Your preparation must be bulletproof.This is not the time to wing it! Know ahead of time that you’re going to be spending hours and hours preparing for your talk to make it as streamlined and effective as humanly possible. The more you give, the more you get—so don’t cut corners anywhere.Start by writing the end.This is the best advice you’ll read all day: come to your conclusion first. Why? Nobody cares that much about the lead-up information you’re going to be presenting—they are dying to hear what they get. Give them something that’s worth the wait, and then you can ensure that the rest of your presentation builds towards your explosive conclusion.Find a way to captivate them from moment one.If you fail to capture your audience’s attention in the first 10 seconds, you’ll lose them forever. Figure out how to catch them—and keep them—right from the very start. Is it by asking a tough question? Making an absurd-sounding statement that’s actually true? Or starting with a deeply emotional story?
