A Part of Our Heritage? (Interview)

In a time of global uncertainty and rising far-right politics, Canada's reputation as an international "good guy" is being called into question. Are "genocidal" and "imperialist" words that patriotic Canadians need to hear? In this interview, Dr. Shipley and Liam Scott unpack the colonial myths underpinning the elusive Canadian identity, and their lingering effect on both ends of the political spectrum. Then they look to the future: what challenges lie ahead for Canadian politics and identity, and what can we do to create the Canada we claim to love? Dr. Shipley is an Associate Fellow with the Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean, and a Professor of Culture, Society, and Commerce at the Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. He is the former lead singer of The Consumer Goods, and his book Ottawa and Empire: Canada and the Military Coup in Honduras launches May 4, 2017. RATE US ON ITUNES & FOLLOW EVERYWHERE @PLZAPOCALYPSE
