These are very simple joys in life. Hearing the birds singing in the trees, being on the banks of a river contemplating the messages and wisdoms of nature, simple relationships.Affection is a simple thing. A child is by nature quite simple, especially when they are young, they just want to be loved and they just want to love. These are simple things, doesn’t cost money, doesn’t need scientists to research, and doesn’t need all sorts of technological updates. To love and to be loved, are the simple gifts of life. And ultimately when we connect to our love for Krishna and actually realise Krishna’s love for us, there is nothing more satisfying, then in whatever situation we are in, we can be happy. When we are agitated, lonely, bored from within, then we need all sorts of distractions to cope with it. But however many distractions, like intoxication, it can divert our attention away from the emptiness within, but it can’t fill, it can’t fill that need that we have. And this is a serious problem.
