The Arrow of Time – A Doctor Who Podcast

163 Episodes

57 minutes | Nov 26, 2018
148 – The Lonely Ex-Assassins of Punjab
Hey everyone!  That’s right we’re back once again with another podcast!  This time we’re talking about a tear-jerking episode, “The Demons of Punjab,” once again featuring some misunderstood not-so-monsters of the week.  Listen as we try to recount all the greatest moments of the episode, draw parallels with the world of today, and try to guess where the series will continue to go from here. For your WhoTube pleasure be sure to check out the latest and greatest called Thirteenth Doctor: We Can Evolve by user Grindewaldxedits
85 minutes | Nov 20, 2018
147 – The Tsunami Condominium
“The TREsemme Conditioner?”  “The Tyrion Canister?”  I don’t know, one of those may or may not be correct.  But one thing sure is, we recorded another episode about Doctor Who, and here it is!  Right back to our night schedule shenanigans!  So watch out for those sonic bombs we’ll be dropping all through the show, curl up in your coolest Doctor Who wear, and guzzle some podcast juice because The Arrow of Time is underway!  Not to be confused with Arrows of Time, oh you’ll see… or rather hear. Don’t get ejected from your starship without checking out this delightful WhoTube fan creation called Thirteenth Doctor: Walk by user Jula Misiak. (Yes, we know it’s “The Tsuranga Conundrum.” Probably.)
46 minutes | Nov 11, 2018
146 – The Giant Spider Invasion
I’m one of those people who likes memes promising to burn down the house when one sees a black widow spider. So, I was understandably anxious when they announced “Arachnids in the UK.” In the end, this fear would be surpassed by the only thing I hate more than spiders: rich American men who like building hotels and have plans to run for president. Can our group of friends overcome these odds and save the day? My spidey sense says yes! Also, spoilers, I’ve seen the episode, as should have you if you’re listening to podcasts about it!
48 minutes | Nov 2, 2018
145 – A Rosa By Any Other Name
It’s been a while since Doctor Who meant something beyond how clever the show runner could be (or thought they were). And certainly we’ve encountered historical figures before, but perhaps none so influential as Rosa Parks.  The most recent episode “Rosa” might be from our friends across the pond, but they leave no doubt that she changed the world… and beyond. Forgive us if we eschew some of our usual jokey times fun – even The Arrow of Time can be serious, especially when an episode set in the past all too clearly highlights the issues of today.
60 minutes | Oct 27, 2018
144 – The Doctor and the Deathly Rags
It’s once again time for another podcast from the gents at The Arrow of Time.  This week we talk about the 2nd episode of series 11 “The Ghost Monument,” aka “Space Race,” aka “Another Forbidden Planet.”  Who will win the cup in the tournament of podcasting?  Spoilers: it’s all of us because equal winnings. Speaking of equal winnings, you’ll be rich with fandom once you check out “Born Again” (The Road to the Thirteenth) by Sunny Vids
71 minutes | Oct 14, 2018
143 – The Woman Who Lit Up Our Legally Acquired Content
The Arrow of Time is back once again to talk about some Who!  All the new Who content you can handle, which right now is exactly one episode.  We discuss the fabulous Jodie Whittaker and her take on Doc number 13, we also compare the new show runner Chibnall to his predecessors as well as delight in and of course criticize elements of his newly acquired show.  Don’t worry, Chibnall would totally be down with dishing out criticism. For this week’s WhoTube we are spotlighting Screen Junkies  Honest Trailers – Doctor Who (Modern) with their send up of the Doctor Who modern era. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9uOaDZDT-s
76 minutes | Apr 1, 2018
142 – The Arrow of Time’s Foolish ChrEaster Special!
Hello Arrow of Timers!  Is anyone there?  We didn’t lose you did we?  Well either way, welcome to our Foolish ChrEaster (pronounced cree-ster) special.  Basically it’s the Christmas special that we recorded 3 months ago but we’re just releasing it now on Easter, which happens to also be April Fool’s Day.  So we’re getting a bunch of holidays out in one go.  Speaking of going, we need to get more podcasts going so we can be a proper podcast again!  In the meantime, enjoy this one! Also you can enjoy this WhoTube by user Lonely Pencil called “Time Lords in Winter”: https://youtu.be/ejDaSwA5jnE
83 minutes | Jul 20, 2017
141 – The Announcement Heard Across the Internet
While Joseph sits the rest of the year out, Matt and Gabe discuss the exciting, yet oddly still controversial, announcement of the first woman to portray our beloved cell transforming  Time Lord.  Matt and Gabe delve into Jodie Whittaker’s achievements and speculate what kind of a Doctor she might be, what kind of companion she might have, and what kind of show runner Chibnall might be. For your WhoTube enjoyment, check out this amazing tribute to some of the women in Doctor Who called “Women Of Doctor Who” by Beagonfei. https://youtu.be/oRQ76FtTpTw
114 minutes | Jul 14, 2017
140 – Best Laid Plans
Much like Moffat, we had a clever plan. Also like Moffat, we didn’t execute that plan as well as we thought we would. We rushed to record a podcast for you right after the episode aired, then life got in the way of this episode’s editor. That being said, here you go dedicated Arrow of Time listener. These are our thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams after watching “The Doctor Falls.” For this week’s WhoTube, Matt found “Doctor/Master – Loving you is a bloodsport” by Graslistia Tigrish – https://youtu.be/sd0mJQgaU7g
76 minutes | Jun 30, 2017
139 – Everything’s Relative
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Season 10 (series, if you’re English) has been a breath of fresh air, and Steven Moffat has been Moffat-ing it up. Peter Capaldi has fulfilled his promise as the Doctor, and yet it’s been spoiled that his time is ending. I could keep listing things, but there’s only so much space. Ride along with us as Matt, Joseph and Gabe examine “World Enough and Time” from top to bottom. For this week’s WhoTube we have “Doctor Who Tribute – The Master of Disguise” from BabelColorApprentice – https://youtu.be/DgRW75oXyFQ
84 minutes | Jun 23, 2017
138 – Sunshine, Lollipops, and Multi-Dimensional Beasts
Saddle up everyone because the Arrow of Time team is taking on the latest of Who with “The Eaters of Light.”  And they’ll also talk about eating light, and how much of a drag it is.  Also they discuss a FAN-tastic fan theory sent in by one of OUR fans, the FANbulous Conrad Fannington!  No that’s not his actual last name, but it would be amazing if it was! For your fan made video segment of WhoTube we have “Doctor Who: The Boys Are Back In Town” by Sllittle – https://youtu.be/DRDKFQlRvr8
58 minutes | Jun 16, 2017
137 – The One That Got Away
Children get older, and we’re getting older, too. One way we can tell is that we can’t hold our liquor like we could at the beginning of the Moffat era! In any case, we had a lot of fun talking about “Empress of Mars,” and we hope you have some fun listening to us get silly on the podcast this week. For this week’s WhoTube, Matt found “11 and Companions ‘Soul Meets Body'” by bookdork1 – https://youtu.be/xFj0c0PaR_o
81 minutes | Jun 9, 2017
136 – The Feckless Monks
The fine folks at The Arrow of Time attempt to block out the overpowering radio frequencies and deliver their commentary on “The Lie of the Land,” the third installment of the Monk trilogy. We attempt to answer all those lingering questions like, “Will they use colors besides orange and blue?” or “How do you even find Walkmans these days?” and “Where is Tony Shalhoub?” For your WhoTube viewing pleasure, watch some clips of the Doctor’s more explosive moments in “Doctor Who – Live and Let Die” by Eric Storch – https://youtu.be/PW85CQMLNhk
81 minutes | Jun 1, 2017
135 – Fog of Death Planet
The week, Matt, Joseph, and Gabe get out their flashy lighty ropes to figure out all the possible outcomes of podcasting about “The Pyramid at the End of the World.”  The result is probably the best they could come up with, so hold onto your glasses and methane experiments, cause we won’t stop until the world ends. Or we run out of podcast juice. For your WhoTube enjoyment, here is “Doctor Who: The Universe Owes Me” by TheTARDISGuy203 – https://youtu.be/MI-5g8k6OVI You can also listen to this episode on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/RsY8AGV1zPM
85 minutes | May 26, 2017
134 – The Scientists and the Clergymen
Joseph, Matt, and Gabe chat about Steven Moffat’s triumphant, or at least enjoyable-but-still-plot-hole-ridden episode, “Extremis.”  I mean, this is his last season, he’s got to still be wanting to tell stories in his last ride right? Anyway before we wake up and find out that Capaldi’s whole run was just an elaborate video game, here is a delightful WhoTube by Beta Dottore called “Doctor Who: I am The Doctor” – https://youtu.be/muw6SSbVNNY You can also listen to this episode on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/cDkuDuuEYqk
96 minutes | May 17, 2017
133 – Morals and Bleakness
Today I heard some tourists complaining, “Geez, if you’re not careful crossing the street here, they will hit you and kill you!” I can’t imagine where they were visiting from, because common sense says that you should always be careful crossing the street! It’s sort of like going to space; never leave your TARDIS air bubble without looking both ways! As you may have surmised, this week we talk about “Oxygen.” Spoilers, we go through a lot of it talking about this episode! Your WhoTube this week is “Doctor WHO Fanvid-Photograph (Ed Sheeran)” by Zimeng WU: https://youtu.be/AFgMsTkiqLg You can also listen to this episode on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/aeohyIYonlc
78 minutes | May 10, 2017
132 – Something Mildly Irritating This Way Comes
Knocking on wood has many meanings. It is a way to let someone know you’re at the door. It can be a way to snag some extra luck. It is also a divisive episode of Doctor Who, at least amongst Joseph, Matt and Gabe. We probably cover almost every possible opinion of “Knock, Knock,” including an existential look at the title itself. Please have a listen and let us know your hot takes on the episode. For this week, Matt found a Who Tube from asecooper222 called “Breathe Me”: https://youtu.be/Fiyahjmr8-k You can also listen to this episode on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/zFRSBji7Jjc
73 minutes | May 3, 2017
131 – The Creature Underneath
No matter how often the current incarnation of the Doctor tries to convince us he’s a big meanie, the human-loving truth always comes out. “Thin Ice” fully displays this M&M like quality, showing the Doctor to be brittle on the outside, soft inside and subtly sweet in the end. This week, we discuss all this and a lot more that may or may not be related to this episode, Doctor Who or even this universe! For this week’s WhoTube, Matt found “Doctor Who | A Doctor or A Warrior” by user GrayzeTV – https://youtu.be/vpJI5Froxl0 You can also listen to this episode on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/GAb2IqkYtr0
63 minutes | Apr 27, 2017
130 – Turn That Frown Upside Down
We’ve all had that annoying relative that says “Smile!” when all you want to do is spit in their face and pout. Well, in “Smile,” we see both of those relatives, and it doesn’t go well for either of them. There’s something to the advice, if you believe old 12 and about five thousand Facebook posts – smiling can boost your mood. Whatever, we don’t cotton to that nonsense at the Arrow of Time. Stay fit with your WhotTube this week, Adrianna Ojrzanowska’s “Running with the Doctor” – https://youtu.be/t6mjCcf8rU8 You can also listen to this episode on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/j2HisDofYCg
57 minutes | Apr 19, 2017
129 – Fitting the Bill
There’s a brand new episode of Doctor Who this week, so we of course immediately launch into tangents about Star Wars and The Legend of Zelda! That’s quality podcasting you can’t find anywhere else. Once we get the manifold permutations of pop culture out of our system it’s down to brass tacks with “The Pilot,” wherein we meet Bill Potts, the Doctor’s delightful new travelling companion. Much to our surprise, El Steverino keeps most of his usual storytelling excesses in check, but he can’t help sneaking in a series arc mystery or two. This week’s WhoTube is harsh but fair, “Doctor Who | Punishment” from TheGaroStudios: https://youtu.be/2u3oJeKVemA You can also listen to this episode on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/QzXzeZc2gcg
