, in what times and in what parts of the world, and how that constitutes the artistic practice." - Olafur Eliasson "An inward singing, and not an inward feeling, prompts a gifted person to compose a musical piece." - Eduard Hanslick "I'm not sure what to do, so I'll just write some love to you."  -David Bowie "You see, if you don't take money: they can't tell you what to do, kid. That's the key to the whole thing: Don't. Touch. Money." -Bill Cunningham "If you're writing music for other composers, I think there's something a little bit sad about that..."  - Nico Muhly "Bubble/Air: No, see that's what's so great: Now, we can be together: forever, BMO. Every minute of Every Day. No more Privacy. No more Quiet, no more alone. Every room you ever go in, I'll already be there. Waiting. Forever: and ever. Until the End of Time. B-MO: YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!" Air and B-MO season 5 ep. 17 of Adventure Time...  "Our differences ARE settled. He's dead, and I ain't."  - Eustace Bagge "Parentheses in literature and dentistry are in bad taste."  - Mark Twain "To send light into the darkness of men's hearts - such is the duty of the artist."  - Robert Schumann "You can never be overdressed or over educated."  - Oscar Wilde "Dude, sucking at something is the first step to being sortof good at something." - Jake, the Shapeshifting Dog "Ice King: 'Marriage is a thing that allows me to capture a princess forever and let her live inside of me! ... Marriage is the most Beautiful thing in the world!' Finn: 'Uuuuh.... Yeah I- I never- uhh...Ye- I... Guess it is! O_o' " "You just kissed a Boom Boom baby. So don't expect any more sugar from me Sweetheart until we wash your dirty, dirty face."  - Jake the Shapeshifting Dog's Dad "Darian Thomas: violinist, composer, conductor, professor, critic, and consummate troll. "  - Aaron Schwarz Today is the tomorrow that you were worried about Yesterday, was it worth it? "[Time] is the mosoleum of all hope and despair."  - Faulkner "Give me success or take this desire away from me. One of the two."  - Mike Tetreault "The preliminary differentiation of musical categories by means of this reasonable and usable criterion of "degree of determinacy" offends those who take it to be a definition of qualitative categories, which-of course-it need not always be. Curiously, their demurrers usually take the familiar form of some such "democratic" counter definition as: "There is no such thing as 'serious' and 'popular' music." There is only 'good' and 'bad' music." As a public service, let me offer those who still patiently await the revelation of the criteria of Absolute Good an alternative criterion which possesses, at least, the virtue of immediate and irrefutable applicability: "There is no such thing as 'serious' and 'popular' music. There is only music whose title begins with the letter 'X,' and music whose title does not." " - Milton Babbitt
