On this final end-of-series program episode about Yeshua and Salvation, I am going to bring to a conclusion all of the ideas about what is biblical salvation as I expressed the lessons from the ten previous programs. In 1 Peter 1:17-19, we learn this: "...knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things -- silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers."The concept behind a conduct or work of aimlessness appears to be derived from Genesis 4:16 where we learn this: "Then Cain (Kayin) went out from the presence of Yehovah and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden."  The place name "Nod" is given to us from the Hebrew letters Nun-Vav-Dalet, which is a term that refers to wandering and homelessness. When Adam and Chavah ("Eve") were cast out of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:23) and subsequently had physical offspring (Genesis 4:1), our first family was considered homeless vagabonds and wanderers because they were no longer home, in the Garden of Eden. However, there was to be provided one way in returning back to the Garden of Eden; it was to be provided as a free gift of deliverance (salvation) through the One who has many names in Hebrew scripture: the One referred to as "Peleh" from the Hebrew letters Pey-Lamed-Alef and translated to English as the "Wonderful" (see Isaiah 9:6; v.5 in Hebrew; Genesis 18:14, and Matthew 21:15).  His role was to be understood as "the man of my time" from Leviticus 16:21 and John 7:6. This was to fulfill the Exodus metaphor of a Passover Lamb as it was expressed in Exodus 12:4 and John 6:52-53. On this hour of Real Israel Talk Radio- Episode 63, I am dedicating the first half of the program to a broad overview of the Yeshua and Salvation teaching series concepts in the event that this might help some listeners consolidate the points that I've been making over the past 9 programs. Then, with the second half of the show, I will take us into an in-depth story of Yeshua's Third Day resurrection and show that this doctrine is not sci-fi nor is it a mere children's fairy tale or some fanciful wishful thinking as we witness the social, political, and economic collapse of the world as we have known it. So many are exhausted from trying to extract some the truth from a maniacal  media gone mad. Others are just downright groping for hope in the midst of a global spiritual darkness.In Deuteronomy 32:10, we can read these words: "He found him in a desert land and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye." This phrase, apple of his eye" is a loose translation from a biblical Hebrew statement that says, "the little man of his eye."  What is this supposed to mean? I believe that the answer is found in Exodus 19:11: "And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day Yehovah will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people." According to the Hebrew text, this can be understood as follows: "In (with) the Day of the Third, He (Yehovah) will go up (ascend, rise, move upward) towards My Eye; He - all of the people (collective masculine singular) will ascend Mount Sinai." This is hidden Third Day resurrection talk and it is confirmed with the last line of Exodus 19:13, "When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come near the mountain.” Once again, however, the Hebrew text gives us a different point of view: “In seizing upon you (stretching out his arm to draw you out, carry you, pull you)...the Yovel (the voice of the Jubilee Ram’s Horn - see John 5:28-29 and the Exodus 19:16), all of them (Israel) - they will ascend (go up, rise up) into the mountain.” I will speak about this matter of Yehovah's promised Third Day resurrection for Messiah Yeshua and for us that are joined to him by faith in order to escape the Genesis 2:17 second death, which is what Paul spoke about in 1 Corinthians 15:50-57. On this episode of Real Israel Talk Radio, we will continue with an in-depth look into what happened with Yeshua on that Roman crucifixion/execution tree. Moments before he passed away, Yeshua's spoke these final last words: “It is finished.”  He then bowed his head and gave up his spirit. What exactly happened afterwards?After Yeshua died on that execution stake/tree, he then descended into a lower-world judgment hall, which is referred to in Hebrew as “Sheol” (see the parable of the rich man in Luke 16:22). In that judgment, he was pronounced guilty of all mankind's Genesis 2:17 curse of Sin and Death. In this, he came to known as the "Suffering Servant" of Isaiah chapter 53.With this curse of Sin and Death clinging to Yeshua, we can understand why, in his last moments before his death, that he cried out with a loud voice saying, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" - the opening line of Psalm 22:1. Following his divine abandonment in Sheol, the judgment hall of Earth's lower world (i.e., "Hell"), he was then remanded into "custody" and led straight into the burning fires of Gey Hinnom (the Pit of Corruption and Lake of Fire), where Sin and Death from Genesis 2:9 and 2:17 was extracted from him. That curse of Sin and Death was utterly burned up in the flames of those very hot fires as it is described for us through the imagery of the Iron Furnace from Daniel 3:21-27, Jeremiah 11:3-5, and Deuteronomy 4:20.However, for Yeshua, on the Third Day in that iron furnace of fire, a decree from the Eternal Father of Heaven and Earth lifted him out of that fiery corruption. His Third Day resurrection unto new life was not just for him but it was also for all of us who would come to believe in His Name; that we too would be granted an escape from Sin and a Second Death, which is a judgment of the Wrath of God. Man's salvation and hope for this escape is totally dependent on the completed Deaths, Burial, and Third Day Resurrection of Yeshua. John 19:30 records the final words of Yeshua just before he died on that Roman crucifixion tree. In his final words, he said, “It is finished.” He then bowed his head and gave up his spirit. What exactly is going on here? It appears to me that Paul had the answer in Colossians 2:13-14 saying, “He has made alive together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements (the certificate of indebtedness decree) that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.” In Rabbinic Jewish parlance, this certificate of indebtedness is called a “Shetar Hov” - a legal bond of obligation, which is based on Isaiah 50:1, Genesis 3:22, and Leviticus 25:25. With Yeshua's physical death on that Roman execution tree, he then entered into a lower-world courtroom judgment referred to as “Sheol” (see the parable of the rich man in Luke 16:22). From there, Yeshua was taken to a second death in the Lake of Fire - see Revelation 20:14; this is according to Genesis 2:17 in Hebrew. Through this process, he fulfilled the role of Israel's promised Messianic Redeemer - a “Ga'al” - in Hebrew, Gimmel Aleph Lamed, which has a dual meaning depending on context: a) redeemer and b) defilement. The redemptive process through Yeshua is referred to as our salvation and it is theologically multi-faceted involving the roasting of a Passover lamb, a second death, a dramatic escape from a fire that destroys the body (man's flesh) but saves the soul (man's spirit or neshama) and so much more.On this podcast of Real Israel Talk Radio, we are going to have another in-depth look at our salvation in Yeshua. Psalm 23:4 tells us: Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.What exactly is this idea of "the shadow of death"? To better understand the expression as it appears within the context of Psalm 23, I suggest that we examine it through the lens of the Hebrew language from Genesis 2:17 - "...But of the tree of the knowledge of good but evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of him, in dying, you will die."  This passage of the Hebrew Torah is clearly referring to two deaths; the first is physical and the second is spiritual. According to Psalm 23:4, the shadow of death is a physical first death, and no one can escape it. And concerning our physical first death, it is described in the Bible as merely a shadow. What is more troubling and definitely eternal is the concept of the reality of death's shadow. The Bible calls it the second death and this is the one that is going to be very painful because it is not a shadow; it is a reality that we need to be saved from. This is where Yeshua, the Son of Man, comes into the picture because he descended into the fiery flames of this second death and attached to him was the fall of man and his DNA genetic imprint from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good but Evil in Genesis Chapter 2:9, 2:17 and 3:6. Replacing our eternal death curse with an eternal life blessing is what Yeshua and our Salvation is all about. Concerning Biblical Salvation, what is the purpose of the Law of Moses, the Torah? Paul wrote in Colossians 2:13-14 - "And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross (tree)." What was he referring to? Colossians 2:14 is problematic for a lot of people and, in fact, presents us with a large number of varying and different interpretations. However, my understanding of the statement is rather straightforward because I think it directly relates back to Genesis 3:22, "Then YHVH Elohim (God) said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, to know good and evil."We will come to understand that Paul in Colossians 2:14 was NOT AT ALL speaking about the Mosaic Law (the Torah) and yet the Mosaic Law is extremely important to the story. Without the Law, we will miss some rather important details about Messiah and the Jewish-Hebrew biblical law of the Shetar Hov - a bond of obligation. To get freed from this obligation bond that the Garden Serpent foisted upon Adam and Eve, to sign for it, the only way out of that unfair deal was to graciously receive the gift of a payment on our behalf by Mashiach Yeshua. Two of the more well-known and better expressions of this much-needed gift from the Hand of the Almighty Eternal One is, firstly, that of John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world that He gave His Unique Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." Admittedly, I don't like sharks! Swimming off the coasts of Australia, there are plenty of sharks and oftentimes, we'll get news of another swimmer or surfer getting attacked by a Great White. What is it about some sharks that they just happen to get attracted to humans? Perhaps it is our smell? After all, sharks are famous for their acute and superior sense of smell. Indeed, their ability to smell the smallest traces of blood dispersed within gallons and gallons of seawater has long been a source of fear and dread amongst swimmers and surfers. In addition, they can smell just a tiny part of their prey, even if this part or substance makes up only 1 out of 10 billion parts of the victim’s body! This ability also extends over hundreds of metres. Studies about the vast animal kingdom of earth reveals that the African elephant has the strongest sense of smell. Also, a bloodhound is often referred to as a nose attached to a dog since these pooches have an amazing ability to scan any terrain with their nose. And strangely, even the male silk moth has a large and elaborate, feathery antennae filled with scent receptors that enable it to sense a single pheromone scent particle from a female from more than seven miles away! Spiritually, our creator Yehovah also has a profound sense of smell, yes, and even greater than all of the creation's creatures combined! So, exactly what is it about smell that we should know? The New Testament writer Paul had this to say in 2 Corinthians 2:15-16: For we are to God the fragrance of Messiah among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. D.I.Y. Salvation = "Do-it-Yourself-Salvation." For millions and, yes, even billions of people on planet earth, it's quite an attractive option because with this salvation program, "you can have your cake and eat it too," as the old 1700's American colonial saying goes. In other words, it is a commonly accepted idea that if there is an all-powerful deity that requires a soul to be blameless and perfect in order to "go to heaven" when we die then surely, we can appease that deity by living a "good life" and doing things in a way that makes us happy, which many believe will then make the deity happy. Well, if I must say it, there really is no such option available, at least, according to the written words in the Bible. In biblical scripture, the essential element of salvation can best be summed up as, "it's his way or the highway," based on a 1970's American idiom, "it's my way or the highway."  In the Bible, true biblical salvation is impossible to earn; it cannot be done. The only option available that can make "The All-Powerful, Eternal Deity" happy in the Bible is to acquire salvation His way, period. Acquiring salvation our way is not in His plan, which is why D.I.Y. (Do-It-Yourself) salvation is not on Heaven's "approved" list of options in order to get saved. It is a valid question: What is biblical salvation, at least, according to how the early first-century believers in Yeshua might have likely understood it? In Genesis 1:11-12, we read this: "Then God said, 'Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth'; and it was so."  Here, the teaching principle is, like kind produces like kind. This teaching from the Bible, like kind produces like kind, points us towards man's greatest dilemma; our inherited genetic link to and DNA imprint of the tree of the knowledge of good but evil which is exactly who we are when we are born into this world. With our natural birth into this world, we are joined to the law of Sin and Death physically and spiritually. Now, the question is, How do we break free from it? How do we get disconnected? The New Covenant biblical answer is given: only through the completed work of Yeshua the Messiah, period. There is no other way of salvation known unto man, at least, according to Hebrew scripture.  To NOT choose the path of life in Yeshua means that we have made our choice for what scripture calls the "Second Death" and the "Second Resurrection" (Revelation 20:5-6; 20:12-15).  And how did we get so tangled up in this mess? It started with Adam when his woman said in response to Yehovah, asking her the question, "What Happened?" in Genesis 3:13.  She said,"The Serpent married me and I ate."  In other words, the seed of the Serpent (Genesis 3:1) came to be ONE with Eve leading us back to the Genesis 1:11-12 principle, "like kind produces like kind."  Therefore, we have choices and decisions to make about our eternal condition. Do I continue in my genetic condition from the tree of the knowledge of good but evil OR do I choose eternal life from the Tree of Life, which is the Tree of The Good (Deuteronomy 30:15-19). What is biblical salvation?Well, I suppose the answer depends on who you might ask.  More often than not, the doctrine of salvation concerns a concept of eternal and spiritual deliverance from what is referred to in English as "sin." However, there is a lot more going on and I think we would do well to expand on the details more carefully, particularly as salvation and sin was defined in the Messianic Jewish mind of the Second Temple period of historical Israel. When Paul told the Philippian jailer what he must do to be saved, he was referring to the jailer’s eternal destiny (Acts 16:30-31). When Yeshua spoke of salvation, he pointed us into learning and understanding the biblical concept of the Kingdom of God (Matthew 19:24-25).What are we saved from and what are we saved to? Biblical salvation appears to be linked to an escape from divine "wrath" due to a passed-down curse of sin and death, which naturally and spiritually affects all of us because the consequence of sin is eternal death, according to Romans 6:23. Both are New Testament/New Covenant traditions specifically Messianic deriving from the days of Yeshua in the historical period of the Second Temple. Today, they are identified with the Christian church idea of "communion" and/or "the Lord's Supper."Matthew 26:28 records: "Then he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."  Our podcast will specifically take us into a definition of what is the Fruit of the Vine" and what is the "New Covenant" and why we need it. This will show us the biblical reason for the Kiddush and why it is connected to double-fruit prophecy of Isaiah 66:8, "Can a nation be born in a day." What exactly is this speaking about?
