Opioid epidemic, Episode 3
In the third episode of the A-NEWScast as we continue our series on opioid addiction, reporter Conor Morris talks to Dr. Melinda Ford, a local family practitioner and OU professor who has done work combatting the heroin and prescription opioid epidemic, especially as it intersects with heroin-addicted mothers. Morris also interviews a local man, formerly addicted to heroin, who is going through Health Recovery Service's addiction recovery program. We took an extra step in this interview (something that we don't normally do), in that we gave him a pseudonym so that he could speak with us honestly about his experiences with drug addiction. So while his name isn't "Steve," his story is very real, and mirrors the experiences of many throughout the county.
